D Z Akin's

Let's be honest- San Diego does not have a ton of great delis (like other big cities- New York, LA, Chicago) In my opinion D Z Akins is the best. I love their sandwiches, soups and breakfasts.

I probably only go here once or twice a year but it's always good.

I love this place. They have such great baked goods, sandwiches, soups, AND PICKLES! The parking lot is really small and the wait can be long sometimes. But don't worry, they have a gift shop!

I usually order the Reuben sandwich when I go to DZ Aikens. Of course there are lots of other choices, but the Reuben is so good, I can't seem to get to any of the other choices for some reason. It is a pretty traditional Reuben with regard to the ingredients used, however, the corned beef is amazingly tender! It melts in your mouth! It is also stacked about 2 inches high inside the sandwich. There is always a bucket of Dill Pickles on the tables and they are great too. DZ Aikens is good value, good food, unpretentious and fun!

My favourite part of this restaurant is the deli, with its wonderful freshly baked pastries. They do the best chocolate eclairs. The food in the restaurant area is the usual fare, mixed with some Jewish dishes.

Dz Akins has really great food. It's kind of Jewish, New York. It's usually crowded but they have good prices and big helpings. The pickles are great. They have a deli where you can buy stuff to take home and they have a bakery. They have sweets and pastry. They also sell bread. It's a very New York atmosphere.

DZ Akin's menu is more like a book... it has so much food to choose from it can take you forever to decide! The food is really good and there is a ton of it! They've got a deli area and a bakery.... oh boy can you get yourself in trouble here. It is usually always pretty busy, but it moves quickly. It's a typical Jewish Deli.... it's very popular with a wide cross-section of people. They serve breakfast all day. The wait staff is always nice and the price for what you get is excellent. Must go!
