We bought a stove at Castons that was supposed to be going out of business. It was old man Castons old Caloric stove from the 1960s that was part of his old time collection. The tag on the stove said $205 so my buddy went to the bank to get the $205 cash. Suddenly the tag was gone and Juan Arias said it was $250 after we both saw the tag for $205. Juan charged us $250 and no sales tax, no receipt and immediately pocketed the cash. Cannot say that was much of a deal.

Supposedly they have a new location somewhere in old Newhall?

I was very, very dissatisfied with Caston's appliances. I have lived in Santa Clarita for 36 years and this was the first time I purchased anything from them but since the store was here when we moved here in 1975 I figured they must have something going for them - NOT SO!!! I bought a used refrigerator from them which would not maintain temperature and kept getting warmer to the point where it didn't keep the food cold. I called them and they kept promising to call back but never did. They finally after about a week sent someone to adjust the temp. He did and he said that we probably just hadn't shut the door completely which was not the case. Anyway it still didn't work so we went into the store and they made all types of promises but didn't follow through until we asked for store credit for the bad refrigerator and used it towards a new one. Also we bought a microwave from them only to find out that our new place already had one. We asked if we could return it and were told "ALL SALES FINAL" so now we're stuck with a microwave we can't use.

I should say that the young salesman was very nice but basically his hands were tied when he wanted to help us. Also the store is very "dumpy" and junkly looking. Short story long DON'T BUY FROM CASTON'S or you'll be very sorry.

Please read your invoice/receipt when buying from Caston's since "ALL SALES FINAL. NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES". If you were promised some sort of rebate as incentive, DON'T believe them as you might and you miight not get the rebate and now you have no recourse but to sue in court. $1,000 rebate means $1,000 not $780. Rick's customer service policy is non-existent and once they have your money. Not a happy customer and will not go back.

We were very close to buying a new double oven online. No tax, free shipping, low prices, etc. made everything look great. We had no problem dealing with the long shipping time, installation, etc. that you have to deal with when ordering through the internet due to the amount of money we would save. We were debating between a few models and went to Caston's simply to see the models in person. Without hesitation Rick met the online price with tax and threw in delivery, installation and removal of the old item and delivered and installed it that day. They were friendly, honest and reliable. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and to buy from a local retailer and to support a local business puts them head over heals above the rest.

This is just absurd that you can ask for responses and and then delete them....I simply asked someone who was saying what a great store they were to contact Dear Rick and ask him to give me the "great" service they had gotten from him.........and you take it down.....nice review service you have here. We bought a washing machine a few days ago from Caston's, and paid about $100 more than we would have had we gone to one of the big chains, but we like to shop locally and support the little guy. The washer we decided on was very dirty inside and had rust on the inner tub, but we were assured there was "one in the back" that would be the one delivered. After delivery and setup I noticed that the tub was rusty, and the same pattern of rust we noticed in the store. First thing next day I called, and was told Rick Caston, the owner, would get back to me in 10 minutes. After no call at all that day, I called the next day, and was told Rick would call back "within the hour". 4 hours later I called again, and finally got Rick. He basically told me there is no way the tub could be rusted, he didn't have another one, all sales are final, and if we had a problem with the unit we should call GE. And by the way, he is very rude and aggressive when it comes to problems with his products. Once Caston's gets your money, you can pretty much forget about help with defective products - even ones they knowingly deliver to you, you are on your own. I will never set foot in that store again, and urge anyone else considering Caston's to go elsewhere and save yourself a lot of grief. I only wish I had checked this web site before going there, as there are many, many negative reviews of Caston's here.

I bought a washer & dryer set (Maytag) from Caston's in 2006. The washer started leaking water yesterday and I called an appliance repairman. He advised me the washer is shot and he has seen this several times in the last few years with Maytags. The machine has a 10 year warranty but when I called Caston's they said the only way I could use the warranty was with the card they gave me when I bought it. I had the receipt and all the original paperwork in a bag but there was no warranty card. Caston's said they could not help me. BUYER BEWARE. In May I purchased a GE Monogram Refrigerator floor model that I was told was new except for few scratches. It looked just like brand new. When I plugged it in it did not work. That is when my nightmare with the owner Rick Caston began. To make a long story short the origional compresor had been removed and replaced with another one that was also defective without tellinfg me what he had done. After several days of trying to get it taken care of unsuccessfully I went in and tried to find out what was going on as my old one had broken down. He just blew up at me and began yelling and cussing saying he would now not get it taken care of and I couldn't get it done without him. All this infront of his young daughter. I left and after hours and days on the phone with GE I finally got them to take care of it. All the important components had to be replaced..... So bewaqre of any floor model purchase and for that matter any purchase.

Having owned an appliance store myself (Sears dealership), I have heard all of the frustrations that are listed on the review page. I also know from that same experience, that many, in fact most, times you cannot do anything about the quality of the appliance you are selling. Sad. But true. Appliances arent the same anymore. Life expectancy is 10 years from the time you pluy it in. Not what you wanted to hear.....? The complaints shouldnt go to the store as much as the manufacturers. Call consumer reports. The retailers are only the middle man. Warranties are tricky and it is up to the consumers to get the full scope of what they are buying. There is no way the seller can tell you everything you may need to know. Not all products have the same warranties, but specifically they mirror one another (in other words, refridgerators mimmic one another from brand to brand concerning the warranty). Get to know the brands that have good reputations. But know this.....even new things can break down too. I purchased a washer and dryer from Castons in Newhall and had a great experience. Delivery the next day with no hassles. But I know what I'm doing too. AND I know what I should expect and what is a delusional base that customers often have of a seller. Get informed and keep in mind that consumers have responsibilities too. Ripping sellers on an information page is being uninformed and not taking some responsibility for your own actions. Castons did a good job.

I read about the horror and the (hopefully) return to great service of Caston's so I thought I'd give them a try being new to the area. Called and spoke with Bobby Ordona over the phone regarding a new range hood. He said he'd call me back within a few days with price, installation information and availability. A couple of weeks went by and no call so my wife and I went to the store one day (Sunday) and spoke with Bobby AGAIN. He said he'd call us back that afternoon or on Monday for sure since he wasn't able to speak with his distributor while we were in the store. Several weeks have gone by and still no phone call. In my opinion this store is run by slackers despite the return of the Caston family. Overall, I'd say the shopping experience was good but the quality of their follow-up is downright pathetic. Maybe this is how they treat their new customers and they give old customers the red carpet treatment. Or maybe I wasn't buying enough from them. Who knows what the reason was but all I know is I'll never shop there if this is how they treat customers.

I bought my TV from Caston's. It was a great atmosphere and there were several setups for different TVs. I jumped from room area to room area until I found the TV I liked. I don't buy extended warranties as a rule. I guess I'm used to the era when what you bought continues to work for a decade our more. Well there was something in their voice that convinced me to get the warranty. Jump forward 5 years and the TV goes out. The lamp and the controller card burnt out.

I lost my warranty contract. Oh boy... right. It was no problem. They gave me a number and their support company was able to call up my contract and arrange repair. I've had a number of bad experiences with GE appliances that came with my home and this whole process with Caston's was bliss. I feel like the cat that ate the bird.

I ordered a GE gas stove and a GE Microwave from Castons. The display at Castons had cast iron grates, but the one I received had porcelain grates. Castons refused to take the stove back or replace my grates. (4/15/08)

I've been a customer of castons appliances for over 15 years and hopefully will be for another 15 , I was disappointed when i came in
to purchase a microwave when chris wilson was in charge of the store
and immediately noticed a difference in customer service and hopitality and actually chose to buy my microwave somewhere else. since the castons have taken over again its like having family back in town and
the customer service right back on track! the second my husband and i walked in the store we were greeted by Rick with a friendly hello and immediate professional sales experience ! we found the washer dryer set we were looking for at a great price and it was delivered that same day ! were so glad to have the original castons back!! thank you for everything!

I purchased a refrigerator from Caston's on 10/26/09 and delivered on 10/27/09. The light bulb went out approximately 30-days after. When I contacted Caston's and spoke to the original sales rep. He was more than willing to replace the bulb at no cost, only because it had been 30-days old. Unfortunately I was handed the wrong size bulb. When I returned it along with the bulb that came out of the refrigerator, the rep told me he would get the correct bulb and have it to me within 2 days. Well, those 2 days came and went & I never heard back from the rep. When I call back to get an update, other rep (Rick) lets me know that unfortunately the bulb is not covered under warranty. Now I've had 4 refrigerators my entire life. In all instances, the bulb out-lived the appliance. This is not the type of service you would expect from a small family owned business. I will never buy from them again. They are crooked drug addicts taking your money to get the days fix. Bastards!!

Chris Wilson, who bought Castons from Jerry Caston about 2 years ago, took our $6,000.00 deposit for a new GE kitchen and never placed the order. When he was forced out of the space for failing to keep up the lease payments and we lost our ENTIRE deposit. Several other business and people feel victim to this as well. Until this business gets back up and running well, caveat emptor.

Owner (Chris Wilson) offered us a great package deal on 4 LCD TVs, a built in refrigerator, Viking oven and Viking cooktop. We worked with him to do a six month same as cash deal and were off to the races. 4 weeks later -- and after multiple "guaranteed" delivery dates had come and gone, we cancelled the order. In the meantime, the owner had not only opened up the credit accounts for our same as cash financing, he had also taken $2,800 above the order price. Not sure where the money went since he never delivered any product. Long story short, a month later he finally completed my refund after he had destroyed my credit rating. It seems clear he was using my money to fill someone else's order and now he used someone else's money to refund my credit.

Don't work with this guy and if you have, good luck getting either your order or your refund.

Owner (Chris Wilson) offered us a great package deal on 4 LCD TVs, a built in refrigerator, Viking oven and Viking cooktop. We worked with him to do a six month same as cash deal and were off to the races. 4 weeks later -- and after multiple "guaranteed" delivery dates had come and gone, we cancelled the order. In the meantime, the owner had not only opened up the credit accounts for our same as cash financing, he had also taken $2,800 above the order price. Not sure where the money went since he never delivered any product. Long story short, a month later he finally completed my refund after he had destroyed my credit rating. It seems clear he was using my money to fill someone else's order and now he used someone else's money to refund my credit.

Don't work with this guy and if you have, good luck getting either your order or your refund.

After waiting 2 months for a TV we paid for in advance, I was told the TV was still on back order... consequently, the TV was never ordered and my money used to cash flow Castons. I am still trying to get my money back, but instead am being offered store credit. I will be suing Castons in small claims.... What he (Chris) is doing is not right nor should the community tolerate his behavior. He does not return calls and never does what he says is going to do. Chris, I hope you take this message serious and get better. You can not continue to treat people the way you do. Until you make right with me I will continue to disparage your name and reputation: what you are doing is wrong and inconsistent with what you believe.

Beware when you make a payment for final delivery. Make sure you have it in writing!
We made the mistake of believing that our appliances would be delivered upon final payment. We were assured they would be delivered within a day or two from final payment.
So, we made a final payment. The check was cashed at the bank same evening and almost three weeks later our appliances have not been delivered. Excuse after excuse.
We are remodeling our kitchen and we are now delayed in receiving $15,000+ in appliances.

Beware of buying anything from Caston's. My 88 year old mother purchased a TV from them over six weeks ago,. a different brand of TV was delivered. Within days she complained and was advised they would get the correct one to her. I. After numerous promises from "Chis", the manager, that a new one would be delivered, I returned the TV to them. I was advised that they have no customer satisfaction policy and charged a 25% return fee. It has now been two weeks and my mother has not received her refund check, less the 25%. It's always "in the mail". We are taking Castons to Small Claims Court, I understand Chris has his own problems with Federal Court. I would highly recommend not buying from this store, new management has really changed it.

I bought a microwave and a wine cooler. They had parts missing and never got the missing parts from the owner.They promised to get them and never did.I had to order them myself and paid for them myself.Don't buy anything in there. Once you leave, you are on your own.Terrible customer service.Do not shopp here.

Good Morning!
During my first visit to Caston's all the sales staff was very helpful. When I came back to place my order, the original salesman that I dealt with wasn't in, but another salesman went out of his way to complete my order.
When my products were delivered, the delivery crew was outstanding under very difficult circumstances.

We ordered a frige and a dishwasher from Caston's upon moving into a new house. We always try to "shop local" and support our town's small-businessmen, but this time it was a mistake. Delivery was VERY VERY slow, and when I called about it, their attitude was "tough luck, that's just the way it is". They knew we were living without appliances and told us upon purchase that it would be 2-3 days. Ended up being 2 weeks. Now, 10 months later, the refrig. needs service (sounds like the compressor is going bad) and they just gave me a 1-800 number for KitchenAid/Maytag. No service from them at all and they woun't even recommend a local service shop either. We spent over $3000 there for 2 appliances and once we were out the door they couldn't have carded less. NEVER AGAIN will I shop there. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Castons is an alterntative to the big box stores, so we looked there recently when we were shopping for a combination microvave/ hood range. We found an older store with bad floors and a messy appearance. The selection was OK, but we ultimately found a better price at one of the big box stores.
