What makes Tony's such a great place to dine is not only the excellant cuisine and the great location, but the staff is about the best I've ever been helped by. Most servers and bartenders, have been there for many years, many of them over ten-twelve years. They are proffesionals and dedicated. Same for the kitchen staff. When my family visits from back east, Tony's is a must. I don't eat seafood but the chicken parmisian /w rice pilaf, soup AND salad, and warm bread & butter is hard to beat. Steak dinners are great as well Great food, great service, and fantastic ambiance; all with the Pacific Ocean right out the window. Larry Merryman

Bad, Bad, Bad....walk around the pier before eating here. There are plenty of other seafood restaurants that are much better and half the price. Everything from the drinks to the salad to the seafood was bad, if you can call it seafood.

The is a lovely place if you are looking for a quiet, cozy atmosphere. The food is great with a variety of seafood items. We especially enjoyed the clam chowder. They are a great deal for a couple wanting to spend some time alone. I would recommend Tony's for a great seafood experience.

I live in Hollywood , California and it is rare I get time to get out of Los Angeles, but when I do I absolutely love escaping to Redondo Beach and going to either Tony's, on the redondo pier. I am partial to Old Tony's because I love the Old School charm and feel of the place. As soon as you walk in, there is a cozy brick fireplace to sit around and have a cocktail before dinner. Beyond the fireplace are the tables with floor to ceiling windows that overlook the ocean right below. Every seat in the house is a great one. My favorite thing on the menu is the Halibut Paccata, it is so good. EVERY meal comes with Soup and Salad, so much food, always a doggie bag for the next day. Anyway, I have never had a bad experience at Tony's and it is the best escape from the City by far. It's as though I go on a mini vacation with each visit.

Maybe it was just a bad day - A Really Bad Day! I know it wasn't just me because the lady who set down after us asked the waitress "What is this?" It was supposedly New England Clam Chowder the same thing I had ordered but I didn't have the guts to send it back or to eat it. The waitress never brought us bread and are never made eye contact when she walked by us. Not once did she ask how things were or if we needed anything. Her and the other waitresses were to busy arguing at the bar who was serving what table. I had to raise my hand and voice just for a beer. Needless to say my beer had been empty for a good 20 minutes. The calamari was awful and the salad was torn up iceberg lettuce with a few croutons, oh yea and some boiled egg. What not even a tomato? Well you could always buy a side of tomatoes I was told. WHAT? Did I hear that correctly?
Just when you think it couldn't get worse the stuffed shrimp arrived. Now I will say this they looked pretty good but has we all know looks can be very deceiving. Deceiving it was! Underneath this delicious looking mound of crab stuffing was four medium shrimp that had been butterflied and were hard and gross! Now for the crab stuffing - maybe its the way they do things in LA but I doubt it. The crab meat was that imitation crab crap mixed with somekind of rice, No wonder the plate had so much food on it because it was very inexpensive to make. Oh and speaking of inexpensive this stuffed shrimp cost $22.00. We spent over $90 dollars and because I'm a bartender I still had to tip this horrible place good. One more thing, the lady sitting at the next table just happened to have ordered the same stuffed shrimp. When she saw me place all 4 of them in the to go box she politely asked "what was that?". She rolled her eyes and cried to heaven! I pray her prayers helped!

Cheesy title, I know but "TOP" is actually an acronym a buddy of mine came up with a few years back while we were enjoying our weekly brunch over at Tonys On the Pier - Tony On Pier, TOP!

The brunch menu is great and it keeps me coming back, even during my semesters at UCLA! The service is alright but whats important here is the fantastic Sunday morning entertainment! A live smooth jazz band performs almost regularly and - accompanied by the fantastic 8 dollar brunch buffet.

Parking is terrible during the summer but if you're lucky you might be able to spot the cast of The OC doing a shooting down at the pier!
PROS:
CONS: The Redondo Beach pier smells like fishys.

We dined on a pleasant evening at a table by the water - very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. The smoked salmon chowder, steamers and crabs were average. The clam chowder and salad dressing tasted like they came out of a can.

I have to say Old Tony's is def my fav place to eat. Iloev the steak, ceasar salad (made with anchovies) and the salmon chowder. The restaurant is kinda dark inside with a warm cozy fire pit going and tropical decor. The ocean view finshes off the ambience. This is def my favorite place for dinner in all of South Bay. YUM!

PROS: lots of parking, ocean view. great decor, good service, DELISHfood
CONS: Redondo Pier is not the greatest place
