As the other reviewer noted, Trader Vics is long on atmosphere - great Hawaiiana. And they have a nice bar that makes great drinks.
We like the building and the views of the Bay especially around sunset. IT can be windy in Emeryville - and freezing cold in the summer so beware.
I heard they are opening a new Trader Vic's restaurant in SF. They used to have one near Union Square, but if closed down a few years back.
The Emeryville Restaurant is convenient to the Holiday Inn and the Powell Street and Bay Street Area. It the advantage of being on the water, which makes it seem exotic. The downside is that there isn't much parking. I personally hate to pay for valet parking, but theres not much choice unless you park further out near the marina and walk. (This is not a good option on a cold windy night.)
It' definitely pricey, but worth it for authenticity. A great place for a slurge.
PROS: Atmosphere, Food, Great Crab-Cakes, Great Mai-Tai's
CONS: Expensive, Lack of Parking

This restaurant is a great old Bay Area tradition. It's the home of the Mai Tai and they offer excellent food and service with a spectacular view of The San Francisco Bay. If you are up for some fine dining in a not-so-stuffy atmosphere this is the place for you. With a rich history and a well-done Tiki room atmosphere this is a great place for dinner, but bring plenty of cash because you have to pay for such a fine night out.
PROS: Great food, great service, and a fun, relaxing enviroment.
CONS: Kinda' pricey.
