In Short
Panoramic views of San Diego Bay procure fresh-catch cravings at this long established waterfront eatery. An all encompassing coastal atmosphere, the dining room extends over the water's edge and bayside windows add to guests' enjoyment of seafood favorites. Weather permitting, dine on the patio; salty air pairs nicely with a steaming cup of chowder, a range of fish-fry items or fusion specialties such as the crispy California roll with avocado, crab and crispy panko crust.

Anthony's Fish/ Mexican Grotto is bad!

by Rex M.

We went to Anthony's for a Fathers day meal the nite before. I'm a east county native and have been going there for many years. I and our group were very disappointed! I ordered steak and shrimp. The steak was too thin with no flavor and the shrimp was not fresh,i.e. chewy and the meat wouldn't pop out of the tail?? My daughter ordered swordfish that could not have been fresh, dry, no flavor and thin.

seafood salad

by LORI W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 12,763

My friends and I went here for a girls night out and we had a wonderful time. The good was good, but a little pricey. I still feel it was worth it. There is a wait and that would be the only down fall to the whole evening. Give it a try if you are not in a hurry.

Very disappointed in the changes!

by Doris C.

I hadn't been to Anthony's for a few weeks and was very disappointed in today's meal. First, there was a new menu. The quanity was down, ie, I ordered the QC shrimp and got one side instead of two. I was quoted $2.95 for a salad which used to cost $.50 over the coleslaw. I got 4 shrimp and a few french fries. My boyfriend ordered an albacore lewie and got a plate of lettuce, etc. and no tuna in it.

Anthony's has been my favorite restaurant for many years, but not the way it is now. We will not be going back, unless things change.
The prices for what you get now are not reasonable. I'm so sorry to see this happening when it is already tough to survive. I believe they will regret the changes.

Very disappointed!

Great Seafood

by Ted W. | insider Insider | Rank: 17,599

We had a great meal at Anthony's. No surprise, actually.

The decor is underwater cave. The walls are crusted with shellfish and other denizens of the deep. Sponges and corals grow from the room dividers. There is a lake outside, with water flowing into it from the roof, a nice effect.

We had Stuffed Salmon and Red Snapper. Both were excellent. Service was excellent. This was a fun meal!

Fun, upbeat Seafood.

by Michelle S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,511

In La Mesa just off the 8 Freeway. Fun staff, nice view and fresh fish. Soup is good, salad is good too. Nothing on the menu is a bad choice, go in for lunch to save some money. The same great food for a couple buck less.

Seafood Heaven

by julie t. | insider Insider | Rank: 12,953

The athmosphere here is amazing. With walls made of coral and starfish and eels hiding through out the reef and shiny fish from the ceiling you have to just love it. Famous for the special batter Mama Ghio used the food is scrumptious. The booths overlook a lake and after your meal you can go out to watch the squirrels or feed the ducks. On warmer nights they have a patio available with heating lamps for outside dining.

Great Fish for the Money

by Chad W.

Anthony's was the best seafood we have had in awhile. We first went to Red Lobster where the food was OK but the bill wasn't. Way over priced for the meal. Next was the Brigatine, again the bill was outragous for the wood planks they served called Mahi Mahi and Halibut. The Srvice and selection along with the great bay view will have us coming back for sure.

PROS: We had Excellent Sevice and Service is the key.
CONS: Bring a load of change the meters eat that stuff up. $0.25 for 15min
