I love this place. It has a great location and always a variety of kinds of pizza. They also serve sandwiches, salads, and calzones. A bargain, great thin crust, and right outside the metro station.

Located in/on Castro, the festive energy and vibe on the streets (St. Paddy's day or otherwise) carries over into the little LITTLE restaurant. Friendly banter, casual conversations, laughs, flirty chatter. Stopping in here is just as fun as it is functional... The seats in the windows must be THE best vantage point for an ever-entertaining parade for people-watching (no, IN, not near, IN the windows, you'll see. HA!)

Service-wise, the guy (owner?) running the register is friendly and light-hearted. Quick to offer substitutions or price-break when the pesto slice X craved for was sold out.

They have a pretty extensive menu and toppings... some definite "must try" combinations, in my book ( www.marcellospizzasf.com )

The slice. Crispy, thin-crusted, foldable-holdable slices, potent garlicky goodness, generously smattered with chopped sun-dried tomato over spinach... Mmmmm, late night "dance till you drop" food ( but bring gum)

Most definitely going back there again!

Best sauce in the city! It is all about the sauce! From a native Bostonian, this pizza is worthy of the East Coast.

I've been going to this place for years and they make good pizza. Parking is a B* but I'm willing to drive around looking for a spot to get their pizza. The kids love it too and is one of their favorites, if you're not sure try to wait for

Pros: Good pizza, funny crowd at night.

Cons: parking is tough, wimps and weak minded people won't like the area

San Francisco is not New York. Short of a trip to NYC this is as good as it gets in the entire Bay Area.

The slices are large (NY style), the crust is thin and tasty. Occasionally too much cheese is applied (typical West Coast nonsense),

Marcello's has the best pizza in the city, bar none. Their thin crust pizza is amazing and the slices are huge for $2-$3. The sauce is extra flavorful and delicious and the pizza crust is light and flaky. They also have some great combo

Pros: Location, Late Hours, Staff, fun atmosphere

A couple of friends told me to check this place out. On my second bite of the thin crust, the cheese slid off in a sheet. So, the mostly flavorless sauce didn't even add any adhesiveness. So, i tried the thick crust. It was fluffy,

Marcello's pizza is big, sloppy, and delicious in all of its New York-esque goodness. I've eaten both at the restaurant and had their food delivered. Each time, the pie was great. Definitely one of the best pizza joints in town.

No matter when you're in the Castro, Marcello's is there to stave off your hunger pangs with a tasty toppings-loaded slice. The pesto-mushroom or pesto-tomato slices are particularly good, and the servers behind the counter are always

Marcello's I can't tell you how many times you've saved my life, dragging my sorry butt up to the counter to order a veggie slice with my last quarter. Thanks for putting up w/ my beer breath!
