Legendary margaritas

This place is a legend! They have the best margaritas in town. If you're a fan of Tres Agaves, you must come by this place: Julio, the owner at TA, drew his inspiration from his family's restaurant out here in the Richmond. I can't comment on the food since I tend to munch exclusively on the chips and salsa at the bar, but the Margaritas alone merit 5 stars!

Mexican food to die for in this family owned restaurant who has been in my neighborhood for 40 years. The tamales, the burritos, the salsa, the tequila......magnifico. Always crowded but worth the wait. It is a small but very clean and popular restaurant on a busy street. They treat you very nicely. Residential parking but sometimes hard to find especially on weekend nights.

Its crowded and they usually try and get you away from your table as quickly as possible. Also, the decor is kind of ugly. But the margaritas are fantastic. I don't like tequila much, unless its poured by the gallon into Tommy's pitchers and buried beneath lime juice and... other stuff. Should I think twice before basing my first review on experiences I usually don't remember? Probably. But the margaritas are that good. I hear they also serve food

Tommy's Mexican Restaurant is one of my favorite places to go out in San Francisco. The place is always packed, it's got a great, fun, casual vibe, the food (central american influenced) is fantastic, and their tequila selection is unheard of. They have everything. Ask for anejo tequila or they'll pour you the cheap yellow stuff as punishment for not knowing. It's not them being cheap, it's them being tequila snobs. And once you know what to order, you're happy they are.
