Pros: Almost everything on the menu is good.
Cons: Service is atrociously slow, waitresses get bossy with customers.
I've been a customer at La Morenita Restaurant for more than a decade, but in the last 2 years service is so bad I doubt I will ever go back. The owner left to manage a new store (La Higuerita) in Belmont, and now his teenage daughters run things. Result? Atrocious service. Once, when only two other tables were occupied, I had to wait 40 minutes just to get an enchilada plate. Finished with your meal? Expect to wait 15 minutes or 20 minutes just to get the bill and pay. Where is the problem? Well, only one waitress manages more than a dozen tables and the cash register. Solution? They need at least two people waiting on customers. Verdict? Bad service simply kills this restaurant. This is unfortunate, because the food is good and the prices are fair.

They have a great selection of Mexican sodas, though; I particularly like the pineapple soda, a nice light flavor to go with the heavier dishes like beef enchiladas.
Objectively, this is really only a 3-star restaurant; I tend to go fairly often, though, because it's a great place to get a nice dinner after a relaxing soak in the hot tubs at Watercourse Way, just a block away.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is the spot. It is a quaint, little Mexican restaurant across the street from Whole Foods Grocery in Palo Alto. This restaurant has great tasting food at reasonable prices. My favorite

Located across Whole Foods, La Morenita is a simple, friendly, reasonable, and small Mexican restaurant. Our favorites: Nachos a la Morenita, soft chicken tacos. Can be very busy at times however.
