I love their Espresso Granita.
I love their Oyster selection.
I really like the french fries.
I really like their Caesar salad.

But then Zuni's has broken heart one too many times.

Their famous 1-hour roast chicken is not worth the wait.
Their waitstaff is nice but unorganized or operating without a pulled together GM. I chalked it up to fluke experiences, but after 3 times...
Their burgers have fallen way down. WHAT the heck happened???

Unfortunately, I will not return. I usually go when craving oysters, since it's close to us, but now I'll go to Absinthe or ALL the way to the Ferry Building to Hog Island. If I'm craving a burger, I'll go to Slow Club or even Barney's, yes, I said it, in Noe.

This place did not live up to it's reputation. The best thing we had was the ceasar salad. We waited over an hour for the baked chicken, which is supposed to be their signature dish, and it was nothing special at all. Very disappointing

Some people are so quick to report when their restaurant experience isn't perfect. Perhaps the waiter was rushed, or it was busy & they had to wait, or the manager was upset about something. However, rarely do people go back & mention

The menu is pretty Californian and seasonal. Service was great. Decent wine and beer selection.

They even had a live pianist at lunch to create some ambiance. The building's corner location and floor-to-ceiling windows make the space bright, airy, and enjoyable.

Overall a very pleasant dining experience.

Zuni Cafe alway delivers with unique, tasty dishes, changing each day. Salt and Pepper Pork chop is one of the best in the city and shoestring fries are nice side. Great place for a business lunch and nice dinner spot as well. It's a bright spot in an otherwise less than desirable location. The space is fantastic.

If you like raw oysters, or roasted chicken, or ceasar salad, then head to Zuni. Super cool location and amazing people watching, too! The servers are deft and wry and quick with the perfect recommendations. Be prepared to drop at least $150 for two with wine, but it is well worth it! A classic place for that special date or for parents when they are in town.

There really is nothing like Zuni Cafe and they tend to do what they do very well. It has over the years improved its snotty staff, but the food is still over priced. However, where else can you go for the smoky chicken and bread salas? or a real ceasar? It is still one of the most interesting bar sceens and the look of the joint is like no other. I must have my Zuni fix at least once a year.

PROS: unique classic food and decor
CONS: price and limited-sometimes- weird food offerings
