I showed up to Kobe the other night to enjoy the teppan-style food and show, and I found out that they were having a jazz performance in the lounge. My girlfriend and I decided instead to dine in the lounge. We were treated to the beautiful sounds of a cello and a piano, along with the vocal stylings of an older woman who seranaded us while we dined by candlelight. The food was excellent, the drinks were delicious, and the service was top notch to boot. By the time we were through with our meal, we didn't want to leave the great atmosphere, so we had a few more drinks and let the music permeate our satisfaction. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves jazz or even those who just want to go out for a tasty drink or two. We had a blast, and it is certain that we will be back for more of the elements that make Kobe great. Thank you so much!

Food is so-so. We chose a booth with the standard menu. Teriyaki chicken and a tempura dish were ordered. The teriyaki chicken was anemic looking (pale) and the teriyaki sauce seemed to be right out of a bottle. The menu described it as chicken with glazed teriyaki sauce. I envisioned something appetizing looking. It tasted okay. Nowhere good enough to return to the restaurant for a second visit. The tempura was the same. Bland. The restaurant overuses ginger. Ginger on the salad, ginger on the steamed veggies, etc.
The place was empty on a Friday night at 7:00pm. Does that tell you something? Even a coffee shop has more customers than this on a Friday night! The hostess seated us in the entry way and we asked to move to a booth farther down the row. Why do they do this? The restaurant has nobody in it and they give you the crappiest seat in the joint?

All in all, I will never return to this place. They were serving lunch until more recently and we were tipped off that we better go before the place shuts down. (We had a gift certificate) The outside of the restaurant is poorly maintained, but the inside is quite nice. Too bad the food rated just edible.

Pros: Ambience, nice interior

Cons: poor service, too many people standing around doing nothing, boring food..right out of a jar

This is some of the best food that i have ever had. Going back into the back rooms are the most fun. The cooks cook right in front of you, and do some really cool tricks with the food. The steaks and chicken and everything they make is out of this world. The waiters and waitresses are very nice and always on the ball. You never have to refils on anything. The sushi bar is also very good also. The prices are kind of expensive, but if you feel like breaking loose with a few bucks, this is the placeto go. Make sure you dress up a little, because it is a nicer restaurant. This is a nice place to go before a formal dance or prom.
