I could never forget how startling my visit in this place was. The food is truly astonishing, full of flavors and exploding aroma. The place looks like a modern version of a royal banquet.

As a family we frequent this restaurant 2-3 times a month; even our relatives from out of town want to go this place when they come to Ventura County. The flavor, proportions and prices are the best in the area. The restaurant can get a little loud, but is a fun place to be on a Friday and Saturday night. My only complaint about the Olas Mexican Grill are the chairs and floors are really filthy! I am embarrassed to recommend this place to people who are picky and this is a shame.

This is the 2nd time we went. The first time was pretty good. Tonight the person taking our order commented to the waitresses that we "didn't tip them" and was rude. What kind of place expects you to tip them up front? We are good tippers and felt this type of rude, in-your-face comment was inappropriate. The food was okay, not good enough to put up with attitude. Although the waitress was not unfriendly, not up to par because of the tone set by the big guy at the cash register.

Great food and they also give back to the community donating portions of fundraising events back to our daughters high school.

They have a few tables for eating in. Great salsa and chips.

family friendly atmosphere, great authentic food, decent prices. With a southern california casual atmosphere, what more could you ask for? Highly recommended!

I'm not a surfer, nor do I pretend to be, but this is a pretty laid back establishment. Running with its theme of skateboarding and surfing (I believe the owner skates as a hobby - met him once, very nice guy), Olas creates a vibe unlike other traditional Mexican resturants. Inside is filled with posters and TV screens running constant skateboarding/surfing videos, but also is hefty sized of Burritos and other delicious servings that one can barely finish in one helping.
The food tastes great and worth every penny - the prices are very reasonable too.

I found this place while driving by on the 101 North freeway towards Ventura. I ventured in and was surprised at the menu selection. There are selections from burritos to quesadillos to combo plates. The decor reminds me of a surfer's hang-out with surfboards and posters posted everywhere. There are videos playing of surf competitions on the TVs posted overhead and behind the counter. From time to time, Carlos will have video viewings of the latest surf competition. During those days, the restaurant is packed with everyone from all walks of life ranging from young to old. There are long hard wood tables (along with 2 person tables) placed within the restuarant. Additional seating is also outside on the front patio area. The owner, Carlos, is a former surfer and is very easy going. I recommend the taquitos, flautas, and chicken fajitas. The burritos are huge and will easily satisfy any appetite. At one point, I was coming in every week sometimes up to twice a week. I've never been disappointed with the service or food at this place. I've taken all my friends here and have recommended this place to co-workers, as well. If I'm in the area, this will always be the first on the list to stop by and get something to eat.

Ola's is probably the best "Gringo Mex" food I've had. The portions are large, if not huge. The flavor is great. The guy behind the counter may get your order wrong (it's clear that these guys surf as their full-time job and make burritos in their spare time - nothing against surfers ;). The atmosphere of the place is laid back, friendly and inviting. They have a good salsa bar, not as full-featured as some others, but what they loose in variety of salsas, they make up for in the quality of their food. The beans are great, the meat is well seasoned and the chips, served on the side taste fresh, even if they just came out of a bag.
