Jupiter

Jupiter is - hands down - the best brew pub in Berkeley. They have great food, great selection of Brew-Pub beer, live music, an outdoor patio and a sort of old-Victorian ambiance.If you like hand crafted ales and beer, great pizza and sandwiches, a friendly place to meet up with some friends, live jazz, and fantastic outdoor beer-garden atmosphere, Jupiter's your place. They are located on Shattuck Ave., between Center St. and Kiterridge, right next to the Downtown Berkeley Bart station.All roads lead to Jupiter.

PROS: Great Beer, Food, and Music. Not a sports bar.
CONS: Getting a table outdoors can be hard on a warm sunny day. Not a sports bar.

Although there's better beer to be had in Berkeley, Jupiter may have the drop on the competition when it comes to the atmosphere. Jupiter's outdoor seating is unparalleled.

This brew pub combines just about everything I need in a beer place: good pizza with various unusual combinations (I personally prefer the Odysseus), good beer, both their own and others', and well-prepared appetizers (my choice? the warmed olives). There is both indoor and outdoor seating, although either can be difficult to get when the place gets crowded. They also occasionally have live music which ranges from decent to awful.

Having moved from Massachusetts last week, I was jonesing for a good beer. My first name here, my roommate and I went to Jupiter and I was not disappointed. The beers, locally brewed, were around 4 dollars for 20oz and contained from 5-10+% alcohol. I had two IPA s that rivaled if not surpassed my local brews from back home. After getting a bit tipsy, we order the Io pizza with chicken for 13 dollars and it was plenty for the two of us. And plenty good too. If you're looking for a good time, good people, and go food, I'd highly recommend Jupiter!

It seems that Berkeley will never get tired of the magical combination of pizza and beer. Jupiter's combines both in a lovely outdoor setting. When it gets cold, you can move into the dark wood rooms inside. The service is not always fantastic, but the pizza is nearly always perfect. I am not a huge beer fan, but I know that they have a very good selection and have comments posted on many of their beers.
