This is a darling store that has the cutest stuff in it. They are things that we totally don't need, but want to buy because its too cute. It reminds me of a gift store you'd find in Monterrey, CA.

Just For the Halibut has shrunk in size a couple of years ago, but they still have tons of cute gifts, ornaments, and of course cards! Located right next the Soup Plantation in Point Loma, this little place is worth browsing in.

Just For The Halibut is one of those little gift shops that you wonder how it got it?s name. You?ll be wondering all day on this one, because the store has nothing to do with Halibut or fish, lol. Instead, this is a cute little stationary/gift/card shop type of store. Located in a small strip mall with plenty of parking, you won?t find this store much different than any other card store. They have a large selection of greeting cards for all occasions, including a wide selection of birthday, Christmas, Easter, graduation, anniversary, wedding, baby, and every other type of card that you can imagine. They also have a wide selection of stationary, invitations, and other similar paper products. Their prices are card shop type prices, but they are not outrageously overly expensive like you might think, they definitely are not discount store prices either though. The staff is very friendly. They really appreciate their customers. You get service with a smile, a nice conversation during check out, and all though the employees sometimes can get so wrapped up in a conversation with a customer that they don?t acknowledge you right away, they definitely give you their full attention, and every suggestion that they have for whatever project you have in mind, if you ask them. They can also help you find the perfect card for any occasion which is great if you are a guy who just forgot your anniversary and needs the perfect mushy card for your wife, or a young kid looking to buy the right birthday card for your mom. They have customer service that you don?t get at the discount stores, and they really appreciate their customers, many of whom shop their regularly. What sets them apart from other card and stationary stores, besides their excellent staff, is all of the invitations that they sell. Invitations can be hard to find for just the right occasion, and they have the right invitation for just about any occasion you could possibly imagine.

PROS: Lots of different invitations for every occassion, A+ Customer service
CONS: More expensive than discount stores!

Just for the Halibut is a gift and stationary store located in a strip mall in Point Loma. After driving past it many times, I decided to go in one day. I was impressed with the number of different greeting cards the store offered. If you are a card junkie, you will probably enjoy browsing and picking up a few. However, I was very offended by the customer service. There were two workers when I walked into the store. I was not greeted at all. I looked around for 5-10 minutes without any acknowledgement. The two workers were too busy chatting with any woman they knew. I left the store without a single word being said to me. I will not visit this store again as I feel they do not appreciate their customers.
