I went to B44 last weekend for Dine About Town, an Open Table promotion that offers a prix fixe menu at various restaurants in town. Many of the DAT menus offered no choices and dishes that were not particularly appealing. B44 was one of the few participating restaurants that offered several choices, and I love Spanish food, so we landed there.
The selection of wine is extensive. We had a really good Tempranillo. For my appetizer, I had the mussels with pancetta, which was fabulous. The sauce was fantastic and left me wanting more. I had the paella for my entree. It was very good, but not amazing. They are generous with the portions of seafood. For dessert, I had their version of the creme brulee, which was terrible. It was way too sweet and had a grainy texture that made it inedible.
Besides my dessert, my only other complaint would be the noise. We sat inside because it was cold, and it was incredibly cramped and loud. It was impossible not to listen to the tables next to us throughout the meal.
Overall, I would definitely go again, especially on a nice day and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys good Spanish food.
