Alphonso started out as my "back-up" dog groomer when I couldn't get in to my local one who books out 4 weeks ahead. However, I've often chosen Alphonso (and his assistant) first, because I can get my Shih Tzu in and out in less time and she always looks great and acts content both coming and going. He runs his shop a bit loosely, sometimes a bit late arriving for the first appointment. If you can live with that, you'll find a pleasant, very talented groomer and staff who take excellent care of your pet. His prices are fair and reasonable, not out of line with the going rates at several other places I've tried over the years.

I'm ambivalent about my experience with Alfonso. We'd just adopted a cat and he was really sweet with the cat, but he was late (the store was physically closed) and the cat and I had to wait outside the store for 20 minutes until one of his neighbors agreed to let us into the store since it was so cold outside.

When I came back, he had given the cat a lion cut. In the end, we agreed that that was a good idea- the cat didn't have mats or anything, but he'd done so to give the cat a dandruff shampoo, which the poor guy needed, but I still wasn't wild about him giving the cat a lion cut without asking (he had my cell).

Also, I was totally shocked to be presented with a bill for $75. I know nothing about grooming, but that seemed a little excessive for a cat. Since then I've been elsewhere and it seems like the market price is $30-$45 for a cat. We liked Alfonso, but I don't think I'll be back. Seventy-five bucks to groom an indoor short-haired cat with no problems!

If we walk past the grooming clinic, our two bichie poos run into the shop. They absolutely adore the groomer. And give this place at least two times to get the cuts right. Sometimes they sacrifice the perfect cut for a happy pet, but a happy pooch is more important than a few long fuzzy spots!

the people at broadway grooming clinic are the best! they were extremely kind to my very scared cat, did a great job of minimizing his stress and top notch grooming too. they are professionals all the way. i won't ever take my pets anywhere else. 5 stars!!!!!
