Ron Goode Toyota was sold a few months ago. The new owner hired lots of new people. The Toyota dealer in Alameda is now called Toyota of Alameda, and our experience with the new owner was very different from what happened with the other posters at the old place.

I bought my car in 2002. To quickly summarize, the "Good Faith" deposit ck. I left for them to search for my car, which they said they would not cash, was cashed that same day and it took 3 months to get it back after the sale. They lied and said "Perma Plate" had gone out of business, which I found out later it had not, they sold me their "Cobra" protectant instead. They had an aftermarket alarm installed, not a Toyota as I paid for (my workorder showed Toyota Alarm and that is what I signed) and told me that if I wanted to switch it to the correct one, that it would damage the interior of the car. They also said they couldn't hook up the alarm to my trunk lock so it would pop open with the push of a button, but that I wouldn't have gotten that with the Toyota alarm, but a few others I have run into and asked all have the feature - no problem. When I was called down in the pouring rain to pick up my car that it was done when the entire set of door interiors had to be replaced due to separation, I arrived to find my car console and part of the dashboard spread across the seats and was told it wasn't ready and wouldn't be for another day at least. I asked for the Dealership Manager and this guy came down and verbatim said "is this your car?" to which I answered yes, he looked and said "what's the problem" to which I asked him who are you? his response "you asked for the Manager" I told him I thought it would have been a good idea and a courtesy to great the upset customer with a handshake and an introduction instead of they way he approached. I told and showed him the "apart" insides to which he went and checked and came back and said "well, I guess you'll have to come back again unless I want to take it and finish it myself". By the way, the guys name, as I found out from a worker is John and he wasn't the Dealership Manager but the Service Manager. Now! I am waiting, for a year now, to try and get a repalcement key fob for my alarm as my spare was stolen from a friends car. Autotronics, the place down the street that installed the alarm, doesn't follow up with phone calls and keeps telling me they are waiting for the manufacturer to get back to them. Funny, I get through the first time, everytime I call, but they can't help me because I am not a delership. Oh, I almost forgot, the second service I brought my car in for, they returned the car with the front bumper all scratched up with white paint. They said I must have done it. Funny, I hadn't even taken possession of the car after the oil change and and there were no marks when we reviewed the car and filled out the appearance sheet.
So, I would stay away from this dealership. Don't go to Hayward either, I have been told that they now have cameras installed in the service bay's because employee theft from customers cars have become so bad they had to.

We got our new Toyota Corolla here last year and received excellent service and literally only had to wait for 2 days in order to pick up our new car. So far the car has run like a dream and there have been no problems, and taking it in for its checkup is very easy, as the service dept is right across the street.

Ron Goode Toyota is a dependable Toyota dealer, and you can get a good deal if you do your homework ahead of time, particularly for a new Toyota. I bought an '04 Matrix and LOVED the transaction. However, I also bought a used car and it was the worst experience ever - I felt like I was ripped off and taken advantage of by the salesmen. There was zero follow up.
PROS: great new car selection and service
CONS: horrible used car service!

I was looking for a truck and went there. The sales lady was very nice and helpful. I looked around for a couple of more weeks and got a call from the sales lady who offered me a price that I liked. Up on my return to the dealership a few days later, they told me that they will lose money if they sold me the truck at that price. I was shocked and expressed my displeasure with their deceptive tactics. The sales manager got involved and he came across as rude at best, and showed me (the customer) the way out. I left. Within minutes I got a call from the sales lady once again, offering me the same price again. What did they discuss after I left? Not sure.
I went back and during finalization of the deal they tried to sell me so many other services/products that I don't really need. They lied about a couple of repairs that were needed on this brand new truck. They told me it will fixed in a single day, but later their own service department laughed and said it was impossible to do all that work in a single day.
This dealership is colonized with crooks, and they are good at bringing the worst in their customers. If you casually go walk around this dealership during the day, you may observe their salesmen hanging out outside and cursing at each other, or like me, you may find them fighting each other.
Pros: None
Cons: Deceptive, false promises, offensive negotiation tactics
