I tried to go shopping last and selected a covered baking dish. There was only one price tag on it and it was on the lid. I felt it was a little over priced and decided not to take it. As I was leaving she started speaking to her co workers in Spanish about me taking off the price tag. It was very offensive to be accused of something like that. Maybe next time the ignorant employee will make sure the customer leaves the store just in case they speak Spanish.

Today, 3/18/10, I went to the Salvation Army on Ming Avenue in Bakersfield, to buy a pair of pants. I shopped and located a pair of pants I was interested in. However, when I got to the checkout counter, I noticed a couple of holes in the legs and a missing button. I asked the cashier to speak with the manager about a possible discount. She left, then immediately returned informing me there was nothing she could do. The price was set. I liked the pants and although I thought they were overpriced for the defects I discovered, I paid the price. I vowed that would be the last purchase I would make at Salvation Army. After me, a woman came to the counter with three sets of dishes-two sets priced at $2.74 for 6 dishes, and 1 set at $3.74 for 6 dishes. The same scenario occurred. "The price is set and there is nothing I can do about it." I find this practice to be ridiculous and exhibiting poor customer service. For a business that is selling DONATIONS, one would think that flexibility could be exercised. Xochi was the manager on duty that declined my pants discount, however it was like pulling teeth to get the spelling of her name. From now on, I will take my business to yard sales or Goodwill. Salvation Army used to one of my favorite charities, but I find it the least charitable of all businesses.

The Salvation Army on Ming is a thrift store. I have sometimes found good items to buy over the years. The prices vary, sometimes they are expensive and sometimes you can get a good deal! What I like about the Salvation army is that when you make a purchase, your money is going to fund their program and help people in need. I've always been treated nicely at this location.

sometimes you might find a really good bargain, but sometimes you can find things that are little overpriced. Either way it's a good way to support those in need of help.

The Salvation army does a lot of good to the community. I have donated many items to them which are always a tax right off. I would rather give them here where people can really use them. The people who come to my house to pick up the items are very friendly and professional.
