I frequented this restaurant when I was craving pho, as this was the closest location near my home in L.A.. I felt the food here was not bad at all - flavorful, satisfying, relatively-cheap. The service was quick, and the waiters were, in a sense, friendly (at least, not rude). However, on one particular occasion, and perhaps my last, I was severely disappointed by the service here.

I was here with my mother and several family members on a weekday. Service was not too busy, food was satisfactory. We noticed on our bill that we had been overcharged for each bowl of pho by about $1.50 each bowl. My mother asked the waiter, in Vietnamese, about the bill, to which he responded without glancing at the bill, "That's just tax". However, tax was charged separately on the bill. We asked him again, and he just told us, again without looking at the bill, "That's accurate". We asked for the menu, and he did not bother to look at the menu or even hand us one to double check - he simple ignored us. We asked another waitress, who also ignored us. The previous waiter brought his supervisor, who looked at the bill and at us and gave us a VERY APPARENT and angry frown, mumbling something I could not hear and walked away. She came back and insisted it was accurate, yelling at us. We got a hold of the menu, showed them the price on the menu, and the bill was finally modified to include the correct price. The waiter was not apologetic, and after that incident I realized that the restaurant did not really value us as customers.

So after this incident, I learned to always check your bill carefully because restaurants may overcharge you without you knowing it, and to reevaluate what I value in a restaurant. I think now instead I will make a little effort to go to another pho restaurant just down the street from this one. Is the food here compelling enough for me to return? No.

This place is a nice, clean and tidy place to go to for pho. The pho is pretty good too. Some of the best that is in the area! Great hangout for larger crowds too. We had a birthday dinner there once and it turned out pretty nice!

Pho Pasteur has the fastest pho service that I've ever seen. This has to be one of the most popular pho restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley because hundreds of customers go through every hour during lunch time.

The food is very good for what you pay (around $6 a bowl). My parents and I come here to eat almost every Saturday so that should tell you how much we like the place!

My recommendations:
#1 special
Vermicilli with grilled beef and shrimp
Broken rice with grilled pork, shredded pork and egg loaf

The pho's phenomenal and the "bamboo theme" decore was most unique, it does feels like a real Vietnamese restaurant and I enjoyed it alot! The place was real busy (actually packed house) on a Sunday afternoon, but service was quick and the food came almost immediately after I ordered it.
Funny, a few months later, I visited the other Vietnamese joint that I've been patroning for more than 10 plus years and the restaurant was decked out in 'Bamboo' just like Pho Pasteur, but that didn't help much.

Pros: Original

Cons: Quantity in serving (pho)

This is one of the cleanest pho place I've been to. The decorations is unique and the food is good, specially the Pho. The price is cheap enough and service is fast.

This is the ONLY pho restaurant that I will go to. I honestly think this is the BEST pho restaurant in town. As a matter of fact, I've tried almost everything on the menu and all of their other dishes are so yummy, too. Aside from the great food, I also love this place because it's sparkling CLEAN (a rarity amongst asian food establishments). I also guarantee that you'll absolutely fall in love with the beauty and uniqueness of the decor. This place is obviously a hotspot for locals because although the restaurant is HUGE, there's always a line during lunch. My advice: avoid the lunch hour! Trust me, you won't want to go anywhere else.
