I love Manpuku. Not only is the food delicious, but it is not very costly either. Sushi rolls that are $6-7 other places are around $3-4 here. I would recommend the tempura udon, because it is seriously like 2 meals for the price of one (only around $7). It is a little aways from campus, but a quick bus ride on the 51 :)

Manpuku is the perfect Japanese restaurants for students. Lunch and Dinner items include rolls, teriyaki, chicken katsu, curry, ramen etc. You order up front and then take a seat so it's fast and good for students who don't like spending money on tip! Prices are very reasonable, about $5-7/person and the location is great, right on College Ave.

When I'm craving sushi or ramen and want it in a hurry, I come here. They have sushi made daily and prepacked for those on the go at reasonable prices. And if I want really good homemade ramen, I go to Japantown but for a quick alternative that's sooo far better than those sodium filled fried bricks of packaged noodles u buy at the grocery store, this is a great spot. They have a huge variety of ramens, yakisobas and other Japanese specialties. Great place for takeout! I'd give an xtra star if they had sukiyaki and brown rice :)

The first thing when you arrive, pick up the paper to-go menu. You order at the counter, then you find a seat. This place focuses on ramen, but also has sushi, gyoza, yakitori, and curry. I ordered a few pieces of nigiri and Miso Ramen with Chasu pork. The only thing that I can say I did not like was the way they coooked the bean sprouts. In general I like my bean sprouts lightly cooked for the texture, so it was a bit soggy for my taste. The noodle was a bit lackluster but I will leave final judgement after a few more visits as I was very impressed by the soup and the content of their miso chasu soup. The gyoza was also one of the best ones I have had at ramen places in the Bay Area.

PROS: not good for groups
CONS:
