The Lady owner tries to sell many services that you don't need and in the process you get confused and sign for some of them. She may over charge you, somethings are not clearly explained. You may have to haggle over prices. She over charged me for brakes and 60,000 mile service. Here's a topper. She couldn't get my Credit Card to work, so I gave her my Debit Card. A week later a charge for $5.95 was transacted from my checking acct. by a gaming site over seas. I seldomly use my ATM Card, and only at my Bank. So I figure someone from this shop or access to it must be the culprit. This place is only trust worthy for Oil Changes and with Cash ONLY.

Had a brake service done many yrs. ago and Rosie's ex husband, Ming didn't fix it. However, she still charged me and angrily told me that if I want I could sue her. That pesky hardball woman challenged me but I didn't budge in as it's not worth it. These people shouldn't be in this type of business if they lack courtesy to their customers and that's why I LEFT. There's lots of better auto mechanics out there.........

Took my Jeep there in the morning and it was completed that afternoon. Overall, we were very satisfied with the quality of work and at a great price. I know the part alone elsewhere would have cost us a lot more. We were not pressured

!!!WARNING!!!
Please take positive reviews for what they are worth. In the lobby, there is a sign that reads "10% off your next visit for a positive yelp review"

THE WOMAN OWNER IS EXTREMELY RUDE. SHE TRIED TO PUSH ME TO GET SERVICES THAT I DIDN'T WANT AND ULTIMATELY DROVE ME OUT OF THE SHOP WITHOUT GETTING ANYTHING DONE.

I got unnecessary phone calls where the woman owner said that she was calling to prepare the paperwork, but really just tried to push additional services I didn't want. When I got to the shop, she hounded me to sign the paperwork agreeing the additional services.

Pros: Howard, the mechanic = Trustworthy and good to deal with.

Cons: Rosie, owner/customer service = Rude, insulting, frustrating

After over $500.00 in repairs, I picked up my car in worse shape than when I brought it in.
Started to drive it home, it was in a heap of smoke. Went back and they said that they did not test drive it after they fixed it., so they did not know it smoked.
Suggested to do more trial and error work.
You would think that after 20 years in business they would know how to diagnose a problem.
Also the woman owner yells, yells, and yells.Unbelievable, unqualified place.

Pros: None

Cons: Can't Figure Out How They Stayed in Business This Long

.

I took my car in 2 weeks ago, and $500 dollars later, all they told me was, they have to keep trying and replace another part perhaps to fix my car! If this business has been in business for 20 years you would think that, they know how to isolate syptoms of a car, and not swindle you out of your money.

I tried speaking with the owner of this place, and he would try and avoid my calls. When i mentioned I would report this to the secretary of state, he just laughed and hung up the phone. There are professional places out there, but this is definintely not the one!

Pros: NOne,

Cons: They will lead you on and tell you what needs to be replaced but doesn't actually fix the problem

We were purchasing a vehicle in Fremont and after reading the reviews on this site contacted Howard on a Saturday morning and asked him if he could look at the vehicle that afternoon for us. He graciously agreed to do it last minute and did not even charge for the inspection. Instead he asked us to bring the vehicle back to him for servicing.

That's what I call a smart business man. We will be back!

I don't know what I would do without Nippon Auto Repair. I am always clearly explained all of my repair options without feeling at all pressured and also told when extra work just isn't necessary. My repairs are done quickly and at a reasonable price. It is good to know there is someone I can trust doing great work.

They were hundreds less than the dealership would charge and I didn't have to wait like I was at the dealership. I think this is yet the best third party repair shop I've found.

I have been taking my Prius, Montero and Sienna to Nippon for years. I remember when I was having trouble with my remote electronic key with my Prius and took it into the dealer. I asked them if there was a button I accidently pressed to disable my keyless entry. They wanted to charge me $149 just to diagnosis the problem. I went to Nippon without telling them the story. Howard immediately showed me the button under the dash board I must have accidently pressed that disabled the keyless entry. At the dealer it seems like I never speak to a mechanic but rather a representative who looks to make as much money as possible. Nippon actually looks at my car, explains the problem and tells me what needs to be done now and what can be done later. They always explain to me the cheaper alternative and the pros and cons of each option if one exist. I highly recommend.

Pros: Honest and reliable

Cons: A little far from where I live but worth the travel

Been taking my car out there for years now. First time I went in was to get my brakes done. They were honest about which one's i "needed" done and which ones i "had more time" with. Since then, I've been taking my baby there for routine oil changes and a tune-up. She's still going... Thanks NAR!

I've taken multiple cars to Nippon Auto Repair (I know it as Nippon Trans Motor) over the years. I know Rosie, the lady another reviewer mentioned. She is a unique individual and could be very opinionated about things. More importantly she was always fair, honest and got my work done quickly at a good price. In fact on a couple of occassions I brought cars in telling them I thought I needed one type of service. Each time after inspecting the car they informed me that the service wasn't necessary. Many shops would have take the opportunity to do the unecessary work and earn the extra $, but not Nippon.

Anyway, Rosie is not really working in the shop day to day any longer. Her son, Howard, has now taken over the business and I continue to bring my vehicles there with succes. My experiences with Nippon have always been positive.
