Daily grill has great home style foods like mom used to make. Their prices are reasonable and their service was okay. Their chicken pot pie was great.

The Best Meatloaf Ever!
by nadaprettygurl
I really like this place ... the location (Geary near Union Square), the ambience, the service and the food! I have come and gone to this place over the last 4 yrs. ... it being recommended by a friend who passed on ... for the meatloaf dish! I was amazed at how much I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service! So I came back ... just to make sure i really did like it... i found the prices to be extremely reasonable and the portions outrageous! ... meaning ... WOW ... Im gonna have to ask them to pack half of this dish! I usually order either the meatloaf or the brandy porkchops with garlic mash and broccoli and the pear gorganzola salad ... mmm...mmm...mmm... very nice. Their Lobster Bisque was also very nice. My 3 children love to eat there also... only time I have ever seen them eat all their meatloaf! Ive never had to wait more than 20 min even on a busy night (Fri and Sat) but I usually make reservations a few hours ahead. the only downfall is the parking. I cannot recall the street name but I park in the lot around the corner for $12. Ive gone there with a large party of 10 ... and they do charge an automatic 18% as most rest. do!
Pros: Prices and Quality Food
Cons: Parking

Great food
by Jim7
Had the meat loaf; it was served hot, gravy was excellent AND the a burger which was gigantic, cooked to perfection, with excellent fries. We ate on a Monday at 7PM and it was crowded but after a ten minute wait, we were seated and the service was prompt and efficient. We've eaten at this restaurant in Rancho Mirage and it is an excellent chain.
Pros: good food and service
Cons: no parking but near BART Powell St. station

Theater treat
by frantanji
This is a good choice if you're going to the theaters, just a block down Geary. After a matinee at the Curran, we showed up 15 min early for our reservation, no problem. Lovely pomegranate martinis, the pita with the hummus appetizer was warm and chewy, really good. The lamb shank looked like it was on steroids, but very tender. I had the trout stuffed with crab which was great, but the sides were only ok. The berry cobbler and fudge brownie pie were easily enough for two. May not be the most innovative cuisine, but we were very satisfied. Clientele was a little older, dare I say middle aged? Their retro feel clicked with my group of baby boomers. It was full at 7pm mid-week, so make reservations.

Just OK
by bernerbits
The ambience was good and we were seated promptly. The service was OK at the beginning but as more people came into the restaurant the server started getting a bit more rude towards us. The food was fine, but I've had far better food for the same price in this city. I wouldn't go back again.

NOT IMPRESSED
by milkyaqua
Food portions are generous. As far as steaks go there isn't much to be impressed with. The steaks are what you could make at home; limited amount of cuts/choices which seems incongruous when you are called the Daily Grill. The rest of the food is o.k. There was some couple from out of town who raved over this place and I can't think why except it's not fancy and you know what all of the ingredients are. I've had better. But if you are looking for someplace and you don't want to wait in the Cheesecake Factory for up to three hours this place is a good bet along with Max's up and across the street.
Pros: usually no wait, uncomplicated food

Kinda Snobbish...
by buglump65
went for lunch on a Thursday. Kind of pricey for lunch fare ($40) cobb salad sandwich, hambuger($10?) and a beer. Food was good, but not that good.

Not Bad for an Import
by pf94115
I first experienced this place when it first opened down in Fashion Island in Newport Beach (SoCal). For SoCal, it was a "real" San Francisco style place where you could get a decent martini, good bread and a decent plate of food. It's odd to have a branch here in San Francisco but they've done a good job. The important thing to remember is that the portions are BIG! You can easily make a meal out of an appetizer. Ask!
Pros: Friendly staff, Good drinks
Cons: Can be crowded, Parking? What's that?

Nice place, limited choices
by lisawagner72
We had a very friendly and cheerful waiter. The cocktails were pretty good. The menu gave a decent selection of entrees, I would have preferred more side dish choices -- we got twice baked potato and two choices of vegetable. But the meat was good and the value was fair for SF.
Pros: Friendly, Comfortable, Cocktails
Cons: Limited side dishes
