Straight up ahhhh...  5 Star Rating - World class

Located in a strip mall in West Los Angeles, the Massage Therapy Center may not immediately appear to be a site of total relaxation and wellness. However, don't be fooled by its facade. Unlike other spas, the MTC doesn't have to overburden you with excessive new age ambience-makers to tell its customers you're there to relax. Instead, you get a simple, clean locker room with access to plush robes and a small, yet sufficient eucalyptus steam room to add the "ooh" to your "ahs." MTC offers a variety of massage techniques and therapists that are receptive and open to tailor their session to your needs. The massage rooms are wonderfully comfortable. I've had the best massages of my life in this joint. (sigh).

PROS: You can pay for 30, 60 and 90 minute massages to match your budget.

My best massage experience ever  5 Star Rating - World class

I chose this place because a) they offer trigger point therapy, as well as about 19 other kinds of massage, and b) I could tell from their website, massagenow.com, that they care about their clients. I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed my eucalyptus steam, which I did both before and after my massage. It was incredibly relaxing and great to sweat so much. The showers are nice and roomy with plenty of hot water. The robes were silk on the outside and a softer than usual terrycloth on the inside. They were heavier than your average robe but felt amazing.
I typed up a three page thing on what was hurting and how it got that way in the first place and my therpist read the whole thing before my massage. During my massage, she really knew how to find the points that hurt. She did some stretches and release things that no other therapist has done before that I really liked a lot. She was also very communicative, asking how different spots felt to make sure I got the most out of my massage.

PROS: Heated massage tables, communicative, skilled therapist (Patricia), patient and kind reception (I kept rescheduling but no one was ever impatient with me), very quiet and peaceful atmosphere, luxurious showers and robes and yummy lotion.
CONS: If you are paying with a gift certificate, you must leave your tip in cash--you can't put only a tip on your credit card. Not a big deal, just FYI. If you forget your cash, buy something at Nijaya market downstairs and you can get up to $20 cash back and they don't require a minimum purchase. Get a Japenese treat instead of paying an ATM fee.

Great Massages, Great Service, Good Facility  5 Star Rating - World class

If you want a full day at the spa with a jacuzzi and all the extras, keep looking. But if you want a great massage in Los Angeles in a nice place you will not be disappointed.

When you first pull up to the building you may be a little puzzled because it's on the second floor of a three story shopping center that houses everything from Karaoke to a cell phone store. But don't let the outside fool you.

Once you are inside the lobby is pleasant and they offer you a complimentary Elixir tonic before or after your massage which is a nice touch. The receptionists are friendly and helpful which is a nice change of pace compared with a lot of places that offer massage in Los Angeles.

The locker area and steam rooms are small but comfortable. They have nice touches like slate showers and granite counters but it is not opulent.

The massages, however, are very, very, good. I've been there four times with three different therapists. All of them have been excellent. The receptionists are really good at m

PROS: Wonderful massages across the board.
CONS: Parking, smallish locker rooms.

Best massage in the US 5 Star Rating - World class

Tracey is the bomb! The spa is nice, pampering. Not cheap, but average prices for massages, and very high quality!

Lovely Spa, Lovely Staff, Lovely Atmosphere! 4 Star Rating - Very good

I have been to this spa only for facials. I really think Faith is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. However, I feel like there is a miscommunication between the front desk staff and the therapists. Often she doesn't know I am waiting for her which can cause confusion and stress because I am not sure if I should wait in the lounge or in the facial room but you can't ask the front desk because you aren't supposed to go out in your robe! Also, I wish you didn't have to "rig" the steam room. Usually you have to let it "air out" for a while and then turn up the temperature but it takes so long to steam that I usually go without. Also, I wish the front desk staff was a bit more knowledgable about prices and any discount cards along with figuring out their computer. Its very frustrating to have the same problems every time I check out after being so relaxed from my facial. Now for all the fantastic things: The ladies room is always clean and overstocked with slippers, cozy comfy robes, hair ties, towels in all sorts of sizes, all sorts of toiletries and most importantly...I love the cucumber water. I love the shower too and the toilet area is always spotless. I really love the decor. So serene. I feel so great when I leave there minus the front desk issues. Mark, the manager, (I think that is his name.) usually sorts everything out which is nice but it usually happens days later because he isn't always there. He is super customer service oriented. I highly recommend this place!

Pros: Great facials, decor, atmosphere, toiletries, comfort, love the secure lockers.
Cons: Front desk staff confused and do not notify therapist of guests arrival.

Best brazillian wax ever! 5 Star Rating - World class

After going everywhere in search of the perfect brazillian bikini wax (I've been getting them for 15 years or so), my search is over! Not only was it quick and remarkably painless compared to other experiences, but I didn't have any ingrowns FINALLY. Brigette uses a "waxless" wax that grabs hair and not the skin, and me and my skin couldn't be happier. I also has a brow wax from her that was great, and she finished it by giving me the best 5 minute face massage humanly possible- I felt so eat ease, I booked a massage right after! Additionally, I am in love with Hylunia products now, and I am very picky and never thought I would change. Can't wait until the locker room is a little bigger though!

Pros: Extremely skilled esthetician, great products, easy parking, late appts available
Cons: locker room could be bigger

Top Notch Therapists for Skin and Massage! 5 Star Rating - World class

I get facials and massage for a living- (I know, lucky me), and this is my personal pick. A little inside info as to WHY it's so great: every massage therapist and esthetician in LA wants to work her & massage therapists and facialts here have to go through a rigorous audition- they have to give a facial or massage to several experts before they are considered. Everyone is incredibly different, and really great at what they do. I personally like Chris and Patrina for my own needs, but it's entirely up to your personal body issues and needs- if you love deep, detailed work there are plenty of great therapists like George and Creg who thrive with these techniques. Facials: Bridgitte and Faith are both amazing, and both very different in their technique- Bridgitte spends more time on lymphatic drainage and facial lifting massage techniques; Faith is more dialogue oriented and technical. After sampling every product that comes out (again, I'm a beauty editor), the Hylunia products really stand out as no-frills, results oriented organic products. I use moslty Hylunia now, and I never thought I'd switch after being so devoted to my old regimine. The ambience is relexing and sophisticated without being overboard, and for the space, has all the steam and showers you need.

Pros: Everyone! Chris! Bridgitte! Incredible products and value & free parking.
Cons: I wish there was an MTC in every city!

Mini-Spa experience with your Massage 5 Star Rating - World class

I LOVE this place. Forget the strip mall location. Once you're inside, it's like a little sanctuary. I always get there an hour before my massage so I can take full advantage of the steam room (which is tiny but at least they have one). You can lounge about in one of the robes provided, munch on a piece of fruit and read a magazine while waiting for your massage. The waiting area in the locker room could be a little bigger (if you're the owner reading this, how about using some of that wasted space in the toilet for a waiting area?), and I wish you could "buy" a steam with no massage, but the place is still a little slice of heaven. Good therapists and a relaxing vibe. Sign up on their website for text messages and you'll get weekly discounts -- a really good deal.

Pros: steam room, massages, free parking, weekly specials
Cons: small waiting area
