5 Stars: Straight up ahhhh... (by Rima A.)

Located in a strip mall in West Los Angeles, the Massage Therapy Center may not immediately appear to be a site of total relaxation and wellness. However, don't be fooled by its facade. Unlike other spas, the MTC doesn't have to overburden you with excessive new age ambience-makers to tell its customers you're there to relax. Instead, you get a simple, clean locker room with access to plush robes and a small, yet sufficient eucalyptus steam room to add the "ooh" to your "ahs." MTC offers a variety of massage techniques and therapists that are receptive and open to tailor their session to your needs. The massage rooms are wonderfully comfortable. I've had the best massages of my life in this joint. (sigh).

PROS: You can pay for 30, 60 and 90 minute massages to match your budget.
CONS:

5 Stars: My best massage experience ever (by Amy F.)

I chose this place because a) they offer trigger point therapy, as well as about 19 other kinds of massage, and b) I could tell from their website, massagenow.com, that they care about their clients. I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed my eucalyptus steam, which I did both before and after my massage. It was incredibly relaxing and great to sweat so much. The showers are nice and roomy with plenty of hot water. The robes were silk on the outside and a softer than usual terrycloth on the inside. They were heavier than your average robe but felt amazing.
I typed up a three page thing on what was hurting and how it got that way in the first place and my therpist read the whole thing before my massage. During my massage, she really knew how to find the points that hurt. She did some stretches and release things that no other therapist has done before that I really liked a lot. She was also very communicative, asking how different spots felt to make sure I got the most out of my massage.

PROS: Heated massage tables, communicative, skilled therapist (Patricia), patient and kind reception (I kept rescheduling but no one was ever impatient with me), very quiet and peaceful atmosphere, luxurious showers and robes and yummy lotion.
CONS: If you are paying with a gift certificate, you must leave your tip in cash--you can't put only a tip on your credit card. Not a big deal, just FYI. If you forget your cash, buy something at Nijaya market downstairs and you can get up to $20 cash back and they don't require a minimum purchase. Get a Japenese treat instead of paying an ATM fee.

5 Stars: Great Massages, Great Service, Good Facility (by Jay G.)

If you want a full day at the spa with a jacuzzi and all the extras, keep looking. But if you want a great massage in Los Angeles in a nice place you will not be disappointed.

When you first pull up to the building you may be a little puzzled because it's on the second floor of a three story shopping center that houses everything from Karaoke to a cell phone store. But don't let the outside fool you.

Once you are inside the lobby is pleasant and they offer you a complimentary Elixir tonic before or after your massage which is a nice touch. The receptionists are friendly and helpful which is a nice change of pace compared with a lot of places that offer massage in Los Angeles.

The locker area and steam rooms are small but comfortable. They have nice touches like slate showers and granite counters but it is not opulent.

The massages, however, are very, very, good. I've been there four times with three different therapists. All of them have been excellent. The receptionists are really good at m

PROS: Wonderful massages across the board.
CONS: Parking, smallish locker rooms.
