Great atmosphere, great sushi, friendly servers. However, when they served us our plate, a small cockroach leaped from the plate and onto the table. The manager and the server were very apologetic and assured that pest control will come

This place has a great atmosphere, the servers are great, and the chef's are overly nice, tend to your needs, and do a great job! My two favorites are the Bubba Roll (very big) and the Albacore Sashimi. My favorite Sushi Place ever!

Cons: A little far from me (worth the drive)

I just wanted to take a quick moment to write about this place. It is in Costa Mesa, so it is perfect when you want to have a dinner then go upstairs to chronic cantina or sutra. The quality sushi is great and the prices are fantastic. I love this place and try to go at least once a month.

My best friend and I came here for her birthday and we split spicy tuna, California tempura, a rainbow roll, and edamame to start. Spicy tuna is usually my favorite, but this one was especially spicy. It wasn't bad tasting, but the heat did overwhelm,

We spent $50 total, pretty normal for a sushi restaurant.

I am inspired to write this review because I believe it is important to reward good restaurants with good word of mouth (in a manner of speaking). Sushi Zen is a restaurant that my dh and I do not get to visit often due to distance from our house, but when we do, it is always a highly satisfying experience.

Sushi Zen's food can be described as authentic Japanese sushi. I can say this confidently based on 17 years of searching for good sushi in Orange County, at the rate of 2-3 times per month. As happens often, we discovered it years ago when we were going to a movie and Sushi Zen happened to be located in the same mall as the Triange Square cineplex.

At the last visit, I ordered a spicy tuna roll, toro sushi, and a deep fried temura roll ( I forget its name). Outstanding flavors, top quality and freshness. The toro was almost shockingly expensive, but it's a rare treat for me so I can absorb the shock once in a while. The rest of the menu is reasonably priced.

It's an irony that the location of this restaurant will probably attract people who expect the American style of sushi, but then, what at treat they are in for once they sit down!

Pros: It's located in Triangle square

Cons: You have to park in Triangle square (shudder)
