A friend of mine threw me a surprised birthday here with 18 or so good friends. =) That was probably the one of the only best part of the night...having my friends with me.

They gave us a long table in the back room... another party there before us were pretty loud but that's okay. The mussels came out which were delicious... tiny sweet pieces and dipping them into butter. The rest of the dinner just went downhill after the appetizer. Everything took very long to come out.... we were waiting at one point for about 45 mins after appetizers. The entrees were not that great either for the price we were paying I could get it better somewhere else. It wasn't just be but almost everyone in the group agreed. I actually felt really bad because I had friends from Canada visiting and I was a bit upset they had to eat sub-par food and service.

Will I come back? probably only for happy hour and to order the mussels.

I love the fried artichokes at LuLu's. They are crispy and delicious packed with great flavor. Their family style serving is especially fun because everyone gets to share their food with everyone.

FOOD WAS AVERAGE - AMBIANCE HORRID - SERVICE BAD GOOD-BYE LULU WE WILL NEVER BE BACK AGAIN. We made reservations at Lulu two months in advance. Its never been a great restaurant - but the atmosphere made this place a destination. So we made EARLY dinner plans - 7PM and arrived a half hour ahead for a cocktail at the bar When our receptionist came for us, she sat us at a table in an empty back room that was about 50 degrees. HORRIBLE atmosphere - looked like an empty army mess hall. The wait staff in the room was clearly made up of the left over bus-boy staff. Unattractive, did not speak English and had no clue how to serve a table. How about investing a few dollars in HEAT - FREEZING in there

I recently attended a party at LuLu and was very disappointed.
The wait staff ignored our table and the service charge that is automatically added to the bill at the end was NOT worth the service provided.
Tables were dirty and the service did not flow.
Food was amazing but that faded away quickly when a bottle of red wine suddenly "vanished". On top of that, one of guests from out of town had their car broken into and as if that wasnt bad enough, had their suitcase stolen.
For the price and service provided, I would go elsewhere............

I've eaten here plenty of times and have almost always had at least a decent dinner so I'm going to chalk it up to an off night. But I was so disappointed. Before I say anything about the food I would like to note that the waitstaff - from hostess to bartender to server - were kind, friendly and swift. Now the food. First of all, my mother and I have frequented the restaurant over the years and were really looking forward to the grilled/fried/delicious artichoke hearts with aioli dipping sauce. They weren't available - off the menu for the time being. Mom orders the special for the night - Squab - and I was deciding between the quail and the pork. I opted for the fennel pork with OO mashed potatoes. Mom's was by far the better dish, but was still drowning in this carmelized bacon somethingorother sauce that dominated the plate. The second I saw my fennel pork plate I was disappointed. I could tell the slabs were dry and was confused by the random bone they had thrown on the plate. No seriously it was just this big rib type bone tossed in with the two too thick filets. Barbaric garnish perhaps? I cut in and noticed how the meat separated and knew it was dry city. Unseasoned, dry, practically tasteless and swimming in a watery cider type attempt at gravy. All sitting on top of enough mashed potatoes for a Thanksgiving serving which were also - watery, tasteless, unseasoned. I ate one of the filets and whatever bits of squab my mom put on my plate and scooped up a bit of the squab sauce with my potatoes to add some flavor. We enjoyed our wine and the fresh bread and dove into the brussel sprouts we ordered as a side. These were successful - perfect in fact. But I didn't come out to an $80 dinner for a few brussel sprouts. While the main plates were a loss we each discovered two new wines to add to our list, the Mt. Vernon Cab Franc and the only Italian Pinot Grigio they have on the menu. Both lovely. First thing mom said when we left was: "I think it's gone downhill."

We had lunch on an average Saturday afternoon with an uncrowded seating area. It took 45 minutes to get two sandwiches that while tasty had so few ingredients inside as to be laughable. We weren't laughing however. We asked the server to bring us the check and cancel the order. He made a listless excuse and asked if we would consider staying is he had the food on the table in less than two minutes. 10 minutes later we were served a thirteen dollar sandwich that had virtually no meat in it. Without exception, all of the other patrons who came in after us had ordered, been served and finished their meals. The server could have alerted us as to any problems with completing our order and perhaps offered an alternative. We also had to ask a different server to be bring us some bread. We were polite to the staff at all times, even though clearly agitated. Good food is only part of the dining experience. Good service enhances a good meal. Poor service leaves a sour taste. Make your own decision before dining at LuLu. You'll not find us there again.

I go out on a regular basis from Thursday- Sunday nights. Finding a nice place to dine isn't always easy. Lulu's is the best restaurant that I've ever been to!! The service is more than prompt & the food is AWESOME. I ordered the goat cheese ravioli & it couldn't have been better. They also have a huge wine list- it's almost overwelming. Their drink menu is pretty good too <---try the mango drop, it's pretty yummy. Tha manager checked on us a couple times to make sure that everything was ok. It's just a very nice & professional atmosphere all together. I'd go back, I actually already have reservations for this weekend.

Ate at Lulu's with 2 couples. Had an excellent meal with wine and appetizers. All of the food was well prepared and very flavorful.
Once we were finished with dinner, Lulu's was anxious to have our open table and offered us after dinner drinks at Azie (their sister rest, also good).
I would definitely go back.

We enjoyed every dish we ordered every time we had dinner or lunch over there. Besides that we received good services is and the interior of the restaurant also well done. I would recommend it to all my fiends!

Visited this restaurant several times now. Conveniently located close to the Moscone Center and the hotels surrounding it.

Being French, I found that the dishes I tried were not strongly influenced by France but still tasty.

The room has a good atmosphere. I particularly like the ability to be placed close to the wood fire. You can definitely feel the warmth from the fire from the tables near it. It's very nice when you just flew in from many hours away with jet lag.

Enjoyed sharing the appetizers their offer. Tried the daily specials several times and liked them. The steak is alright but I would recommend trying other dishes on the menu.

Always managed to be sat promptly with or without a reservation (never had to wait actually). Good fine especially if you are staying at one of the hotels around the Moscone.

Let's start fairly, though. I came with my boyfriend, his father, and his uncle. His uncle has frequented this restaurant since it opened, and has always been satisfied. I'm the hostess at one of this city's most renowned restaurants, so I know a thing or two about good customer service...and it REALLY lacked at LuLu. We were sat a half and hour after our reservation time. Once we sat, we ordered wine for the table. (The wine list IS extensive...not as extensive as some in the city, but definately impressive). The food was excellent: antipasti with the wine went wonderfully as starters. We ordered pizzas and pastas for main courses. The gnocci was excellent, with a sweet parmesan sage and browned butter. We finish, enjoying the last quarter of the bottle of wine, and a woman comes up to our table in a flurry (a combination of panicked, and insane would be the best way to describe it). In her panic, she says, "I REALLY NEED THIS TABLE RIGHT NOW, IT'S AN EMERGENCY AND I'D LIKE IF YOU TO MOVED TO THE BAR AREA..." My jaw drops...as does everyone else at the table. I've never, ever been asked to leave a table at a restaurant, anywhere, ever. Nor has anyone else I'm eating with. This is a fairly classy place...how could this happen? So, in my hostess experience, I come to the conclusion it must just be an inexperienced hostess who panicked and tried to solve the situation incorrectly (the correct way would have been, in the case of overbooking a table, appologizing to the party who is WAITING, and offering them a drink at the bar while they wait for a table to be vacated). We leave the table, and my boyfriend's uncle walks up to this lady and asks for the manager, and turns out, SHE IS THE MANAGER. The G.M. at that. And when he explains to her that he's a regular and that her actions were incredibly rude, she replies "I've done this before and haven't had any major problems". Need I say more? Until management changes at LuLu, they'll slowly lose the good thing they have.

Cons: Rude general manager that will ruin this gem!

The place was packed & noisy, which is not how I typically like to dine. I did go there on a weekend so this review may not be too fair. My date enjoyed herself & so did I because it is all about good company anyways; we had just met the night before so the noise level did take from our "getting to know" each other experience. The point I am trying to make is: DON'T take someone you hardly know here unless you don't want to hear her talk. Moving on: the food was superb! SUPERB! I truely enjoyed myself. The wait staff was pleasant, not overly so, but enough so & not overbearing but attentive. SO I would recommend this place.

I went to LuLu's last night for the first time and my experience was quite mixed. The ambiance was great and the food was very tasty. We ordered the antipasti and steak, both of which were flavorful and delicious. Also, as has been said, their wine selection is great. The wine recommender gave us good suggestions and was very friendly. On the negative side, I felt that although the food was good, it wasn't worth the extremely inflated price. Additionally, our waiter was often late with the food and made a very rude remark toward the end of our meal when he saw that we had "only" tipped 15%. When you're paying $70 per person, I'd say 15% isn't bad!

As an event planner for one of the bay area's largest pharmaceutical companies, I have the opportunity to dine out several times a week. My most recent visit to Lulu left me wondering how a restaurant could be in business for so long, with so little understanding of customer service. My date and I received the worst service ever, topped off by over cooked food and inflated price tags. They do have quite an extensive wine list, but a lot of good that does when they are out of your first 3 picks. This might be a good spot for visiting tourists and business people trying to escape Moscone Center's sandwich bar, but I would hope the locals realize that lack of attention to service is no longer accepting in this city.

Love their pizzas! And the flights of wine usually feature wines you'd like to try. This is a great place to meet friends for dinner and a drink. The menu has enough to please just about everyone, the room though large and loud, is pleasant, the service is usually quite good and can be excellent, and they serve food family style so it's easy to share. This is another perfect place to wind down on a weekend afternoon, or a great place for a light supper and a glass of wine after work.

It seems people can't help but having strong reactions to this restaurant!

Not easily put off by warnings of "rude" staff, I decided to try this restaurant out despite some unsavory reviews I've read. If "rude" means the staff isn't docile or there to stroke the egos of the guests, then perhaps they are a bit rude. But if rude means they are pedantic or incompetent in reference to the menu and extensive wine list, then they certainly are not.

Our server not only gave us incredible recommendations off of a very intimidating wine list (allowing us to sample grapes and styles unfamiliar to us), she also navigated her way through the menu with ease and command. She seemed to give very honest opinions about the food, what not to miss. We listened and enjoyed the food tremendously. Pan roasted mussels, fresh garlic and goat cheese ravioli, delicious duck from the rotisserie, meyer lemon cheesecake-- everything perfect.

Management graciously came by and inquired how we were enjoying our evening, the waitstaff seemed to be very comfortable in the restaurant and very confident at their tables, the food was fresh and prepared perfectly, wine was outstanding. We really had a great experience.

It is too bad these other folks have had unpleasant reactions to LuLu, because I can attest-- a very wonderful evening can certainly be had at this San Franicisco gem.

This many negative reviews cannot be wrong! I wish I had read them before I embarked on my unsavory dining experience. LuLu is still a busy restaurant, quite often actually, but I cannot for the life of me understand why a person would return to this establishment a second time. The staff is rude and unhappy. Whats even worse is that the management is so unfriendly and unaccommodating you'll spend your dinner trying to figure out why they work there when they appear to hate their jobs so much. Some menu items satisfy, but the majority of the dishes are way overpriced for their miniscule size and either over or under cooked. Again, heed the warnings and spend your well earned money at another restaurant.

If you are in to slow, rude service, and below average food and drinks at above average prices, this might be the spot for you. I really don't see the attraction to this place. After a lengthy wait (told 'your table is being cleared' when there were clearly plenty of tables open), it took 15 minutes to get drinks ordered, and when they finally arrived, one was wrong, and they were both small and weak. After flagging down the waiter, he recommended pizza (below average at best) and fresh fish of the day with fresh vegetables. The nickel size piece of fish arrived severely over cooked with quite the combination of fresh 'vegetables' (lima beans, Greek olives, sliced tomatoes, cheese, and a hard boiled egg). I guess they ran out of fresh vegetables? The waiter disappeared after taking the order, and I had to grab the busboy to get more water, and the bill. Do yourself a favor before going to Lulu, find another restaurant for the evening. However, if you must go here (there were a lot of large groups), significantly lower your expectations and prepare to open your wallet for the privilege.

The Folsom street fair comes along once a year. A time to witness leather clad couples exchanging numerous forms of torture right in the middle of Folsom street. If your taste for torment for the year wasn't filled at the fair you can always wonder down to Lulu at 816 Folsom anytime!~

At Lulu they truly excel at giving you painful evenings. They start off by luring you into their tasteless establishment with smells of wooden fires. They then embrace this tasteless interior with a crew connected together with headsets that remind you of fast food drive through windows. As agonizing as that seems the punishment only furthers.

As the meals arrive on top of k-mart tableware, the first taste lets you know what is soon to come. Boring meats, overcooked veggies, and old pasta come together to give your stomach a quite unique sensation, one you'll soon remember for a week! Lulu leaves you with an aching in your stomach days after you're done and a reminder of why you should never return.

If you do plan on coming to Lulu for a painful experience I would suggest you save your money by politely asking the angry valet to strike you in the stomach. You'll achieve the same feelings this way without wasting your time.

Pros: Pizza wasn't bad

Cons: Uneasy stomach a week after eating.

My story might be an odd one, but one worth sharing. See, I never actually got to dine at LuLu on my last visit because they were closed for a private party. Unfortunately, that factor did not shield me from an encounter with their sarcastic, rude and completely unprofessional management and staff. My date and I were allowed to enter the restaurant with no notice that they were shut down for the evening. We were later pointed towards a sign that was as big as a post it note - on the backside of the front door, facing the wall (nice place for it). When we were finally spotted at the bar, we were addressed as if we were trespassers on private property. Then, the hostess rudely told us that we had to leave right away because of a private event that was about to begin. She even went as far as asking us how we got in. This was after we were already served a beverage at the bar. Unacceptable behavior on all counts. I had suggested this venue as one of my favorite spots for this first date. Needless to say, I was left with egg on my face.

Sadly, after 10 years as a faithful customer, I have to retire my recommendation. I have been entertaining client groups here for years, but recently I find that the wait staff is unpolished, and the management seems inexperienced and unprofessional in responding to customer concerns. The food is still good, but let's face it, food isn't quite as tasty when you are recieving bad service. As well, I agree with an earlier reviewer -- the restaurant needs remodeling. All in all, I get a sense that the wonderful staff the restaurant had 'once upon a time' has moved on to nicer restaurants.

I won't be back.

I would hate for my first posting on Citysearch to be negative, but my LuLu experience was too awful to sugar coat. I have been a longtime patron of LuLu for 6 years. On my last visit, we were treated rudely by the front door staff, the condescending waiter and worst of all...the manager. Our complaints were far from "minuscule" (as they were referred to by the female manager). We were seated 45 minutes past our reservation time, the kitchen was out of 4 main courses, wine was spilled all over my wife and we had to wait over 30 min. for our bill (which was not even discounted in the slightest bit). Customer service is obviously not one of their focuses.

We had a party of 14 there on 7/28/06 and received horrible service. First the hostess told us that we couldn't be seated until our entire party arrived, which I would understand if the restaurant was packed. But when we went to the side area (where all the large tables are), there were 3-4 empty tables. Our server was very slow - she didn't ask if we wanted water for at least 5-10 minutes and then took another 10 minutes to come back to our table so we could order wine. After we ordered, we waited over 40 minutes before asking our server where our food was. She rudely told us that we had ordered the steak which takes 45 minutes to make. We asked if we could have the rest of our food in the mean time (we were on a time budget) and she even more rudely replied: "well, that's not how you told me you wanted your food so that's not how the order was placed." She never even gave us the option of placing our order like that or gave us a courtesy warning & suggested that we start with the other dishes. We were all very appalled. One of us was celebrating a birthday & our server said she'd bring out a dessert. We waited another 5-10 minutes after paying the bill and then as we were all standing up to leave, she brings over a small dessert. The only shining moment was that the food was good - the pork chops were very moist and the potatoes were also delicious. The quail was not thoroughly cooked (still kind of red) and she informed us that's how it should be.

We had a horrible experience July 18, 2006 and would never ever recommend it to anyone.
It started with the server wondering in an arrogant fashion if the 4 appetizers that we ordered for the party of 5 people would really be all. Typically people would order more, he said. When asked for a side order of potatoes other than mashed (fries, or fried potatoe etc.), he stated that the Chef would not do these kinds of requests. A manager confirmed this statement. To my response that this is quite unusual for a restaurant of this price class, she simple said she was sorry I felt that way.
Finally, we chose a Spanish red wine, 1998 vintage. The waiter came back to tell us they don't have the wine. Minutes later, he returned to say "I was kidding, we have the wine.." and tried to serve a bottle of a later vintage (2000, which is a much inferior year).
This rounded up the miserable experience we had at that place. Food was no more than ok, certainly not great.

I went here for drinks on a Fri night and had a really good time. The bartender said that the prime rib Sun was one of the best in town. I have to say it was very good. The serving was big enough for two and it was cooked perfectly. The potaoes that it is served with was also very good. I thought that the wine list was also nice. They also have a huge by the glass selection. I really enjoyed my experience.

I have always recommended this restaurant to guests of my hotel in the past, but no more. Visited last week and had the rudest service ever. In additon, the place looks like it hasn't had a cleaning or any maintenence/updates since it opened up well over 10 years ago. On the night that I visited, they were very busy but mostly because of the convention in town. I think most of the SF residents have moved onto better restaurants that offer more friendly, personalized service. The food was good but the overall experience overshadowed any nice tastes left in my mouth.

I was at LuLu last week, and a year ago. It is definitely not a first date kind of place, because it is always too noisey in there. The food was okay, very very average. Porkloin was dry and fish was fresh but not cook to flavor, it was plain. It has a huge selection of wine list. The dessert was very average as well, it is not worth for what you would pay for.

We showed up at 10pm on a Saturday. Were seated promptly, but then waited 15 min for a server to show up. We ordered the "special" roasted duck, and a salmon dish. The duck was DRY DRY DRY. I've ordered duck at dozens of top restaruants and I've never had worse. When I mentioned this to the server, the response was "I just got great reviews from one of my other tables about our duck." She did comp us the duck, but it still wasn't the appropriate response, and honestly the duck should have never been served to us. The only thing about this restaurant that was good was the atmosphere. The lighting is very well done, and it's very cozy and energetic at the same time. I only wish they replaced the chef and trained their waitstaff. It's certainly overpriced for what it is.

Went to LuLu last weekend, had the worst service I had ever experienced. It took 45 minutes to get our drinks, and when we asked our server why the wait was so long his reply was that we just had to "bare with it!" One of the guests in our party started taking drink orders and going to the bar himself returning in less that a minute with the beverages. We complained to the management they were un helpful and did not seem to give a damn. The worst part of it was since we were a party of 8 they tacked on their 18% gratuity. Oh and the waiter bad mouthed us to the table next to us saying that the reason he was neglecting them was because we were being so difficult! My advice to him if you can't stand the heat get out of the restaurant business!!!

I love the setting of this restaurant. The tables are the perfect size for dates. Our waiter, while extremely gracious, had an undertone of disdain. We were looking for our waiter half the time we were sitting there. The food itself, aside from the appetizer, was extremely rich. The appetizer (small dish) was very good. (Some kind of salad with sun-dried tomato and blue cheese?) If you are going in a group of about six, make a reservation to have a corner booth.

Food was below average while price was vice versa but that doesn't matter because your whole time there will be spent steaming over the service. It gave an impression that the waiters goes out of their way to avoid you; you have to wave your hand just to get their attention. Never did they come ask how we were doing or filled up water or replaced bread. Food took over 1.5hrs to get here after appetizers. By the end, we all just wanted to go but found that they PUT TAX ON TIP. Manager was unapolgetic, rude and uncaring when we tried to explain to her the situation. When we were leaving, they stormed outside accusing us of not tipping but counted again and whispered a sorry without eye contact. AVOID at all cost because it will cost you alot.

My wife and I had a terrible experience with this restaurant. We tried out the 3 course pre-fixed manual which is $31.00 each person. What I ordered for the main dish is "beef stew", my wife "fettuccine with mussel". When they arrived, both of us can't believe our eyes: the fettuccine is virtually good for only 3 bits, with three tiny mussels in. The beef stew looks exactly like a canned beef soup. We asked the waitress whether this is a mistake as we were here for dinner. The waitress said portion was small simply because we had pre-fixed manual. Besids, the food taste awful, very salty fettuccine, and blend tasted beef soup. No one came to ask us about the food although we complained to the waitress. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, as we think not only the food is not, it's actually a rip off.

I've been going to Lulus since the early 90s when they first opened up, and it's still running strong. Great wine list, many wines by the taste or half glass, as well as solid drinks poured by the bartenders. Kumamoto oysters and prawns are always a must, followed by the portabello w/polenta, the proscuitto pizza, the cast iron skillet mussels, the rotisserie chicken and pork loin are solid bets. I've moved on from it being one of my faves after college, but I still find my way back.

Tried Zibiboo and it was alright so I decided to try out LuLu for a best friends' surprise birthday party. The host did not show the birthday boy and myself the table, rather just pointed and told us to find it ourselves. Rowdy groups seating near us were screaming and staff didn't help to calm the situation.Service was extremly slow and we waited 1 1/2 for our entress after we had our apetizers. Apparently, the waitress did not put in our orders right away knowing that the steak takes 45 mins to cook. The assistant mgr came to explain but did not help at all and stated that it was the best they could do. No complementary appetizer or apology and still charged us 18% for graduity. It was my worth bday experience and our friends from Canada hated the food and the experience

Used to be a huge fan. Went recently and was not impressed. The food - average and expensive. We were with a group of 8... might as well have been 20. Was so deafening you could only talk/hear the person next to you. Our waiter took advantage of the noise, chaos, and large group by bringing out a bunch of app's we didn't order - doubling the order for each side of the table. We caught on and made him take it back. So lame to try to jack the price by taking advantage of a group. One guy never received his entrée - gave it to him in a doggy bag on the way out. During dinner a nearby table collapsed, plates and glasses crashing to the ground. No acknowledgement/apologies from the staff. Definitely not a relaxing night out. Too bad. I really used to like the place.

I recently had dinner at Lulu and what an experience. I can see how it's made it all of these years. The food was still as wonderful as I remember and the friendly service; no wonder it's outlasted most restaurants in San Francisco. So... I would say check it out! Things are still incredible!

I don't normally write editorial feedback but this experience was too awful to keep to myself. I attended a dinner for around 20 guests at LuLus. It was planned on the recommendation of a colleague who visited last year. First bad experience was with their party planner. He was condescending, rude and made me feel as if my group wasn't large enough to deserve his time. To make matters worse, we were seated 30 minutes after reservation time, tables were so tight together that the waitress bumped each guest as she served our table and the food was just o.k. for how pricey it was. SF offers much better for what we paid ($2,000!).

This has to be by far the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at in San Francisco. It wasn't that the food was bad, it wasn't, but the majority of the staff was extrememly rude.
While waiting for our table at the bar, the bartender was too busy speaking to her friends to ask us if we needed anything. Once seated, it took another 20 minutes to receive water and a basket of bread. When our waitress finally arrived, she didn't know what the specials were. It took another half hour for our food to arrive, which by then had to be sent back because it was cold. Whomever said this is a great place to eat is sorely mistaken.

Being that Lulu is a well known restaurant in SF I decided to give it a second try. And again I wouldn't rate it anything above average. The food is okay but nothing special. The place is crowded and noisy. It is also just a big restaurant, so it doesn't have an intimate feel. I guess it can be good for big parties but that is about it. I wouldn't go there if you are looking for a real find or an occasion to remember.

Went here after seeing it was in the Chronicle's Top 100. Some of our faves had dropped out, so wanted to see what was so good about some of the other places. We eat out often in SF and were not impressed by the pricing -- the quality was poor for what we paid, fish was overcooked, and who wants to pay $11 for a salad when the waiters wear jeans?! Wine list was overpriced and didn't leave much for someone who wants a bottle under $40. Beware--the open rotisserie will mean you'll leave smelling like sweet wood smoke -- only slightly preferable to cigarettes!

CitySearch should re-evaluate their rating if they give this place a 9.0!!! We had 6 in our party which is not overwhelming. @e will not be going back based on our experience!!! We had a reservation and took them while to seat us. Our order was not taken promptly. Appetizers came right away but we didn't get our entree until an 1.5 hr after we ordered. The service was atrocious!! Never once did they ask to see how we were doing. Once we were finished with dinner we asked for the cake. We waited 10 minutes before we got it. They took it back to cut and another 15 minutes goes by. This is an ice cream cake and it was melted by the time they brought it back out. By this time we had talked to the manager twice who was not even apologetic.

$112.00 for two, with only 1 glass of wine and 1 cocktail. Where do you begin. Its not the dollar amount that bothers me, hardly, its the lack of value,i.e, the very cold signature lamb dish, (which btw is suppose to be served hot) the very non existent service, 45 mins between appetizer and entree. Party of 4 sits down 25 mins after we did, was served first and finished before we did. With so many restaurants to choose from in the City, I certainly wouldn't recommend spending your time and or money here. I know we will never be back. Super Super disappointing :(

I've been to Lulu a few times and everytime was great! Most recently I went for New Year's Eve and the menu was impressive. The staff is always really friendly and the bartenders are fun to talk to. Steph in particular was really effiecient and pleasant. Unlike other reviews I found the manager to be very professional. (glasses, goatee) He asked how our meal was on the way out and welcomed us back. I'll definitely be dining at Lulu again soon. Try the profiteroles for dessert!

I have eaten at LuLu in years past, with good success. But I cannot express how badly we were treated by the staff at Lulu at the most recent visit. Our group of 6 waited 45minutes after our reservation (after watching several others tables placed in our stead), as the hostess overlooked the order of seating her tables. 2 1/2 hours from seating to exit was uncalled for. Not one apology, no expression of "delay in the kitchen". Our final experience in the restaurant was trying to kindly express to the manager our disappointment in the service and food. Instead of providing customer service, the manager was exceptionally belligerent and argumentative, and showed a complete lack of professionalism. We all left with our jaws open. I have never experienced such poor service in any restaurant, and I NEVER thought I would be someone to write a review like this.

Good food! However the staff can be a little more friendly. This was my second visit to Lulu and boy! have times changed. There are so many restaurants in San Francisco , but after this last visit I would not go back because of the service or lack thereof.
