We checked this place out of my friends b-day and it was fun BUT super busy. We got there around 10:00pm and there was a huge line. WE didn't have to wait to long but when we got inside you could not move or dance. I would recommend this place to have a drink and hanging out but not dancing. The music was good and no cover charge. The door guys where nice too not all LA crazy.

I never ever ever write reviews but I had to for The Hideout. I stumbled upon this place by shear luck- i was searching places to go for my 23rd bday on citysearch and out of nowhere it came up. I think they were promoting their holiday parties, so I checked it out. Being a starving artist, I couldnt drop major dough for a party, so I checked for the important things first. No cover-check. Free to book a table- Check! (They even give you a choice of bottle service or no bottle service), super easy to do on the website. And right now they are having a deal when you book the lounge you get a free bottle of champagne! who does that?! I quickly emailed the manager thinking this was too easy, or some kind of joke. Niko, the manager/bartender replied and called back super fast and was very polite. My party ended up being too small for the lounge, so we got two tables near the dj booth downstairs-perfect! best seats! He also threw in FREE champagne to toast!! unbelievable!! As a bonus the bar/lounge itself has such a great ambiance, very intimate yet gives you that party feeling. It may not be a typical "club" but after a few drinks it won't matter, you'll dance anyway. Bottomline, I found a little diamond in the rough and ended up having the best birthday party ever and didn't spend a dime!!

Pros: no cover, free to book a table, great for parties

Cons: 30mins from where I live (but worth it!)

This spot is up there with Elevate even though they are in two different categories. Its mellow and has great drink. Great find

The Hideout is the perfect place for parties. They either have the upstairs private lounge, or tables to reserve in the main lounge. There's no cover charge, they do not charge for table reservations, or even require bottle service...it's great! It's such a chill atmosphere with all the bells and whistles and without the Hollywood drama. I would definitely recommend to have a party here...and even check it out on Karaoke Thursdays for 1/2 price drinks and free tacos. The Hideout is the kinda bar that you really want, but usually doesn't exist in LA.

This place rocks. I had my birthday party here and couldnt have been happier. The music was incredible, and the drinks were great! The staff is really nice and friendly too, not all snooty like so many other places. They definately add to the really cool vibe going on. The place is awesome, and I especially love the smoking padio. Its hard to find a cool place where you can drink and smoke in a beautiful charming outdoor padio. The place has lots of different areas to hang out. I love it, I cant wait to come again. This place is for sure a hot spot in Santa Monica. Oh and the staff are all really good looking! Thats always a plus. Oh and the manager was really awesome, he treats every guest like a friend and that is truly remarkable.

I just had my 30th birthday party there on a Saturday night, and it was the BEST EVER! The music was great with mostly 80's playing and it was just the right volume... quiet enough to have a conversation, and loud enough to enjoy. The bartenders were fast and friendly...and they even remembered what I was drinking all night. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great party, or a get together with friends. The Hideout lounge offers a cool vibe that caters to the neighborhood and attracts a great crowd...I'm definitely coming back!

Saw the high user rating on city search, and the Hideout webpage stating that Wednesdays were 1/2 price (beers & well drinks) days, so some friends and I decided to check it out. We're always down to check out new venues. We were very dissappointed when we got there... the place is as big as my living room, there were literally like 5 other people there, and the drinks at 1/2 price were still $7. Overall, we expected too much before going there, maybe if we didnt have such high expectations, we would of had a better time.

Pros: Parking, Privacy

I've been here a few times and the atmosphere is very casual and relaxed - refreshing when you need to get away from the strip. The DJ (asian guy) was awesome - great blend of pop, hip hop and eighties music. Great place to hang out with friends. Unfortunately, people weren't particularly attractive.

i threw my friend a surprise party here and it was a lot of fun. i dont know about the previous reveiw with hot chix...didnt see any...the crowd was kind of random, but i did see a few celebs which was surprising. everyone was having a good time. dj was pretty bad, but did play some dancing hits...overall a fun time.

Not for everyone. I went there simply because I did my research online and found The Hideout to have great reviews. It was my sisters last/first nite in l.a. as well as my gf and I so we were excited to head out to The Hideout.

In short, inside is nice in calming yet if you plan on dancing, go elsewhere! Your probably thinking well if I dont like it I'll go elsewhere. Well the greeters were rude when asked if there was another club near by. Didn't even give out a clear response. inside it was a bit crowded the music wasn't as loud as one would expect. And the drinks are over priced.

If you just want to stand and have a couple drinks in a small room while no one is really dancing then this place is for you.

By the way, this IS NOT A CLUB! Its a Bar! I was disappointed.

Cozy, neighborhood bar offers mellow tunes and plenty of places to lounge. Great space for a b-day party or an after work hangout. Drinks are strong and location off PCH gives it a much different vibe than the usual Hollywood or westside hangouts. I highly recommend it!

This place is small but cozy. There were a few bday parties going on so it was pretty crowded when I went Saturday night. I was looking forward to hear the DJ spin music after everyone on this board said he plays great music. Maybe it was a different DJ that night, but he was OK. They need more speakers up in that joint because it wasn't loud enough. There isn't really a dance floor, people just dancing wherever. I was expecting cheaper drinks, but maybe cuz it was a weekend night, they raised the prices. I would go back, but only if I had a group of friends to go with.

given that there aren't too many happening spots in santa monica, or the westside for that matter, and after seeing the 9.4 rating by citysearch, i couldn't wait to check this place out. i finally got my chance last friday and although i was a little disappointed at the size of the place, i was pleased that there was no cover, the bartenders were friendly, and it didn't get uber-crowded like the clubs and lounges in hollywood. the dj spinned great music, mainly hip hop mixes from the 90's and 00's, and the crowd was really laidback and chill. my only complaint was the limited selection of high end alcohol and the decor. but the fact that i'm a girl and didn't have to wait to go totally won me over.

I have been at the Hideout the last three Fridays. The drinks are affordable amd the bartender, Dan, remembers what I drink. The DJ spins the best tunes, from 80s to modern day hip-hop, with a few old rock and disco tunes throw in. It is a late 20s, early 30s crowd. They have an upstairs area to retreat to and a patio if you are a smoker. I will continue going back, instead of waiting in line at some trendy high priced club and paying a steep cover charge.

Friday nights here are sooooo fun!!! The atmosphere is incredible (def best on the Westside by far!) and the DJ plays all the great hip hop songs from the early 90s. My girlfriends and I had such a great time there. Drins are not too expensive and dancing to great music. So much better than waiting in line in Hollywood to pay $20 at the door of some cheesy club. I will definitely be a regular here!!!

My friends and I went by last saturday after work, and had an absolutely amazing time!

We had heard about the bar from other friends, and after mixed reviews decided to try it out, which I am really glad we did! The dj was amazing, spinning oldie's and new songs as well...the bar was filled with some great looking, and surprisingly social people, and the best part was that the drinks were very reasonably priced for LA. We were dancing up a storm, and the bartenders were quick with drinks as well.

Seriously, this bar is a great local hangout, as well as a relief from the hollywood scene.

Great service, great people, great music....you can't go wrong, and we are heading there again this saturday.

They were telling us about tuesdays too, and rumor has it its a great after work cocktail bar as well.

My girlfriends and I went to The Hideout the last 2 Saturday nights and the place had lines to get in both weekends. Once inside it's so much fun because it's 80's night and everyone is dancing, drinking and just letting loose. The place is unlike any bar on the Westside. There's NO COVER CHARGE, an awesome dance floor lined with couches that seem to always be packed with girls dancing on them and enjoing bottle service. It's like a cool Hollywood club without the attitude and $20 cover. The only problem now is that it seems the word is out and everyone knows about The Hideout. We also heard that they have an awesome Karaoke night on Tuesday's.

This bar disappointed me. I had read some great things about it, but nothing I read seemed true. The drinks were really pricey (each being between $10 and $12), the music was terrible (it was supposed to be 80s night since it was a Saturday, but they played bad trance the entire night), and it was so crowded it took me forever to even make it over to the bar. The one good thing was the back patio, albeit it overcrowded. I liked the couches and the heaters kept things warm.

My bf and I went there last Wednesday around 7pm for Happy Hour, and there was absolutely nobody there. They were sweeping the floor. Also, a friend of mine went on a Friday night and said that barely anybody showed up until 10pm, and martinis are $12!! I love the location and the bar itself, but it doesn't seem like it's caught on yet. Plus, $12 for a martini is ridiculous. I'll wait until the crowd improves..

I read the great review the LA Times did on the hideout about a month ago and decided to check it out last Saturday night. First of all there was no cover charge which is VERY unusual in this day and age, the DJ was spinning 80's music and the dance floor was crowded. The vibe of the place was great, very low light, a smoking patio with couches to sit on and the drink prices were reasonable. We were also suprised in the amount of good looking people and the fact that no one had any attitudes, people were there to truly have fun. I recommend everyone check this place out on a Saturday night!

When I first came to the Hideout, it reminded me of Liquid Kitty, except, its a little brighter and bigger. This place is tucked away near PCH next to a celebrity haunt, Giorgio Di Baldi. When I went there on a Saturday night, the place was hopping, good DJs playing house and hip hop (even a little 80s), I even saw Sean Penn walking around and Keanu Reeves with a gaggle of females. The best part about this place is the drinks, the bartenders are good, plus the drinks aren't expensive, compared to most westside bars (no drinks over 8). The people are pretty laid back too, none of the pretentious hollywood bs that you get from most westside places. You'll either like this place or you dont...dont expect this place to be packed during the week.

This Bar is sooo fun. It's not overly crowded like most of the clubs and bars on the westside. My boyfriend and I went there on our anniversary and we had a lot of fun. We were able to dance and just have fun. I would highly recommend this place to all of my friends.

After reading such positive reviews recently, I decided to bring a very special lady in my life to the Hideout for what we thought would be a night of fun and romance. (She loves dancing and we had a great time the week before at Harvelle's on 4th Street). We couldn't believe that after we had the valet take our car this place was almost empty!!! A few people were drinking at the bar, but not a soul was in the area set aside for dancing. There are about six sofas with tables on which to set drinks. The online ad and reviews are completely misleading. We would never go back or recommend this place to anyone.

Cons: totally dead on Thurs, disappointing, no body goes here

We love to dance and from the reviews, we THOUGHT the Hideout would be fun last Thursday night. We were so disappointed. We arrived fashionably late after having dinner and drinks at Moonshadows. There was NO ONE in the dance floor area...just empty sofas. 6-8 drinkers were at the bar. We had paid the valet so we stayed and had a drink thinking maybe it would begin to live up to it's hot reputation from the so called reviewers. Luckily we enjoy each other's company. We could have "done" just about anything because only two other couples came in during the hour and half we were there. Finally around 11PM we left. Unless this place came to life after that, it is NOT the hot spot they want you to think it is. Save your valet money and go to some other place if you really want to have fun.

Unless this place came to life after that, it is NOT the hot spot they want you to think it is. Save your valet money and go to some other place if you really want to have fun.

Pros: lots of room to dance, no other dancers, lots of room to sit

Cons: no body there hardly, empty on Thurs night, had to pay valet

I have been to alot of places in LA and had a great time at most of them. I went to the Hideout last Thursday night and had the best time of my life. It was not to crowded but the people were fun, the music was great, and the bartender was very attentive, funny, and VERRRRY HOT!!! My girls and I danced to 80's/ Rock and hip hop, and hung out on the patio enjoying the beautiful night. I will be there every Thursday night.

One of my girlfriends had her birthday party there on Saturday night and the place was super cool yet simple. The bar was lit with candle light and even had purse hooks which my friends and I loved. We danced all night to the 80's dj and the drinks were very cheap. The pool table upstairs and the outdoor smoking patio with couches and tables makes the place feel very warm and sexy. There were also had plenty of good looking people and the best part was no cover charge. We'll be back soon.

Fabulous!!!!!!!!! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great location in Santa Monica Canyon. Very dark inside with candles lighting up the place. Smoking patio tops it all off. Great selection of drinks, excellent martini's and the Thursday night bartender is the greatest. He made the night so much fun and happening!! Me and my girls danced to 80's, rockn roll, and a little hip hop. A very good mixture of music. We will be back tomorrow

In a failed attempt to find a loungy scene on the westside that did not consist of smarmy guys attacking us at the door, insisting to buy us drinks with their mom's credit card, we fell into the Hideout. This was right up our alley. Great Thurday night crowd~good looking people, young and old, vibing out to an ecclectic range of 80's remixes. The outdoor smoking lounge was a plus. Definitely going to be our new spot.
