This place is nestled and hidden really well. it's worth finding. Great reggae nights and hot guys. Cool bartenders and great crowd. Casual and fun for the westside - great if you're trying to avoid Santa Monica.

This is not a club it is a bar. I went one night. Won't return. The ladies room look like the ladies room at a gas station. This place was a place for loser who want to think that they went to a club. The dj ssucked big time.

It's truly a workout once you get inside it's hot as 'HELL", but if you came to dance like your suppose to in a club your good. . No dress code so it's not the "Hollywood" spot, No fakes. Now getting there early is not the issue, It's not packed till 11*00 11*30. Everyone working there is very chill. Drinks are very well made and cheap. Friday nights are hot, very live. My girls and I are there when we just can't decide what to do, but when ever I just want to go dance and have a good time this is it. I've been there Tuesdays and Saturday and always enjoy my nights.

This is a great chill place to go and enjoy the good selection of music. As soon as you enter you feel completely relaxed and ready to enjoy the night. It's a bit tight with space but it creates an intimate setting like typical New York bars. The dance floor is a small square but there is ample room for dancing, on or near the dance floor. The bartenders were cordial and attentive. The people there were incredibly diverse but by the end, though, there appeared to be more of a hip hop crowd on the dance floor, especially once the old school hip hop songs started playing. I loved it and definitely will go back there soon.

Worth a try for a little different feel than the usual Culver City hang-outs. Fairly strong drinks and a few hotties to talk too.

I'll try to be as nice as possible....this place is definitely not what I expected. Went on a Friday night and the place was packed by 11pm. Problem was, the crowd was super getto. Definitely not a crowd you'll see out in Hollywood. But they did have really strong and cheap drinks. The DJ was ok as well, but not enough for me to go back. I guess there's a reason I stay in Hollywood.

I just discovered this hot spot a week ago. I'm not much into the club scene anymore, being that I'm now married. I just wanted a night out with my girlfriends to hang out and have some really good drinks. They took me to this place and my first impression when we entered at around 10:30 was, "this is going to be a sorry night!". The place is smaller than my 2-bedroom apartment! It was lit with red light and there were about 10 people at the bar and two in the lounge area. There was music playing but not of my interest. In my club days, if the people and the music weren't jumping, I'd leave and move on to the next. So, we sat down in the lounge area and ordered our drinks, which were very inexpensive and very well made! We sat down and started taking pictures and watched the crowd finally start coming in. Withing 30 minutes the place was so crowded, the good music started playing, and everyone started dancing. I couldn't believe how fast the place got packed with such a diverse crowd! My friends and I had such an unforgettable time. We ended up having a bit too much to drink and dancing all over the place (something i totally wasn't expecting). If you are looking for something totally different from the trendy Hollywood scene and just out to have some good drinks and listen to some great music and just CHILL, this is the place. I will be back.

Carbon is a nice local lounge. Dress code is casual. Drinks are reasonably priced. DJ's spina mix of old school hip-hop and funk. Atmosphere is fun, there is a lounge area, bar and dance floor. Lots of fun, I recommend stopping by if you are in the area and you don't want to go to another trendy LA bar.

This is not a dance club. Which is why I love it. It is a Lounge Bar, very cozy and comfortable. I like that fact that it is open everyday (including Sundays) until 2am. A must, if you are not into the club scene of Los Angeles.

This is a cool little underground spot to hang out at. The DJs spin a good mix of old school hiphop, current chart toppers, and nice reggae grooves. It can get a little crowded but its all good though.

Culvery City has long been overdue for a nice, laid-back club venue. Carbon, formely a restaurant called Sloppy Joe's, is a cool little lounge playing some fly hip-hop on Saturday nights. A nice vibe and chill folks make for a fun place to go. Just hope the door staff don't kill it with the unnecessary attitude.

very chill, dark-lit lounge/bar that has 2 TVs playing old black-and-white movies w/ a red-lit screen for added hipness. the DJs spin a variety of music, depending on the night, one of the more enjoyable nights being Tuesdays, where Reggae is the sound of choice. definitely a cool place for a drink if you can handle small spaces, and little dance room.

Low-key dance spot with lots of reggae, hip-hop and sould spinning for kids to dance too. And dance they do, with the floor packed for most of the night. This bar is nothing flashy and the crowd is a diverse mix of Angelenos from all over the city who all seem to enjoy themselves.

First impression, arriving around 10:30 on a Saturday night: Cozy, nice atmosphere, but a little too chill. Less than an hour later, the DJ got going and the 'too chill' vibe disappeared as the club filled in and people started dancing. The DJ was excellent, spinning mixes of modern RnB with some early Beastie Boys, reggae and a healthy dose of James Brown. The crowd and staff were friendly and lively - none of the patented LA pretentiousness you see in most clubs. Drinks are reasonably priced and decently made. All in all, a very nice venue.

I love Carbon, just discovered this little hidden secret last weekend with some friends. It was the perfect place to get together with friends and have a casual night out. The DJ's spin really great old-school hip hop and R&B, place is a bit small but it has the feeling of being at a highschool houseparty.

Carbon was the spot! I normally drive by and keep driving since I wasn't sure what to expect. My boyfriend came down from the bay and had a few drinks for dinner and still were up for a few drinks. Since I live blocks from Carbon, I decided to just stop by. We had a GREAT time! Sunday seem to be a slower night but with the people that had been there.. we all took shots together and laughing/joking as if we've all known eachother for years. That is the kind of place we need more of! How's the song from Cheers go again?? :) Keep it up Carbon, I'll be seeing you often!!

What can i say about this low-pro spot? Great music, cool people, strong drinks, nice atmosphere, no attitude. Been there a few times for birthday parties on Fridays and we had a blast. It's good to see DJ's that don't play all house or all hip-hop, which seems to be the norm in LA. On friday's, the DJ's play a good mix of soul, funk, reggae, and latin music and they get the dancefloor jumpin'. Lotsa pretty girls too and a good mix of people make this a much needed place in this pretentious town. Cool vibe, nice strong drinks and good service. No cover, free parking and a good central location make this the new spot.

I have been going to Carbon for about a month now. I love it. A good mix of people in age, size, color and style, and everyone has a good time. The beer is cold, bartenders friendly, a great place to take a date or hangout after work. I think i have been there every night of the week .. and their DJ's are the BOMB. Tuesday Reggae night is my fave with DJ's from Jamaican Gold spinning!!!! Carbon is right on the money. Thanks guys!

Initially, us two girls loved the place. You walk in, get totally enveloped by the darkness and cozy glow of the coppery red lights. Music is fantastic. Bartender is cute (yeah you know who you are). But then 20 minutes later, you're inside the freakin club but realize very much on the outside. People are huddled together, nobody so much as glances at you much less offer the teeniest of smiles. heck i woulda settled for a smirk. At one point, we heard people say when we walked by, "What are they doing here, where are these people coming from?" We were not in shiny shirts or scary scanty clothes. We were two cute and friendly chicks who totally got snubbed. May give it another shot, but will have to bring our own set of friends in order to get some interaction going on at the place.

Carbon is one of those places you can go just to have a drink with some friends and other nights to check out the other gender. It has a great atmosphere and the staff is exceptional. Drinks are always potent and the music is eclectic but always interesting. There's an especially cute bartender working on her degree I wish I had a chance with but I choose to live in reality. Anyway, Carbon is a place you must checkout. Otherwise you do yourself an injustice.

carbon is definately one of the cooler lesser known spots in LA! the vibe is amazing! everyone who shows up is cool and real...which is so hard to find. plus friday night's dj's are the best! if you haven't checked out dj lolo, then you're missing out! it's always at good time at carbon!

Its just what this hood needed; a cool bar where people can chill over Phat beats. The owners are supercool and down to earth. The drinks are strong and it's open most nights. I'm gonna start hittin it more often before it gets too hot and turns into the Room SM.... and we dont want that!

Carbon - It's a new spot away from the Hollywood Scene. Not to big, but yet great bar service and music. It's only been open for a few months and already has a great vibe and crowd. The music on Saturday's kicks. With great music, great drinks and good conversation what more can u ask for? It beats hanging in Hollywood trying to get in the door and waiting forever for a drink! Carbon is the new spot to hang. It has it's own style and ecletic crowds. The DJ on Saturday's plays a calvacade of music not your typical club DJ that sticks to one too many commercial beats. He's got a selection of music for everyone's ear. Don't miss the bus and get to Carbon before they start making u wait @ the door!

The same loungy feel of the Room in SM before it got all ghetto...I went there for a killer new years party. The owners and staff are totally cool, drinks are strong and reasonable. If you live in-between the beach and h'wood...make this your new watering hole.

At first glance the bar feels trendier than it is. But settle in with a cocktail and you will not find the arrogance or posturing that accompany LA's trendier spots. A nice relaxed atmosphere with friendly bar keeps.
