We were quoted a price of $30 on the web, as well as the phone. When we arrived the price was now $31. The girl in the front was not very friendly and we were standing right by the desserts and didn't tell us when our name was called.

This restaurant has the most romantic and fantastic views. The name is misleading, you think that you will be eating oriental food but there isn't any. The food off the menu is so so, nothing to jump up and down about. The service ok.

Went there for sunday brunch service was great never without a empty champagne but the food on the other hand terrible. I go to sunday brunch every sunday to different places. This is the worst food ever and at 33.00 not worth the price. They have crab there my favorite they had no way to steam them so they baked it in there oven made it very dry. They had no selection of food either. On the way home I got bad pains and it turned out I got food poisioning from the crab.. I will never go back again...

I have experienced fine dinning for many years now and I am spoiled when it comes to the little things that take my expeience to another level...Looking at the crowd on Sunday, I should have realized that everybody was there for a reason. And after looking at the sheer beauty of the views and the efficiency of the waiter's, to the positive vibes given off by all the patrons, I was simply flattened by the delicious variety at the Bufet. Flavors of all kinds exploded on my tastebuds long after I left the place. Whenever my woman gets upset or impatient with me, I suprise her with a visit to "Red's" The atmosphere takes you to a peace and tranquility that I just can"t describe. The food lets me know that you cannot find this kind of quality and flavor for this price anywhere in North America. DDAY

One of our favorite restaurants has been Shanghai Reds here in Marina del Rey, California. We??ve been going there for many years: beautiful scenic view, right on the water - gorgeous boats cruising by. Last year (2008) it became necessary for me to leave a message for the manager with the receptionist on two successive visits about 2 months apart, that there is an army of ants in the Men's room. Nothing was done about it after two more visits. I finally got action months later after calling the Board of Health; they confirmed my complaint. They ordered it to be corrected and then verified that it was. We??ve all heard the expression ??ants-in-the-pants:? Some men might have experienced it at Shanghai Red??s Ants! __We continued to patronize Shanghai Red??s, but the downsizing we hear about is seriously affecting this company. There is one other Red??s restaurant in Buffalo, N.Y and many others under different names in the Specialty Restaurant Corporation corporate mix including The 94th Aero Squadron in Van Nuys, Maryland and Miami; The Castaway in Burbank and San Bernardino; Rusty Pelicans ?? 23 in total.
Two weeks ago we took a friend with us and he was very impressed with the beauty as we sat down. We always ask for onions in our salad, but this time the waiter said ??No onions? and he repeated this when we told him we always have onions. He went back, spoke to the manager and returned saying that we will be charged extra if we want onions. Incredulous! My wife said we would not pay for them so back inside he went and returned with a tiny cup like the teacup you get in a Chinese restaurant. It contained about 15 tiny chopped onions that probably cost about seven cents ?? if that much. Now here??s the ??kicker:? The manager must have thought he was doing us a great favor because he sent back a message with the waiter saying that he will pay for it himself! __We know times are tough: restaurants are in deep trouble like other businesses, newspapers report that waiters are getting lower tips and sometimes no tips at all, lower price meals are ordered; it??s not a great time to lose patrons. __I don't know if the "Onion Caper" is CEO Howard Bell??s Corporate Policy or this non-manager manager's, but we're gone!

Sunday brunch at Shanghai Red's is amazing! It is all you can eat buffet style and I can't think of a food that isn't represented. Unlike many buffets the food is the quality you would expect to be served in a fine restaurant.

Shanghai Red's is one of the best places on the Westside for a reasonable, delicious happy hour. The restaurant is situated practically in the water, with boats passing regularly and a gorgeous view.

Their wine selection is top notch, and glasses are generously poured. The evening wait staff at the bar is extremely friendly and welcoming, and don't miss the free buffet before 7:00pm.

A must- try!

First let me start by saying for $29.99 the Sunday Brunch is well worth the price. The omelet and waffle stations were my favorite. Their waffles melted in my mouth. I asked the cook at the omelet station to prepare my eggs soft and it was perfect. The crowd was a little more than I would have liked to bear for my first time, but, hey I understand the demand because the food was so good. Our server was attentive as well. I can't wait to go during the week so I can enjoy the atmosphere a little more without such a huge crowd.

PROS: Great food
CONS: Sunday crowd is massive

We had our wedding reception at Shanghai Reds. They were helpful and for a wedding it was quite affordable tho the time frames were strange. We had the large private room which only holds about 80 people -- ideal for keeping costs down. The view is amazing. The vallet parking is only free for so many hours so at a reception guests may have to pay a few bucks. The catering staff also changed several times in the months I worked with them and there was alot of "well she promised that but I'm not going to give it to you". The brunch is very good and its a nice place for a romantic dinner, but the prices are high and their sour apple martini's are awful. However, I think the view is worth it.

Shanhai Reds is located at the end of the pier in Marina del Rey. They serve American food despite the name of Shanghai Reds. Our company holds our meetings there every quarter.
