Zenbu is the now the 2nd best sushi place in San Diego. Super fresh (I think they own their own boats) and delicious. I had them at #1 for a while but now I think Sushi on the Rocks is superior. Better than Japengo, Sushi on the Rock or anything downtown for sure. Be sure to try their Wasabi Filet which isn't really sushi but exceptionally good. Bring your wallet but it is really worth it!
