Best Burger Joint In The World

by Vinh L.

Everything at Lucky Boys is delicious. The fastest way to clog your arteries, but oh so worth it. My favorite is the Pastrami sandwich and an order of chili cheese fries w/chopped onions. And of course hearing the grumpy old guy yelling out your order. He reminds me of the soup nazi from Seinfeld. I lived in the San Gabriel Valley all my life, and just last year moved to Texas and I have been craving Lucky Boys ever since.

It's HUGE!

by Maritza D. | insider Insider | Rank: 27,215

This place has the best breakfast burritos in town. This is a good way to start the day. Make sure to eat it early because you'll still be full come lunch time.

PROS:
CONS: Not very Healthy

A P-town staple

by Tom O. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 9,120

This place is a must. Breakfast burritos the size of footballs, pastrami stacked to the ceiling and pools chili smothering the giant trays of fries. Open till 2am and reopening at 6, with breakfast burritos being pushed non stop. The later you go, the better. The friends ive made at lucky boy at 1:55AM, I will always cherish.

PROS: Where to begin, umm burritos, burgers, corn dogs, pastrami, chili!!
CONS: The shrimp plate is a gamble somtimes, but only somtimes

The only Chili Cheese Fries that I will ever eat.

by E G.

I've always been disgusted by chili cheese fries but when I smelled these for the first time I had to try them--and I was hooked. It's been about 13 years since my (now) wife intoduced me to Lucky Boy and we still go there semi-regularly. Neither of us has ever tried anything else on the menu. We always laugh at people who order things like the pastrami-burger because there is no way that it could be as good as the chili cheese fries. The large size is served in a styrofoam trough of about 10x10x3 inches and as someone mentioned below, this is greasy, artery jamming, life shortening food. But damn it is good and you'll probably get hit by a bus anyway so don't worry about silly things like cholesterol. Sometimes there will be a fair amount of gang-bangers there but they just there to get they eat on, so don't even worry about them. There used to be a really cool guy who worked the register there but he died some years ago. RIP buddy. Lucky Boy is open till 2 AM and they are only a stumble away from Old Town Pasadena. Note: It seems that they have become a little less liberal with the cheese so I now order extra cheese on my fries. Also, I can't put my finger on it but something has changed in the past year or so which has (only slightly) hindered the flavor of their chili cheese fries.

PROS: Yumm, chili cheese fries!
CONS: What do you want to live forever?

Greatest Breakfast Burritos

by Nicole F. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,191

I have only one thing I get at Lucky Boy, and yet it keeps me going there every Saturday morning.....the Breakfast Burrito. And I'm not alone! Each time I go I'm in line with the other Breakfast Burrito believers....sometimes dozens! For less than $5 I get the largest best tasting breakfast meal in town. Their menu is quite extensive, despite my one-item rave and the prices are really reasonable. The dining experience isn't glamorous, so I usually take my food to go. Also try their fried zuchinni!

Best Breakfast Burrito

by ben c. | insider Insider | Rank: 23,253

It is the fattest breakfast burrito I have seen. It is packed with potato, eggs, bacon, and cheese and every bite is delicious. It is a must try! I would recommend getting ranch dip on the side for it.

Sooooo good yet sooooo bad...

by Gus H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,882

Lucky Boy's is one of those places you go for a late night grease binge after drinking at a bar. They have just about everything a good ol' american junk food station could have. Hot dogs, tacos, fish burgers, salads, sandwiches, you name it. I would try their breakfast burrito at anytime of the day just be prepared to suffer the consequences.

PROS: Great selection, very tasty
CONS: Greasefest

I first started going to Lucky Boy as an undergraduate at Caltech, and never stopped. They have the best chili cheese fries I have ever tasted, far superior to Tommy's. Their burgers and shakes are pretty good as well. They are within walking distance of the Fillmore Gold Line station so you can reach them via public transit. If you eat here often, of course, ask your physician to double your Lipitor dosage.

Bag of Shredded Beef

by M A. | top100 Top100 | Rank: 64

Back when I was a student, I would get the shredded beef burrito here, otherwise known as a "Bag of Beef". It is nourishing but quite bad for you! A good greasy spoon/hole-in-the-wall type place.

PROS: Bag of shredded beef is like nothing you've seen before
CONS: You will reduce your life span
