Last year my dog sparky was attacked by a stray pitbull. My mom took Sparky with half of his leg hanging and bleeding severely and Dr. Meza did the best for Sparky. Of course he was sympathetic and told us that it will cost to save Sparky because he needed surgery. We went through treatment and during recuperation we had to go immediately to another vet and he said Sparky needed amputation and that was his only treatment. He was trying to charge me $2,500 to do so and of course I didn't follow his treatment. Went back to Dr. Meza and within a week in boarding Sparky he was better. Compare with other vets Dr. Meza's pricing is reasonable having pets is a responsibility and if you care for your pet don't refuse treatment. Unfortunately this kind of accidents occur and I know people that have paid a lot more than us with other vets and at the end they lose their pet. My family and I love Sparky and the fact that he went back to being himself thanks to Dr.Meza. Oh and his staff was very friendly.

Business Response:

Thank you
.

Brought sunshine in and was told her k-9 were bad and the recommended removing them. We paid Collett 800+ dollars to do the service only to find out two years later that all they did was cut the K-9 off at the gums. The root later got infected and we had to spend 1000+ to save the dog. I would never go back

Dr. meza is the best vet ever...he may at first seem blunt and unemotional. but he truly cares abt the animals..He saved my little chihuahua's (smoochie) life after she seemed that she was going to die..
He really does everything possible to save your pet.

Yes their prices are cheap. But you get what you paid for.\r
Dr. Meza is a bad dr. with horrible bed side manners.\r
His knowledge of medicine is rudimentary and if i would have not listened to my gut and took my dog else where my dog

My 6 mo old chihuahua (Luke) was attacked by coyotes in my backyard during a peach-black night. He was severely injured in the neck, lungs, stomach, legs, and even got a broken tail. Dr. Meza was quick to diagnose the injuries and to treat Luke. Dr. Meza was very kind and thorough when explaining the care needed. While he showed me the x-rays, his team prepared my dog for surgery.Luke required an emergent reconstructive surgery involving his trachea, diaphragma, and several stitches around his body. The surgery lasted about 5 hours and my dog spent a week in the clinic to recover. During discharge my Dr. Meza communicated well the instructions for caring for my Luke and follow-up. The cost was very reasonable and Luke recovered very well. He is now know by the neighbors as the "Little-Super Dog" and if weren't for a barely noticeable scar no one would ever guess the Luke had fought four coyotes. I don't have enough words to thank Dr. Meza and his team.

He wants to help your animals in any way he can. He can be rough but he tells you like it is. I like a vet that is honest and you can trust. I took my dog two days ago to another vet and he said my dog had the flu. He did not get better and I took him to see Dr. Meza who ran several tests and it came back Parvo.(yes my dog was vaccinated for it)Thank God for Dr. Meza he is doing everything he can to save my dog.

Dr Meza is great, I took my Zooey, 11 month pup, though she had parvo, she had eaten a chop stick, Dr Meza and his staff took care of everything including saving us money, they are caring and put 100% into helping your pet as well as making the client feel comfortable, everything in regards to expenses is put up front, they make sure that you do not spend more money than necessary...an important factor in todays economy.

Thanks Dr Meza, and Staff for your great work.,

The prices are very cheap and the staff is very friendly. I came here several times and thought everything was great. Come here if you are going to get vaccines, but if you really have a problem don't! However, there are a few shady things going on with Dr. Mesa. Ever since Dr. Mesa became the owner, things have turned around. The other vets are great, but you know it's bad when the best doctor, the one who give you his cell # to check up on your dog, leaves, you know there is something wrong. Dr. Mesa orders the staff to give medication that has been expired. He knows about and tells the staff not to say anything. He is such an arrogant guy because he is hispanic and is the owner (I'm a hispanic and it doesn't impress me). I had a puppy who had a brain infection and after hundred of dollars, we had to put him down... but we didn't blame him. Two years later my husky ate something and blocked his stomach, he didn't do anything but blame us for shoving it down his throat and saying he's not going to make it. We had to talk to his other vet who was wonderful, Dr. Ron S. who ended up leaving and saved my pup's life. I also had a lab who I knew had kennel cough and was blaming us for it, even though we take all precautions and have them up to dates. He didn't even give us the proper dosage of medicine, she got sick again in less than a month. Don't come here if you want to see Dr. Mesa, he is not going to do everything to come up with an answer to what is wrong with your pet. My sister argued with him about the medicine and his staff was happy, his own staff hates him

Cons: expiered meds, shady doctor

The doc was great and I was in and out of that place in just a couple of hours. The prices were super cheap and now my dog feels great. Dr Mesa told me my dog had something stuck in his nose and showed me some giant, spikey, yellowish grass that I get stuck in my socks all the time.

My mom's chihuahua has a broken femur. Dr. Meza gave us good diagnosis and was always optimistic and told us that he would first need an xray to make sure where the break was and how to proceed. The surgery had no implications and his recovery has been excellent. The price of the surgery was reasonable.

A few years back, Collett Veterinary was the best place to go. Then for a while their service got really bad and their staff was horrible. Now it seems like they once again have their act together and their prices are one of the best in the Valley.

Our dog had been declared to have kidney failure amongst other problems, we were told by another doctor at the same clinic that our dog should be put to sleep since there was no hope.
We went to say our good-byes to our dying dog. We did not want to leave him although he did appear to be more dead than alive. We decided to ask for a different doctor and second opinion--Dr. Cisneros walked in, we talked and he answered all of our questions with such detail and his patience was admirable...we have our dog back and he is alive and as well as before he became ill.
Dr. Cisneros was very caring and showed so much compasion and understanding, we'll always be so very thankful.
We now see our dog and say to each other "just look at him and to think that if it weren't for Dr. Cisneros, this precious animal would have been dead!

Dr. Aldo Meza saved our pet Harley. Our German Shepard was in a confrontation with a Racoon and lost. That's right, Harley lost the fight. His wounds were so severe that we really thought our only option was to put Harley to sleep. This Dr. not only treated and cared for Harley but touched my families lives. He knows what he did for Harley and because of him, Harley is feeling better and will not die as a result of her severe wounds.
It's hard to find a caring vet these days. We know that many Vets are mostly in business for business. I didn't get that feeling at Collet, I believe with all my heart that they treat each animal as a family member should be treated. They care about animals and it really shows. I would recommend Collett Vet to anyone who loves there animals.

i had only a month with my golden retriever, ROCKY and i noticed that his character had changed in just 1 day. i didnt want to risk anything so i took him in to get checked. it was my first time at Collett and the staff was very friendly. they checked rocky for parvo and he was positive. the tech that was assisting me was very considerate and answered all my questions to the best of her knowledge. when i talked to dr meza one of the first things he told me was that he did not let "parvo dogs" die. it made me feel comfortable and safe. if you have trust in your doctors nothing else matters but your dogs health, and that's how i felt. i had a great experience at Collett and recommend it to everyone that has a pet.

Recently, our 9 year old dachshund mix was attacked by coyotes in the hills behind our home. Our dog Pepper suffered from several bites on the head and neck and had lost much blood. Thanks to Dr. Meza and his professional staff, our pet was quickly attended to and with rapid emergency response time, Pepper was quickly stabilized. He is now on his way to a slow but sure recovery. Thanks Dr.

My husband is 6'1 and was carrying my 15 pound dog when my dog Kobe jumped from my husbands arms. I heard his leg crack from across the room and Kobe starting hollering with so much pain. I had no money, no credit card, no check, and i called every vet out of the phone book. Collett Vet Clinic did not care about the money at that moment they could hear Kobe crying in the background and told me to just bring him in. I drove as fast as i could from Chatsworth and they took care of my baby Kobe. They kept him over night and put a cast on him and worked with me on paying the bill. If the world had more people like the staff at Collett the world would be a better place!!!! Thank you so much!

I can't believe the difference in the staff at Collett Veterinary Clinic !! Several years ago I went to Collett and not one person was friendly. The girls wouldn't even look up from their counter.
I found out Dr. Cisneros was there & I went back a year or so ago and have stayed . The office manager is so caring about the pets & their owners. Everyone is so friendly there .
I will continue to take my business to Collett !

Dr. Meza is a caring vet. He wants to help your animals and will do all it takes. Perhaps his manners ruff and he tells you like it is but.... he is going to bat for my dog who has parvo. Another vet said my dog had the flu two days before. Thank God for Dr. Meza who wanted to run the test even though my dog has been vaccinated for this.

All I knew was my cat was dying. I had no idea where to go. I happened upon Collett Vet. Clinic by accident (or maybe not). The parking lot was full and all I could think was "My cat is going to die if I have to wait". I went in and spoke to the very kind lady at the front desk. I explained that My 7 mo. old kitten had just given birth to 2 stll born babies the night before and that she seemed to be doing worse and worse herself. I feared she was dying. She asked if I wanted to make it an emergency and of course I said yes. Before I could even turn to sit a nice employee took my cat (River) into an exam room and before I knew it Dr Meza was at my side leading me. He looked at River and told me right away that she was very sick. Further x rays showed another kitten still in her uterus, also dead. He would have to do surgery but not until River was stronger or she may not make it through surgery. It was going to be a few days and River would have to stay. he assured me that he would take care of River and becau

I am truely grateful to Dr. Meza. I have been going to Collett for a while (yes even when Dr. Collett was there) and I have always been happy with my animals care! Yes they sometimes have a long wait, but if it isn't an emergency call and ask how busy the morning is!
I had to rush my cat in several months ago with a life threatning problem, terrified not only for my cat, but also that I wouldn't be able to save her! Dr. Meza knew that there would be surgery needed, which also means tests, meds etc., but suggested doing some tests first to see if she had a chance to survive even with surgery. She would, but it would still be costly. He calmed and examined, my usually fiesty and stranger aggresive, cat and offered numbers of groups that might help with costs, as well as setting up the least expensive treatment plan, without harm. Yes I was a mess, but he never let the focus leave my cat!
My beautiful black cat has now retaken her position of princess (minus a patch of fur) in our home as if nothing happened.

I took Molly, my baby to Collett Vet, for few Years, then she developed a really bad case of arthritis, so she was almost not walking, many Drs. treated her but I did get get good results, I did event consult with the specialist, but only after Molly was treated by Dr. Meza she got well, I did not like him much at the beginning, because of the test he had to run, x-rays, blood test, and he was very to the point and extra confident, kind of shocking for me, but after a month of treatment, my Molly was back to walking, now it has been a year on medications, but she is almost like she never was sick before, only when I do forget to take her for her recheck, and adjusting the medications it's when I do feel the difference, She is 15 now, I can said the she loves Dr. Meza because he save her.The wait is long, check out slow, but still worth it.

I have use several times, all with positive results. I was an AHT for 20 years and know good from bad.
They could re-vamp the no appt policy and that may help shorten wait times.

The care my pets have received was very good.

Isn't the whole point of a good doctor to have the PATIENTS best care be his PRIMARY concern! Love my animal first, then love me! My dog has extensive arthritis, which is costly, yet if you take the time to COMPARE, they are more than competitive. I saw Dr. Collett before he retired and he was wonderful, no doubt his gentle manner is what people miss, however what I truly want is my dogs health. The newer Dr. is slightly more abrupt, and perhaps too honest for some people, but he LOVES my pets!!! Bends down to talk to her, uses a soothing tone and gentle hand, and fights for her treatment. He makes sure I understand how important her meds and rechecks are, I would rather that than a vet who shrugs and says "bring her in for her pain shot when you can." I bring her to a vet for HER care, not my desire to be pampered. If I have to wait a little in order to best treat my animals, then that's what I do!

This is a good, fair-priced vet who's kind and considerate of each animal's needs. He can be a bit too far into holistic medicine for my taste, but really he has the animals' best interests at heart. If you can stand all the flax seed he'll recommend for both you and your dog, he's a great vet to go to.
