I've been going here for almost 2 years and I love the equipment, classes, and general environment that it offers. But... being a busy mom i need to use the kids club a couple times a week and I've had a few negative experiences. The care takers working in the Kids Club are wonderful and do their best. But they're often under staffed which is not fair to the kids or the workers. Last week there were 18 kids (5 infants) and one worker. Then, when my 18 month old escaped the area, I asked for the manager to put a higher lock on the door. She told me that was not possible, offered up no new solution, and simply told me that it was a corporate problem. So, I'm scared a child is going to need to get injured or worse, snatched before they make their Kids Club a priority. Let me clarify though, the issue is not with the care takers in the kids club, this is a management issue.

My recommendation, its a great place to exercise but try not to bring the kids.

I've been a member of this club since before they opened their new building, when it was just a couple machines in an old Pizza Hut across the parking lot. The new facility is nice. It has an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, all manner of machines, free weights. Classes include yoga, pilates, kickboxing, body sculpture, step, and are usually high-paced and worthwhile. They also have body balls and medicine balls and bands to vary your workout. This is all great as long as you know what you're doing. The staff at the front desk does not know how to work the machines-- a new member asked me how to use the recumbent bike because the staff could not show her. There are personal trainers around who will help if not otherwise occupied. These trainers also give you a free one time physical assessment. Using stricter guidelines for body fat than even the American Council on Exericise, they will tell you how you will benefit from personal training. At my session, I was assessed at 20% body fat, which is considered fit by every other standard including those of the ACE, yet the trainer told me this number as though he were telling me I had two months to live due to my incredibly poor fitness. I assume the reason for this is to inspire people to buy personal training, yet I felt this was misleading and somewhat insulting, so be warned. The good thing about using the free session is that the trainer will tell you how to use the machines.
I have never had to wait for a machine-- the ellipiticals being the busiest at 4 pm - 7 pm-- I just use a different machine. There is a limit of 20 min. if people are waiting. In general the people there are friendly and everyone does their own thing. The child care there is very good, the sitters know my kids by name and the kids love them.

PROS: selection, child care
CONS: staff knowledge
