Fun place to get together with your buddies. Great atmosphere. The food and beverages aren't too bad either. Interesting neighborhood but the parking could be a challenge.

The mimosas were flowing... I don't really remember what I had to eat but I remember leaving very content. Our server rocked!

I was somewhat surprised to read the report criticising the quality of food and service in this wonderful establishment. I live in London but am a frequent visitor to San Francisco and was first introduced to Perry's in 1990. I have never visited the city without making this bar my first point of call, to which my family will attest!. The bartenders (without exception) are friendly and totally professional and the waiters, under the close supervision of Ian, have never failed to impress with their courtesy. The food is of the highest standard and presented without any delay or fuss, and I hasten to add in eighteen years I have never had occasion to return any dish or even pass an adverse comment as to its quality; the size of the portions is also beyond reproach. The decor is distinctive helping to make the atmosphere warm and inviting. I have no hesitation in recommending Perry's to anyone visiting this beautiful city. In fact of all the bars I have visited in the bay area - and they are many in number - Perry's wins hands down.

Pros: Excellent service, food and drink

Cons: Can get crowded - but not surprising considering the popularity of the establishment

Perry's is a great selection for affordable client lunches. the menu has a good selection of a mixed variety of meals. Anything from salads and sandwiches to burgers and entrees. You really can't go wrong at this place.

If only the tourists were barred from entry, this place would be perfect. Great burgers, quick and friendly waitstaff. A dining pleasure.

My girlfriend and a couple friends and I were walking down Union looking for a fairly casual, decent priced place to eat the other night, and I have always heard good things about Perry's, so we decided to stop in for dinner. I had already eaten dinner, so I just ordered a diet Coke, while the others all ordered French Onion Soup and my girlfriend ordered a twice baked potato. Everything came out quick and looked good, until they started eating. The cheese on the soup had a very weird texture and an even weirder taste. It was unlike any cheese I had ever eaten. It was just crispy on the top, too chewy in the middle, and lacked any kind of swiss cheese flavor. The soup itself was a little salty, but ok. My girlfriend's twice baked potato was over-whipped and too cheesy, and it was cold in the middle, so we sent it back. In the meantime, the waiter asked if I wanted a refill on my coke, so I said "yes please". A new potato and coke arrived quickly. However, the SECOND potato was cold in the middle too! That's a cardinal sin in the restaurant business, sending the same thing out twice in a row with the same problem! And to top it off, the waiter had a little attitude. The first time we told him about the potato being cold, he just replied in a questioning voice: "Cold?" as if we were crazy or something. When we told him the second potato was cold, he said "For Real"? To me, the epitome of bad service is an unapologetic waiter. So we sent the second potato back, and thankfully he offered to take the price off of our check. But then we got the check, and we saw that he had charged me for the refill on the Coke without telling me it wasn't free. Not cool. So combine 3 mediocre bowls of soup, 2 cold twice baked potato, a $5 coke, and an unapologetic waiter, and that equals a restaurant that I won't be returning to.

Maybe this isn't typical of a Perry's experience, but it's not worth my money to find out again.

I've been to Perry's for lunch and for dinner. It's fine. If you're in the mood for a chicken sandwich or a burger or pancakes or something similiarly plain and ordinary, it's perfect. The blueberry pancakes were actually fantastic. There's nothing special about this place, but if you are in the neighborhood and don't have the energy to come up with a more interesting idea for a meal, it's good.

I keep giving this place chances but still cannot understand the popularity of it, other than it's one of the few restaurants in the Cow Hollow/Marina area to serve food later (after 11 PM). The food is never very good, and often terrible, the menu rarely changes, and the service is slow and snobby. The clientele is very obnoxious on most days. I've tried the breaded country chicken, which one time was pretty good and the next time was awful. The mac and cheese was penne pasta in a soupy, runny mess of grueyere and parmesan. It was the worst mac and cheese I had ever had. The burgers are merely "OK" nothing special. A salmon dish I had wasn't too bad. The only positive is that the actual restaurant is very nice.

Nothing stands out at this place really. It's not good, but it isn't bad either. Food is decent, drinks are decent, service is your guessed it...decent.

The thing I DO like about this place is the location. Right in the middle of Union Sqaure with lots of shopping. Oh wait, I do love their potoato skins too.

Anyway there are lots of other places to eat at on Union St. if you are into American food though, and aren't picky that is...stop by.

I don't understand why everyone is ragging on this place. I love the food and atmosphere. The staff is friendly and the food is always good. It's a little pricey, but what isn't on Union Street? Who cares if they seat pretty girls up front - they're a business in the Marina. But back to the food - the brunch is great. Eggs benedict are some of best in SF. Can't go wrong with a burger and chips. This place has been around forever for a reason -- it's good, honest food.

On a recent Sunday the hostess seated 2 young ladies who were literally wearing extremely short bathrobes & underwear at a table in the front section of the restaurant to the consternation of the customers & wait staff. After finishing their meal, they lingered at the table for 3 hours while other customers were kept waiting even though they had reservations. Perry's has sunk to a new low allowing this to go on!

I haven't eaten anything all day and my mom and I were on Union to pick something up and we saw Perrys across the street. The menu is blah and theres nothing to order. But we settled on splitting a club sandwich with a "side salad." I don't like mayo and mustard on my sandwiches and requested it without it. I've never had such a horrible tasteless CRAPPY sandwich in my life. I've always ordered sandwiches without mayo and mustard from everywhere else and it has been good and I've been satisfied. The sandwich was so dry and tasteless I had to swallow it down with my lemonade. The bacon on the sandwich was so hard I was checking to see if my teeth were still in tact. It was definitely not worth $11. The side salad was crap too it tasted awful. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO THERE.

This place is fun and comfortable. Best brunch in the city! And a great place for lunch or dinner, or to watch a game and grab a bite at the bar. The burgers are awesome, and the menu has tons of sandwich and salad options, along with more traditional entrees.

Perry's is a cute place, but the brunch is below average. I am not too picky when it comes to breakfast food (you would think that it is hard to do it wrong) but my $11 denver omlette qualifes as the worst I have had in a long time. Lenny's definition of a omlet seems to be a pile of uncooked and cold tomatoes, ham, onions, pepers and cheese covered by some scrambled eggs. For $11 (or any other price for that matter) no thanks!

This is one of those restaurants where you can't go wrong. Virtually everything on the menu is consistently very good. The homemade potato chips are a "must have". The eggs benedict are the best I've ever had (except for Brennan's in New Orleans maybe). The ham is nice and thick and the hollandaise is perfect. Be sure to ask for the chips instead of home fries. You can also request "half" of the eggs and salads (which are huge) and they knock off a couple of bucks. Never been disappointed in 20 years. They used to take reservations for the outside tables but haven't for years now. It would be nice if they did.

This bar was "THE" pick-up joint from the '60's and '70's, and became famous for its bartenders as well. But guess what, the food is pretty good, too! Crabcakes with Hollandaise on English Muffins is good; ditto for chopped salad or the brunch menu. This set the prototype for the 'fern bar' in the swinging single days.

PROS: Good food & atmosphere
CONS: Can get crowded

If you're looking for a great neighborhood bar where everyone can know your name, come to Perrys on Union Street. The food is great, but the bartenders and servers are the best. They make you feel at home and there are always regulars hanging out at the bar ready to make conversation!

PROS: The employees in town and great food
CONS: There are none.. everyone that works there is friendly!

Great spot if you can get one of the coveted outside seats. They serve a nice breakfast, nothing really unusual. It was good enough that I will likely go again.

A bunch of us went recently for drinks and dinner. We had great time - loved the burgers, chicken sandwich on a REALLY soft, yummy bun, ahi tuna appetizer, and a chopped salad. The food was normal California cuisine, but it was tasty and fulfilling. The staff was nice - our waitress in particular. We'll be back.

My roommate is addicted to lobster night at Perry's and raves about it. Though I haven't had the lobster, I have been to Perry's for brunch, lunch and dinner, and have never been disappointed. Outside seating is great, as well as the sunny back room. The bloody marys are to die for, and the brunch is great! Also try their gigantic salads, packed with meats cheeses and ingredients. Perry's has become a favorite of mine both in the Marina and downtown!
