People nowadays get super caught up in going to those big movie theatres. I don't know when it all of a sudden became bad for a movie theatre to me small, but I personally adore this place. It's nice and local and small enough that you don't feel like you're in a cave. They only show one movie at a time usually but it's also usually a good one (Except for right now, they're showing Clone Wars). I'd REALLY REALLY hate to ever see it go.

Only one screen but a nice one with good sound. Has a home-towny feel to it. My family likes the vintage look and feel and the triumph of avoiding a huge chain like the awful Regal Hacienda theaters with their filthy bathrooms and long lines. The bathrooms are vintage too and not wheel-chair or elderly friendly but they have benches you can change babies on. Perfect place for a kid's movie matinee. We adore the balcony seating and that the same guy always sells us our tickets. Hope it never closes.

Because it only has one movie, you can't go see what you want when you want to. But it's cheap, good theatre, good food, small, and they have $4.50 Tuesdays and Free Popcorn Thursdays. Love it!

when i went lived in castro valley, i went here quit alot with my friends. we were okay with the place, its small....not just the place, but the movie screen, but i still enjoy going there. they have free popcorn on somedays, i dont know which cause i dont eat popcorn...they are bad for you =] and then there is 2 dollar tuesdays where you get tickets for 2 dollars! there is only a big crowd around when a new really popular movie is coming out. they usually have the movies out a week or so before other theaters get them, its probably the only way theyd be able to get enough money to buy the next movie and make a profit running the place.

Very small old fashioned theater. No it is not your Century 25 or Regal but it's serves the community great. Right now they have a promotion where you get free popcorn on thursdays and sometimes they have a cheaper tuesday movie. Also gives a student discount. Sometimes it's better to see a movie on a smaller, one theater than get lost in today's technology.

The movie theater has only one screen, and its kinda small and old. Its a movie theater i guess only local residents of castro valley go to. However, there are special deals on movie tickets once in a while and since it only has one screen they only play hit movies, and you can watch it a bit sooner than the bigger theaters release them.

I wasn't very imprssed with this cinema, to say the least. Out of boredom, my friend and I drove over to check it out one day when we were in the area. We have this habit of wanting to try out every theater we come across in the bay area. Well, I have to say that we were both disappointed from beginning to end of this venture. The outside of the theater is tiny, run-down, and tacky looking. The only positive feature on the outside was the price list on the window that indicated matinee was only $6 and Terrific Tuesdays were $4.50 all day. The theater only has one screen and thus, only one movie to choose from. The inside wasn't anything to report about. really. (Picture a dilapidated play house).

PROS: cheap Tuesdays $4.50
CONS: old, dilapidated, tiny

Forget the megaplex 1000, step back in time as you enter this place and enjoy the movie in this single screen cinema. The sound has been upgraded and the price is right.

This restaurant, Chabot Cinema, hasn't been rated because (AS THE NAME IMPLIES) it is a cinema. A cinema is a place that shows movies. A restaurant is an establishment that serves food. As local cinemas go, this one is great. It's the old
