Whew. Anthony must be awefully tired following around his wife all day long in/out of antique shops, oblivious to reality. Take a break Frank.

Antique & Collectible Buffs: Here is a Quick Reality Check of San Carlos Street Antique Shops we frequent for best selection and values:

1. Annette's Antiques is owned by "Annette". Its a small shop, open daily, specializing in fine antique porcelains, glassware, etc. Very organized and terrific inventory. There have never been any other "clerks" to hunt for besides Annette, who is always in plain site, very helpful, friendly and always available to her customers. She has an excellent hidden security system and she keeps her overhead down this way. Gee Frank, did you actually go in the shop?

2. Briarwood Antiques & Collectibles is just to the right of Annettes. ANTHONY FAILS TO MENTION THIS GEM OF A STORE. Makes us wonder if Anthony C. isn't a dealer himself? Over 30 reputable dealers in a 3300 sq ft. store; this deceptively small store front opens to reveal a huge interior (setback is long) containing exceptional, quality antiques and collectibles. Everything from A-Z plus specialty period lighting and hard-to-locate original hardware. Store-wide surveilance camera's keep overhead low. Best selection and values here, especially quality furniture; don't miss!

3. Bruce's Antiques is just to the right of Briarwood. Another small shop with an ecclectic mix of antiques and collectibles sold by Bruce, a very friendly conversationalist. Good prices here too.

4. Evelyn's Antiques - CLOSED; NEARLY A YEAR. Owner closed her doors for good nearly a year ago now (Sep '07). Evidently, Eveylyn retired.

5. Rest of shops Anthony "reviews" are also incorrectly assessed. My recommendation: see for yourself. Then come back here and rate Anthony C's memory.

Annettes Antiques & Collectibles is another store my wife loves to visit on the weekends. They have a large selection of items and sometimes have a sale. I laugh when I see something on sale because I thought it was already cheap to begin with. The clerks here are ok but hard to find at times unless your up at the counter.
