Coach Sushi is an excellent choice for sushi veterans and newcomers alike, providing a warm and comfortable atmosphere where diners can relax and enjoy the fine Japanese cuisine either in the dining room or at the sushi bar. Sushi is fresh and delicious. Coach Sushi serves many different kinds of sushi. We also have Sushi A La Carte. We also have a vegetarian and tofu selection as well. Our Coach's Special is serve with miso soup, salad, and rice.
We took our daughter (and her husband) out for her birthday dinner. She loves Japanese food, and this (our first visit here) was a delight!
Among other items we had salad, soup, several varieties of sushi and two different sashimi dinners. Fish was fresh and tasty, soup hot and delicious, and the service was above reproach.
The staff sang to her as a surprise desert (baked(?) bananas and a baked green tea ice cream DELICIOUS!
We had a marvelous, happy and wonder-filled evening!
A great place for any occasion! We highly recommend Coach's!!!

The space and dcor are fairly standard for sushi bars. It's tough to justify ordering the bottomless sake even at only about $7. Their rolls were ok, but the sashimi and nigiri were the real standouts. Delicious, very fresh, flavorful, and attractive, they represent what I like to experience when out for sushi. I was particularly impressed that I got unagi in my chef's choice sushi/sashimi combo and that it came out HOT.

My husband and I was in the area and found this on the navigation system. He really liked it. As for me, I do not eat sushi, but I tried it and it was not bad for my first experience.

Went here for the first time this past week. Food was served quickly and was fresh and tasty. Can't wait to return!
Pros: service was great
Cons: parking is difficult to find

A visit here is like dinner with dear old friends. Coach and his wife must have time-traveled to Lake Merrit direct from ancient Japanse palaces. Regular clients get their own wooden sushi drinking box -- decorated and displayed on the walls. Watch out! Coach is fond of sneaking up and refilling sake when your eyes are turned. The fish is superb, and new menu items appear monthly. Last night Japanese sweet potato was among our tempura items. Fabulous! Since discovering Coach, we won't go anywhere else.
Pros: Service, menu variety, location (on Lake Merrit, right off highway exit)

It is very difficult to find real sushi restaurants. Many of the restaurants I have experienced are either hyped too much or they are just mediocre at best (with a limited menu). I went here with a friend who lives close by. The service was fantastic, the fish was VERY fresh, and, the menu was expansive (we were able to get kama (fish head) upon request, there is a great tofu selection, and a selection of nigiri and sashimi that I haven't seen in any other place around here).
The proprietor is friendly, greets everyone warmly, and is very customer-oriented...sake was refilled, we were never rushed and he was very personable with us. On one hand, I want to keep this discovery to myself; but on the other, the great food and friendly service (which is not so common these days) we received is something people should know about.
Great place!
