Have to say I am impressed with the originality of flavor here. I recommend to my out-of-town folks all the time.

Im hesitant to even write about the Hotel Fig- I guard it like a precious secret! It is truly the best hotel in Los Angeles! If you want to rekindle some romance with your partner- this is the place! The Casablanca suite (prices are SO affordable!) has a bathtub large enough for two people to swim in! The owner Uno- is a wonderful man, whom I have great respect for! He loves this building and cares for it! Each room is different and has it's own individual style- very moroccan themed! Uno is very discerning about who he lets stay at the Hotel Fig! What owner does this anymore? He wants to make sure every guest has a magical experience! The pool/bar is so romantic at night with it's amber lights, candles... this place is like another world and you dont want to leave... Shhhh... dont tell many people! It is a gem!

Pros: Romantic, Quiet, Feast for the Senses, Owner is wonderful!

Cons: You have to check out...

We have stayed at Hotel Figueroa several times while in LA visiting our son. It is within 2 blocks of the Staples Center and near Fashion Institue of Design & Merchandising. It is right in the heart of downtown L.A. It is very old and unique. If you are looking for super, squeaky clean this is not the place for you..but if you are looking for charm, clean, huge character and great service check this hotel out. The rooms are uniquely decorated and the lobby has some interesting things to investigate. This not your ordinary hotel and it is definitely not a chain hotel. We love it!

I can spill my secret now that I no longer do business in LA, but will sincerely miss this hotel. We stayed here for years, it evolved from Santa Fe style to Moroccan since Staples Center went in and the downtown was cleaned up. The hotel manager gets bored and is constantly fixing it. Very well priced, and great location. Truly charming bartenders, and they always take good care of you! Hi Uno, Peter and Sidee (sp?)

Went here with some girlfriends last night. Had a really nice and relaxed time. The drinks are pricey, but right on par for LA. Really cool atmosphere and good looking people. It was trendy, but not too trendy. No issues getting in or to the bar. I will be coming back!!!

Pros: atmosphere

Cons: closes at 12 on the weekdays

I know "oasis" is used way too much in these reviews, but this sweet spot really does epitomize the word. Tasteful landscaping and round, heat-lamped tables sit around the bar while the bar hangs in the lanai just steps away. Perfect for a romantic cocktail before a play or a downtown dinner, or a more bustling affair of youngsters (USC is nearby) on the weekends.

The bar yet limited isn't too pricey and the drinks, nice pour count. you get plastic barware, but then again it is poolside. great date place... not so much a first date but definitely the ones to follow. the staff is bare bones you order they serve and leave you alone until you want them again. perfect. the bar area and pool is beautiful at night, quiet and romantic. great for two or a party of 30. unpretentious but downright classy... old LA in its grandeur... a step into the past. GO There!

As a USC student, it was unbelievable that this place existed within 2 miles of my apartment. You can spend hours chatting outsite; the decor is amazing; not at all too LA, but very classy. A Must.

The decor is amazing and the staff is sweet. Hang out by the pool as the guests take a dip and chat with your friends on a nice LA evening.

I've been there several times. Everytime I go it's not crowded. There are mixed groups and it's a good place if you are trying to unwind from a hard day at work. The waiter's are cute and friendly and the drinks are good enough. Best of all, it's smaller, it's never too crowded and every once an a while a TV celebrity will show up. Good atmosphere.

A great downtown secret, this hotel is truly unique. It's a great experience for a night out on the town or a special event. There's an amazing energy about this place.

I've been here a few times and I have to say that the drinks are strong and cheap (for Los Angeles). It is a really good place to just hang out: No cover, No Dress Code, Free Parking.

There are two negatives I can think of: 1)Kind of a small place 2)sometimes the hotel kicks people out at 11pm 3)i have only seen one bartender working so it can be a wait for a drink

Great atmosphere. A mix of locals, tourists, and business persons who just know how to relax and kick back. Whoever decorated this place took great pains to make sure the details were subtle and authentic. The oversized leather chairs are amusing. It's very LA in that it there is a pool in the back. However, the Eastern big pillows areas help balance out all the cheesiness. I help organize bar outings for my fellow Loyola Law School students. They love the place as well. The place is pulsating with secrets and stories.
