There's never a dull moment at RA Sushi Bar Restaurant. The music is pumping, the mood is upbeat and the atmosphere is as stimulating as a big bite of wasabi. RA is the perfect place to cut loose with friends, toss back a few, and enjoy the best sushi the ocean has to offer. They also have a full menu of Pacific-Rim dishes to satisfy any taste. Come hook up with friends, or soon-to-be friends, and enjoy all of life's good things at RA. See for yourself why everything's more fun in the RA!
RA is definitely good sushi, and it will fill you up. The service is usually very good, and it's in a killer spot. The only downside is the price, sometimes a little too expensive. I recommend getting the boat, it's the best deal!

Their happy hour on Sunday has amazing deals! Sometimes the service isn't all that great, as I've been there a few times and had a very snoody waitress. The food is good and very fairly priced, and they have great sake and beer combos!

This place has the best sushi in downtown .. best girls (aka waitresses & hostesses) .. if you want to try a really good roll get the Gojira roll, best thing on the menu!

Ra Sushi Bar is a nice place only for trendy music and meeting up with friends but their food is very average and better sushi can be found elsewhere. Their service is also average with not much to say about.

I think it was pretty good.
One entree is more than enough to fill you up. The strip mall is kind of a turn off, but I guess it's pretty hard to find the perfect spot when you first open up.
Price was an 8, food was a 9 and the scenery was a 7
Get the boat dude!

This place has very good food and a nice establishment. They make everything worth while so I fully encourage you to go there if you hit up Downtown San Diego!

This place has great food, an awesome atmosphere and is very trendy. It's definitely a place where you could hang out with friends and enjoy a good meal for a good part of the evening!
PROS: Food

Stay clear of this sushi place. Sushi place on washington is a more private place for date
The servers are all pretty cool, funky tattoos and hair, very hip place down town. Park at Horton Plaza and validate parking there and walk to RA. Interesting rolls... not sure if you really get your moneys worth.
This place was so overrated! Everyone in San Diego was saying this is the best place. Not even! I'm from LA and i have had my fair share of awesome sushi but it placed sucked. Our server was the dumbest girl i have ever met. She put our drinks in and forgot to ring in 2 of ours. We were a party of 4. Come on...she then forgot to put in our soup and salads. Every time we needed a refill or something we seriously had to ask 3 times until we got it. The sushi was so gross, the fish and crab was imitation. We also order 4 shots and she forgot those then when she put them in they took forever! The bartender ending up bringing them over and was like "Uh have you been waiting on these?" The drinks were weak, small, warm and not worth the money. Avoid this place.
Pros: Nothing!!
Cons: Everything! Bad food, service and drinks
I first went to RA in Tempe, AZ on Mill Ave and had the best time ever. I was visiting my friend Colleen (she's from NY and I trust her taste implicitly) and she swore by their happy hour. The place was packed (with mostly attractive people, always a plus to have some eye candy), but the service was still excellent (and of course we got sauced). I had a similar experience in SD, as with AZ the happy hour had a few more options than most sushi spots (i mean how many california rolls can one girl eat?) and the service was fantastic. I have found a few more places with better sushi, but for happy hour I totally recommend checking out RA (pinapple wontons are a must, yum!).
Pros: great happy hour, friendly staff
Cons: the music can be a bit loud (if you're adverse to that sort of thing)
My sisters, wife and I went to check out Ra Sushi last Sunday during their "reverse happy hour." Since it was the holidays, we figured we wouldn't have to fight a line, and would finally get a chance to check this place out. Sure enough, there wasn't much of a line, and we were seated immediately. The aesthetics of the place were nice, but that's pretty much the highlight of this trip. The food was mediocre at best. We ordered the spicy tuna (bland), the lobster and crab roll (couldn't taste the lobster, almost a glorified california roll), the ultimate shrimp tempura roll (which tasted remarkably like a california roll), and the tempura coconut shrimp (actually decent). While we did get happy hour prices, I still feel that it wasn't worth the effort of maneuvering around downtown. Our service was off as well. Our server seemed to forget about us as she tended to a large party behind us, and the food came all at once, on several small plates (instead of one large one as it is with most places). Our entire table was taken up, which was only have as annoying as our server ignorning us. For a true sushi buff, stay away from this place. This place is a true "chain restaurant", and is more of a place to be seen, than it is to eat.
Cons: slow service, average at best food
This place was great. The music was fun but really random and the food was very good. The edamame and tempura shrimp were an excellent start and the California rolls were good for dinner. We finished the meal off with fried banana and kahlua and it was great! We all enjoyed dinner. The music in the bar area was a bit too loud.
Pros: Fun environment, good sushi, nice wine list
Cons: Bar area music too loud, no descriptions of sushi
RA Sushi was a nice find on my recent trip to San Diego. I loved their innovative sushi rolls, like the gojira roll (shrimp tempura, spicy mayo, red beet, and spinach tempura flakes) and the tootsy maki which included a rich eel sauce, really made this for a more interesting meal. The servers are incredibly hot, and overall, the place was a great experience. The happy hour specials only made it better.
Pros: Innovative sushi, stylish decor
We had a group of 15 people for dinner on a Friday night. The service was rude and sloppy. The dinner table was dirty. We had 2 plates not show up at the table only to be told that they were combined with 2 other plates. So other people ate them thinking that was there plate. (6 roles in to 12 on one plate) Spending $600.00 on a dinner birthday is Ok. Having the staff be rude, slow and not crediting the bill for misplacing the 2 plates(Only 14.00 on the bill) is unacceptable. To be fair the restaurant has a very nice feel to the decorations. But this is the last time I will visit RA.
Pros: Ambience
Cons: Staff
We went to this restaurant for New Years and the service was bad & very rude staff. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
Pros: none
Cons: too many
definitly try this place.
I loved it. So unique, great food. The best green tea ever
the best raw tuna. Perfect service. I would most definitly go back
over and over.
Pros: perfect food
Cons: parking a little hard
I love their Las Vegas roll, warning it might take you more than one bite since it is huge. The atmosphere is great. Been there for happy hour and they have great deals.
"First I'll admit a bias- I don't like many buffets- the focus ..."
"food over priced, your basically paying for atmosphere which feels sterile at ..."
