Ratings_icons Team Dykstra's Car Wash is Horrible

Monique L.

I was never a big fan of Team Dykstra's car wash, but over the years it has become so terrible that I will never go back there again. They do not do everything they will say they will when you get an oil change. The last time I was there I felt scammed. They do not do a good job on car washes either. They do an unsatisfactory job which takes too long and costs too much.

Bait and Switch Tactics. Have a coupon for free oil change, they told me it was a typo and i have to pay 25$ in order to get my oil change, with the inspection etc. I will never do business here.

Ratings_icons The Truth Beware

As a former employee for many years I've seen many changes throughout the years. It all started with Lenny Dykstra selling the business. They now use cheap no name oil not Castrol oil even though they promote that they use the Castrol oil. They run out of oil and oil filters once a week. So that means not all the oil filters are getting change with every service. It also means if your paying for the synthetic oil chances are its not going into your vehicle. They recommend services that do not need to be done on your vehicle. It is not the oil technicians fault because they are not given the correct supplies to preform the services. Its the owners and managers fault. They are penny pincher's that try to take the short cuts on your vehicle to make the extra dollar. Not to mention they do not pay overtime. Larry the master mechanic works 130 hours in a two week period and is paid 130 hours of regular time no overtime. He is worth more then that and should be treated better not to mention how they hire illegals and pay them only with tips to dry your cars. So if you wanna get ripped off and promote this slave driving company then yes i recommend you to go there..

Had a coupon for $9.95 so I thought I would try this place. It took forever for my car to come out of the tunnel and then it sat out for about ten minutes before they started to work on it, I have better things to do with my time. And then they did a lousy job. My windows were all smeared, my cup holders were still dirty and I could go on. I guess you get what you pay for. I am staying with Simi Valley car wash, they are much better

Lenny Dykstra's overall is not the best. It does not matter if you simply go for a car wash, a detail, or auto repair. The end result is always disastrous and they know it. You pay way too much for what you get.

Ratings_icons Horrible Detail Service... Run Away!

S. H.

I sent a visiting friend to this place to get his car fully detailed. When he picked it up, the interior was dripping with "conditioner" or whatever the heck they use. The compartment in the trunk (when you lift the jack storage lid had about 3 inches of standing water. The tire conditioner they slopped onto the tires was also over applied and dripping. The service was over $200 bucks, and my friend spent about 2 hours wiping the excess product that they applied. Gotta wonder if they just rented a lift and dipped the entire car in a vat of liquid. What a joke.

I moved to Simi Valley in July and i needed a oil change on my car and my girlfriends car, well i had driven by Lenny's and thought by their set up that i would get an A-1 service! Just so you can understand where i come from i have been a service advisor/mechanic for many years, when i went there i asked for a brake check on both vehicles and an oil change... well i got an oil change and a terrible service on the brake check, again keep in mind i am very familiar with customer service and i do go the extra mile for any one of my customers, well when i asked the % left on our cars they wouldn't tell me or write it on my receipt... i asked WHY???? A reasonable request!!! THE ANSWER I GOT WAS;( WE DON'T DO THAT BECAUSE IT IS A WASTE OF OUR TIME AND INK) wHAT THEY NEED TO DO IS GET RID OF EVERYONE AND START WITH A NEW STAFF THAT ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT US AS A GENERAL PUBLIC.. I'M SORRY FOR ANYONE WHO HAS TO ENDURE THEIR SERVICE.. I HAVE ALWAYS PUT MYSELF IN MY CUSTOMERS SHOES AND MAYBE THAT IS WHY I HAVE BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL IN MY CAREER.... .Danielle L. Suarez.

Ratings_icons Unprofessional Management

Consider this warning before asking to see a Lenny Dykstra manager.
Members of Lenny Dykstra club receive a free car wash on their birthday. I went in on 9/27/08, just 3 days after my birthday and was told that I already cashed in my free car wash on 9/25 (the day after my birthday). Neither I nor my husband washed our cars at Lenny Dykstra during the month of September. A manager named Cemone (spelling?) was called to the counter. He checked the computer and said that a cashier initialed the use of my free car wash on 9/25, which confirmed that I used it and based on that, there is nothing he could do. He refused to give me my free wash because it would come out of his paycheck. We asked him to check the receipts to verify who actually used my free car wash because it was not me. He became extremely angry and only approved the free car wash because it was my X number visit (which was also free) and walked off. When he overheard me ask the girl at the counter it that was truly a manager, he stormed back at me like he was going to hit me. He yelled at the counter girl saying is she asking for my information? Then give her my information!! Give her everything! I will never forget how angry he was at me - almost hostile. He told me to never come back and as he was walking off, he yelled See Ya flipping his hand up in the air without looking back.

Simi Valley has plenty of car washes that appreciate our business. I don't need to pay for abusive, unprofessional service. My husband and I know lots of people in Simi Valley and you can be sure that we're telling them all about Lenny Dykstra.

I don't know why I returned to get my car washed but I did and I had a valuable glass mug in the back seat that was protected by bubble wrap and then in a closed box. There is no way it could have broken unless someone worked on it. Well, I stupid idly went in, got my car washed and not only was the job terrible with little white fuzzys from the towels all over the windshield but my mug that was supposed to be a gift, was broken into pieces!! I am telling you, there is NO WAY it should have been broken unless someone worked on it! I complained to the manager and he said I should have taken it out of the car then if I wanted to protect it so badly. He offered me a free wash but I said NO...I am never coming back again.

I went down there to see about getting my Porsche detailed and I brought my girlfriend with me. One of the employees made a joke about my car being stolen, and another employee asked my girlfriend if she wanted a job washing cars, in a lascivious manner. So I did not get my porsche detailed, but they did wash it, and they did a half-ass job. Do not trust these people. They are nasty, disrespectful, and behave like pigs.

Ratings_icons They are bastards

My GPS device was stolen from my car, and they swore up and down that there was not a GPS device in my car even though I just used the thing to get to the car wash! Furthermore, one of the employees was making fat jokes about another customer, and when I got my car back minus a GPS, they didn't even vacuum the back seat. They are a bunch of over-priced bastards who employ thieves and call their customer's liars. May they rot in hell. By the way, Dykstra was a juicer and does not deserve to be honored.

After having several minor issues with Lenny Dykstra's after it was sold (not vacuuming any of the rear seat areas and no air fresheners used) On 7/18/08 my ipod was stolen out of my car at Lenny Dykstra's Car Wash. I was told different stories about the security cameras that they supposedly use than what they told the police. I was basically given the runaround. I was told that they would not show the Police the tapes because it could be used as evidence (by the manager) and then he offered me a detail to make up for the ipod? I refused the detail and will obviously never go there again. The old management would have never let something like this go by, not even the vacuum issues. Needless to say I will be washing my own car or going to First Street Car Wash when I need to. Everyone I know will know how they treat their customers! Dishonest and just bad business.

Ratings_icons Horrible Service

H T.

I took my Truck in for electric diagnostic for the power locks and odometer. The service was absolutely horrible. I took a day off to get this done, and after a 5 hour wait I left there totally frustrated and will never return there again. The part needed for my vehicle was returned to the dealer 3 times as the Tech who was working on my truck thought it was the wrong part. So what turned out to be a 5 hr job should have only been an hour and a half at the most. After all that waiting they never look at the odometer. They wanted me to return another day and pay an additional diagnostic fee to have that looked at. I wrote a letter of compliant to the owner, and as of this day I have not heard from them. This business totally failed in the service and I will never recommend them to anyone. Beware of this overprice business.

I've be going here off and on for the last couple years. When I can, I will usually go to a carwash near work (Camarillo) as they do a better job and I don't have to babysit.
The good: these guys have a really nice setup. You can tell, they have put a lot of money into it. Customer service usually is fair and polite and they get you in and out in a timely manor.
The bad: I don't think I've ever had an experience there where I don't have to walk around find where they missed dirt, bugs, tar etc. I am not a picky person by any means. In fact I'll usually just head home and finish the job there without saying anything. A couple of weeks ago I bought a brand new truck and brought it there to get washed only to find bug stains on the grill once I got home. That was it. I've since found Simi Valley Car Wash on Tapo street and they've done a great job both times I've gone.

Why did I wait so long?

I have not used their service dept. as I take care of my own service.

I have been using this car-wash / oil change venue since it opened in Simi Valley. I have watched the prices increase
and predatory sales pressures increase. I have seen dirty cabin air filters needing replacement, only to find the vehicle doesn't have cabin filtration. I watched the service writers brow-beat an elderly woman who declined the injector cleaner-air cleaner and transmission service. They literally were on both sides of her..predators.
Today someone took $40 from the ashtray of my daughters car, I called and Byron Escobar began to swear at me over the phone. Out of control, thieves, and predators.

When it was time to have my truck smogged, I went to Lenny Dykstra's. It was an early saturday morning and they were the only place open. They literally treated me like a king when I walked in. THey took care of the smog check and washed my truck once it was done. Great service!

PROS: Great treatment
CONS: None

Ratings_icons Overpriced with poor customer service

Amy F. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,598

The fact that this place is primarily a car wash should be the first sign that you dont want to take your car there to be serviced. While they charge a fair rate for an oil change, anything more complex than that might leave you feeling taken. For example, theyll charge you $70 to figure out why your engine light came on (a standard practice amongst mechanics), but they wont waive that charge if you have them do work on your car. Other mechanics dont charge you extra for telling you whats wrong with your car if you hire them to fix it. When we complained, we were given a free car wash. Other mechanics take their customers concerns more seriously. Go there instead.

I have been getting my car washed here for the past 2 years. They do a very thorough job and I always leave satisfied. Every once in a while I will have them do my oil change also and they do a pretty good job for a reasonable price.

Ratings_icons Lenny Dykstra's Car Wash & Auto Repair

Bobbie E.

While I've never used their car repair portion at their place of business, I can attest to their fabulous car washes. They go the extra mile to make sure your car is as clean and as shiney as the day you bought it, or at least, as good as it can look depending upon the condition of your car. They have a great snack bar inside too, and plenty of sitting room outside under a covered patio. Very nice atmosphere.
