Pluto's Fresh Food

A side salad is enough to be a meal. But it's not that much more to get the large so I always like to get a large farmer's greens with grilled flank steak. You get to choose about 6 toppings and a dressing. I always get corn, bleu cheese, croutons, apples,oranges, cucumbers with balsalmic dressing to go. YUM!!! I think I'm going to get one tomorrow for lunch!

I love this place because they make the salad according to what you want to eat on that day, at that minute. I like adding strips of beef to my salad too for the added protein. Their garlic fries are really good too. Just don't forget your mints!

When I first moved to the Bay Area, I like Pluto so much that I seriously considered renting a hell-hole of a house because it was only a block away from Pluto's. Many years later, even though I don't live that close by, I still love to go there for the great salad and curly fries.

Plutos is a great place to go for lunch or dinner. Located in Downtown Palo Alto it makes it a very good date place that you can just pop in to while walking around Downtown. They make really good salads and tri-tip sandwiches. Give it a try!!!

I love Plutos for their salads. They are huge and you get everything you could ever want on it. I love the grilled steak salad. It's always crowded so if it's really busy be prepared to get it to go.

This place is crowded for a reason: the best salads in the world. Get a side farmer's green (with chicken or not) with honey mustard dressing. Opt for walnuts, beets, parmesan cheese, croutons, fennel and whatever fresh fruit is in season. It's fresh and it's good.

This is my all-time favorite place to get a salad. The ingredients are always fresh, and the chicken or steak is grilled right there for you. You can have up to 7 things added to your salad, including fresh veggies, fruit, nuts, seeds, mushrooms, and more! And there are various options for the dressing, including new concoctions -- last time I had lime-cilantro, which was very yummy! Salads are usually 6 bucks, and very filling. Sandwiches are also available.

In an era when every fast-food joint claims to offer premium salads, Plutos is the Real Deal: Delicious fresh salads in generous portions made-to-order with your choice of grilled chicken or steak and up to seven veggie add-ons, including everything from broccoli to baked potatoes (personal favorite: candied walnuts.) Finally, top it off with one of four dressings, and for around $6.00 you have one of University Aves best values and its healthy too! Plutos also offers sandwiches and a number of other homestyle dishes (think Thanksgiving), but people come for the salads. If youre willing to put up with the inordinate >10 minute wait, definitely try the hot wings. One possible negative is that the cafeteria style dining has you waiting in a potentially long line the moment you arrive.

PROS: Great salads with a wide variety of veggies. Great prices.
CONS: Side dishes are hit-or-miss. Lines. May be difficult to get a table.

Great place to grab a quick, healthy bite to eat. I recommend the build-your-own salad with steak. The portions are large, so if you aren't that hungry, the small size should be plenty. I also like the mashed potatoes and honey mustard chicken wings (you need to wait a little longer for these because they fry them after you order them).

CONS: Hard to find a table during dinner time
