They have some very good Thai food here. I know its probably not like authentic food from Thailand but for Americanized Thai food it was pretty good.

Have you ever noticed that we only write letters/reviews when we have something bad to say? I'm to blame for this as well, so consider my hand slapped. I like tuk-tuk on Pico. I've never had their delivery, only lunch. I love the decor,

The waitress tried to charge us 2 taxes on our bill. We thought one was a tip and so we tip her another $5.00. She ran out of the restuarant and asked us what was wrong with the service. Unbelievably RUDE. Food was that good.. Will

Our service was great and the waiter was adorable. Ambiance was romantic and definitely recommended. For the music,,,I would recommend jazz or house and the people were cool. Portions were good.

Worst service ever\r
I used to go years ago and I just returned from this place. Sunday night, hardly anyone in the place. 8pm and the waitress never came over until we complained twenty minutes later. No attention. Dirty cups and zero

The poor service matches the quality of food. The beef is dry and tasteless. They close very early and are very rude about it - they turn on the light and give you the check and generally rush you.

I wasn't gonna write a review but after reading the negative reviews I felt I had to speak up. I'm Thai. I love Pad Thai. I've realized that Pad Thai is hard to make consistent and I realized that Thai people don't really eat Pad Thai or at least the kind that is served in the restaurants. It's an americanized dish akin to Orange Chicken. With that said I wouldn't judge the restaurant on a dish they probably put on the menu as a courtesy. Nor would I judge a restaurant based on a take-out experience.

Now what I love about Tuk Tuk is that it differs from Thai Town cuisine in that it strives to present Thai food in a health conscious fashion without sacrificing the spice and the taste. Being a Thai person with a western style, it suited me perfectly. No stomach pains and I still gets me rice, which is a great hearty purple rice they serve. Oh and their eggrolls are awesome. Big and delicately fried.

Pros: The Food, The Healthy Slant

Cons: It's not close to where I live!

A friend of mine, whom is a really picky eater recommended it to me. Well I was really impressed, b/c I'm a sourthern girl from N.O. So everything I let on my pallet has to be well seasoned and a hearty meal. Well I had this wontong soup with some ot the eggrolls and a small side of curry soup. I was floored when finished. I could'nt eat it all and wish they had a location in Atlanta. It had been 10 years since I had been to L.A., so this was a trip I refused to let go bad. I expected everything to go perfect and it started w/TukTuk. The service is really attentive and the waiters and waitresses were really cute, the aroma makes you wanna eat everything, my Wonton Soup was perfect. I will be back

I was craving Thai one night and decided to try a different place, so I googled "Best Thai food in Los Angeles," and came across Tuk Tuk Thai Cafe. I overlooked the negative ratings since their were more positive ratings overall, so I decided to call for carry-out to get the generic favorite of mine, Pad Thai. The waitress asked if I wanted it with Shrimp without telling me it would be $4.00 extra, so when I got to the restaurant, I went ahead and paid for it without questioning as long as it would be as "good" as the reviews say it is.

I eagerly drove home to take my first bite of the Shrimp Pad Thai, and turned out to be extremely disappointed with the soggy noodles that had only a few dried up pieces of shrimp, and an overly sweet or sour taste that left a dry salty distasteful feel in my mouth. I'm not one to complain, so I forced myself to keep eating it until it became unbearable. When I realized the agony of forcing myself to the point of not being able to eat it anymore and that my $15 had gone down the drain, I drove all the way back to the restaurant, returned the dish, and asked for my money back. Instead of apologizing for the bad food, the waitress argued with me and pronounced that I had eaten half of it already, as if I was lying and asking for a free meal. I felt like I had to defend myself, so I explained to her that I am not one to complain or return food, and that it was my 1st time doing this. I emphasized that it was the worst Pad Thai I ever had. Even a hole in the wall place had better food than this place!

Anyhow, after getting offended and a bit hot-tempered, she tried to shut me up and give me my money back. All I can say is RUDE SERVICE and TERRIBLE FOOD!!! Whoever gave reviews on good service and good food did not have that waitress OR that Pad Thai. Either the manager needs to monitor his cooks and servers, or some customers are just lucky. In my book of best restaurants, it SHOULD BE consistent!

I skimmed some of the other reviews and everyone keeps talking up the way the place looks. We went for the first time the other night and it was just okay. I ordered the Pad Thai and it was average at best. Like a lot of people this is the dish I always order for a first time at Thai restaurants. I can make Pad Thai at home with supplies from Trader Joe's at about this quality. The next day, we had the Pad Thai at the little hole in the wall on Third, next to K-Mart and across the street from the Farmer's Market (I can't remember the name) that was head and shoulders above the Yuk Yuk Pad Thai. I KNOW I can drive to Thai Town for better Thai, but come on, for those prices I want more than just decorations. Only on the west side of LA would a place like this get 5 stars and just because of the way it looks.

Went with a friend based on reviews at this website. Was satisfied with almost everything. Very friendly, young and pretty female waitresses ushered us to our table. It was a candle-lit. Very good ambience with tiny thai autorikshaw models and pictures on the walls.
We ordered a sea food (trout) and a from the wok dish with red rice. I can vouch for its taste. Pricing was very reasonable. Ended up spending around 30$ between 2 of us.
Parking available on a side-street, but could be difficult at busier times of the day.

The best curry I have ever tested might possibly be from Tuk Tuk. Very flavorful!! The vegetable spring rolls and pad thai are good as well. The inside of the restaurant is sooo cute and is a great date place- dark and romantic :)
Very reasonable lunch specials here also.

My boyfriend and I ordered Tuk Tuk take out & were very disappointed. Tuk Tuk had come highly recommended, so we were very excited to try it. My boyfriend always orders the Pad Thai when trying out new restaurants as a gauge of how good the restaurant is & he couldn't eat it. The Pad Thai had strong brackish taste & did not even resemble Pad Thai. He had even requested no fish sauce. My dish was very greasy and bland eventhough i requested medium spicy. We will never order or visit Tuk Tuk again. There are too many other great Thai food restaurants in the city.

After reading all the other reviews I was a little confused. I mean such a disparity! I say manage your expectations. Tuk Tuk is a casual, neighborhood thai food restaurant that has a delicious menu. Love the Papaya salad. And the service can be erratic. But such is dining in Los Angeles. Well worth it for a casual night out or for ordering in.

Love the decor, food presentation and service. Met the Chef, very unassuming but confident. Pad Thai was wonderful, garlic tofu was a bit on the garlicky side but great. The spring rolls were unbelieveable. Will revisit often.

Called late, 10:15. We needed food for a poker party, 12 guys. The waitress was a little hesitant, she needed to ask the kitchen. Came back, took the order...food delivered at 10:45 - GREAT JOB. I'll call earlier next time.

The bamboo bar, arched ceilings, wood floors and tasty color palate blend nicely with the wonerful food and creative drink menu. The staff is friendly, sometimes rushed, it is very busy on the weekends. For a more intimate experience try an off day (Tuesday or Wednesday). On street parking is sufficient on weekdays. For a good discount use your KCRW (10%) card or Rewards Retwork CC (10%). Crying Tiger Beef, Pear Salad & a Singha is my fav meal. Happy dining.

I lived in Thailand for nearly a year and can tell you there is nothing authentic about this Thail food, nor is it fresh, and the ingredients are questionable.
When I ordered take-out, I got a price over the phone but was then charged more than I was quoted.
When I questioned it, they said they'd made a mistake on the phone. I thought it was shady.
A male friend of mine goes here a lot and when I ate there with him the food wasn't bad.
But when I went in alone to have a quick lunch, it was the WORST green curry I've ever had: runny, tasteless and the chicken was rubbery.
I think this place is still in business all these years ONLY because it's the ONLY Thai place in the area.

I know, PAD THAI is such a farang dish to order. I love it, can't help it...I've tried many times to order other things but I'm always left wishing I would have gotten the PAD THAI. Tuk-Tuk does a mean Pad Thai. One of the best I've ever had.

Been in SF for a couple years. Moved back to West LA because of FOX (UGH). I feel like such a sleaze. Any-who, couldn't wait to visit friends at tuk-tuk. The new remodel is charming, but is the food still good? BETTER! Everything about tuk-tuk makes me want to stay in LA. FOX should put this restaurant on the payroll, it's really the only reason to work at FOX *because it's so close). Well, back to putting my head up RM's A$$.

After reading some reviews here I've decided to give Tuk Tuk Thai a try (even with the negative reviews). The negative reviews are so true. This is my first time ordering from Tuk Tuk Thai and this will also be my last time doing business with them because the food is not that good, they are expensive, they deceptively overcharge you, and totally dishonest. I don't do business with shady people. I totally do not recommend Tuk Tuk Thai. Stay away from this place!

I have been to a few Thai places in LA and this restaurant is way too overated. It is expensive and not good at all. I always order a Pad Thai and a Green Curry whenever I go to a new Thai restaurant so I can compare the quality from restaurant to restaurant. Tuk Tuk Thai is below average.

The Pad Thai I ordered from Tuk Tuk Thai was way too sweet and had way too much garlic flavor. The 2 pieces of shrimp and chicken were overcooked and the quality of the chicken was bad, as in not so fresh, all dark meat, and had a lot of chicken fat attached. The serving size was the same as Natalee Thai

The Green Curry (Kang Keiw Wan) was oily and watered down. The green curry sauce was thin and didn't have much coconut flavor, meaning not much coconut milk used. The chicken in the green curry was like that of the Pad Thai - overcooked dark meat, fatty chicken.

This place is shady because they overcharge you on purpose. I downloaded the menu from their website before I called in my order. When I went to pick up my order I was overcharged $1.00 for the Pad Thai and $0.75 for the Green Curry. When I asked to see a take out menu so I can see the menu prices the younger waitress was going to grab one but the older waitress quickly butt in and was like "We ran out". This place is deceptive and the food is not that good so AVOID! AVOID!, AVOID!, AVOID! Tuk Tuk Thai.

Give Thai Beer or Natalee Thai a try. They are cheaper and taste better.

Thai restaurants aren't usually known for their ambiance, but this place is super cute and romantic. The food is really great, authentic and fresh. The service is fine, I wouldn't call it 2nd level but they get the job done. My fiance and I love going here, it's great for an impromptu night out and it's pretty inexpensive too. Try the coconut curry dumplings and the pad thai.

Delicious and authentic Thai food served in heaping portions for very low prices. I love the chicken pad thai or the 'combination' pad see ew (a rice noodle dish with shrimp, beef, and chicken) with a tall glass of Thai iced tea. They also have a vast appetizers menu, the best are the angel's wings (stuffed chicken wings) and the shrimp spring rolls. For dessert go for the mango with sticky rice for a subtly sweet end to your meal. The atmosphere at Tuk Tuk is rather hip but the staff is friendly and service is quick.

There are certain dishes here that are phenomenal and others that aren't.

I have only had good service there once (last week), every other time not only is it painfully slow and they just don't care. one time, the sauces for our entrees came when we almost done with them and I had to ask for our two side dishes which ended up coming when we were done with our entrees.

The Chicken Panang curry is the best I have ever had(except last week the chicken was dry), the Pad Thai is so good, Tom Yum Gai fabulous, Spicy Shrimp were delish and Pad Gra Pow with scallops yummy!

It's good Thai but I've had better!

Warning: The service here is like molasses

I've been getting carry out and dining in at Tuk Tuk for over a year now. Their number has been on my cell phone for awhile, so I feel confident in saying that it's one of the best Thai restaurants that I've ever been to. When I moved into the area, I first tried Natalee Thai at both of their locations and was impressed until I found how much more food and a cheaper price you get at Tuk Tuk and the quality is the same! I recommend the Green and Panang Curry with Chicken, Papaya Salad and of course the Thai BBQ Chicken when you're feeling health-conscious.

I've been here a few times and they finished their renovations where now they have orange walls which is interesting. Their panang chicken curry is amazing and their pad thai is very good too. I come here for lunch just before noon and can find street parking but it fills up very quickly.

this place is great either as a place for dining in or take out. either way, the crab noodles are great -- if you like them spicy, try medium first; i tried the spicy once and boy, were they really spicy! one of my faves also is the catfish. the fried basil adds a nice touch. the pork chop is also great -- i think that the sauce makes all the difference. and, each entree is very very affordable. i keep coming back to this place...

this place is great either as a place for dining in or take out. either way, the crab noodles are great -- if you like them spicy, try medium first; i tried the spicy once and boy, were they really spicy! one of my faves also is the catfish. the fried basil adds a nice touch. the pork chop is also great -- i think that the sauce makes all the difference. and, each entree is very very affordable. i keep coming back to this place...

Pros: the food, the service

Cons: parking could be painful depending on when you go

.

Delighted first at the reasonable prices on the menu, we ordered a bit more than what we normally would. When we got the bill, the $6.95 lunch special became $8.95! This type of mistake has just happened too often to be an accident! Most of the time I would dispute and I would have no problem getting them corrected but I also don't want to be remembered and risk getting snott in my food next time. I admit the food for this experience was good albeit the best seller Sate chicken and Pad Thai are too sweet for my taste.

This is not the first time I was overcharged inconspiciously in a Thai and/or Chinese restaurant, esp. the medium and low priced ones. Often time, $1.99 ended up being $2.99, a $2 drink ended up being $2.50, esp. in take out. This totally negates the otherwise pleasant experience. Forget about the ok atmosphere. I can always tip less and go somewhere else a few more times to get even. Don't get carried away by the smiling service, watch your bill.

I was really excited to check out this restaurant based on all the great reviews I read, but was sadly dissapointed. The servers did not seem to know what ingredients were in certain entrees. They were also quite rude. The food was not good at all. I ordered the Pad Thai with vegetabes and tofu. There were maybe 4 pieces of brocolli and 2 small carrots. No tofu. No other vegetables. Overall the service was horrible and the food was not good. I also like to support small family-style restaurants, but this one is nothing of the sort. The ambience inside is really nice, but that is all you will get at this little thai joint. My recommendation? Don't even bother!

We used to go to Tuk Tuk every week, because it's just charming and quaint, plus the food was great. And they make one good lychee martini. Then the restaurant got way popular, and I guess this smaller, family-run business is just not built to handle all the guests. Last month, I took my mom to Tuk Tuk, we both noticed that they kept overcooking our meat, one dish after another. The beef and chicken in our stir fry and curries are just chewy, and hard to swallow. We thought it might have just happened that once, so we didn't bother to tell them. Then I went again last night with my boyfriend. The restaurant was crowded on a Thursday night, so we were offered to sit at the bar and wait. We waited for about 10 minutes, and promptly got our table. Then the service ended there. No one came to take our order for another 20 minutes, and we had to vigoriously flag waiters down to get their attention. Then our food took another 25 minutes to serve, and that's after we tried to flag them down again. We ordered pad-sew-yu and green currie, but again, the beef in both dishes was extremely overcook. I was very diappointed, because another great restaurant has become touristy. I don't think I'll go back, at least not for awhile.

Pros: only go for the drinks, lychee martini and sake choices are good

Cons: their dishes have gone way down below average, chewy beef, bad curries

They don't take reservations for parties smaller than 4, so we had to wait about 20 minutes, but once we sat down our meal was very good. Don't go here to have a private meal or conversation - the place is very small and feels a little cramped. Everything we ate was good except the curry was a little "off". It's worth trying some of the many other things that looked good on the menu. Good prices for the large portions.

There are certain dishes here that are phenomenal and others that aren't. I might stick with delivery from now on because every single time I have eaten here the service is awful. not only are they painfully slow, they just don't care. this last time was the worst, the sauces for our entrees came when we almost done with them and I had to ask for our two side dishes which came when we were done with our entrees. The Chicken Panang curry is the best I have ever had, the Pad Thai is so good, Tom Yum Gai fabulous, Spicy Shrimp were delish and Pad Gra Pow with scallops yummy! I will eat here again but like I said I'll probably order takeout...

I've had the Pad Thai, Siam Pork Chop, BBQ Chicken, Spicy Beef Salad, and Egg Rolls and they've all been excellent. The pork chop and beef salad deserves special mention because it's very flavorful, juicy, and not too tough. The only con is the lack of parking around the restaurant during lunch rush hour.

Everything on this menu is amazing! and ever since their rennovations, the ambience has only gotten better! i recommend the lunch time specials (also on weekends!) where you can order for less than $10 and get the same portions are dinner time for cheaper! Park on the side streets (metered 2 hr parking.)

Pros: food, ambience, fast service

Cons: location. it's a little hard to see on Pico, so look out for the hookah shop right next to it.

I thought this miniature legend really lived up to its reputation. Flavorful dishes with lots of tofu and vegan options, simple but affortable wine list, and accomadating, personal service. A good deal and a good date spot, make a reservation.

I've been to tuk-tuk more times than I'd care to admit. I am a creature of habit, in that, I can't force myself to order anything but the Curry Dumplings, Beef Salad and Morning Glory. I'm sure there's other items worthy of trying but I just can't do it. Honestly, the best meal in Los Angeles.

I was hugely disappointed with the food mostly because of the rave reviews here on citysearch -- but there were some genuinely blah dishes and other complaints: the spicy duck salad was not spicy, and the duck was dry; the dumplings in green curry -- a nice idea -- were very bland; the tom kah gai was skimpy; the water spinach was overcooked. On the other hand, the spicy catfish was pretty good, as was the coconut flan. And the drink selection was very good. But I'm certain that this is not the best thai restaurant in Los Angeles, and probably not even on the Westside.

My favorite: The chicken satay, the panang shrimp, and the pad thai were out of this world! I went last night for the first time and I am going back tonight for more!

Ever since the remodel it's hard to get a seat. A new patio addition adds to the seating capacity as well as a new sit down bar. Service is hurried, maybe because it's a small staff and space and the gals a very busy. I always get a smile and that's sufficient for me. The main reason to head to tuk tuk is the food, always spot on. Pear salad, curry dumplings & Crying tige...mm mm good.

Restaurant is chic, clean and simple. Food is fresh and good for a summer's day, but service is HORRIBLE. They pretty much hustle in the corner and chat and hardly pay any attention to diners. In short, overrated.

This place is awesome. I don't know why anyone would complain about the service, I think the service is great. The waitresses are very sweet and remember your order from last time and are thrilled when you return. The food is well priced and the portions are large. Someone complained about the size of the portions...nonsense, unless you are a hefty one you may need to order two meals probably like you do everywhere else or eat before you go. The chicken sate is outstanding, the curries are wonderful, everything is the best and the freshest ingredients. The shrimp in any dish are fresh, large and they do not skimp on them. This restaurant is definitely a charm. Parking is easy...find a meter or two hour parking for free.
We dine here 3-5 times a week....so that should tell you something. They deserve the 9.9 review which is outstanding for 44 reviews. We love tuk-tuk!!!!!!!!!

i've immersed myself in thai cuisine (and culture) for the last 7 years and can differentiate among regional cuisines (issan, udon, bangkok) blindfolded. like many other thai eateries transplated onto california soil, tuk tuk tends to defy traditional regional differnces. its pad woon sen, for example, incorporates californian's interest in health by adding veggie ingredients (soy bean and broccoli sprouts, for example) not found in other places i've eaten. and it does so while maintaining textual and taste balances. clearly, the kitchen cares about what it puts out to its customers. on another front and quite candidly, i returned after a hiatus of a couple years for a hopeful (but foolish) glimpse of a certain long-limbed waitress. alas, she was gone, probably long whisked away by another customer. but the pad woon sen was just as good as i remembered it--but on this slow sunday, 30 minutes after ingestion, it gave me...how shall i put it delicately?...the runs. i intend to return (lilke tomorrow, a friday) when their their food is turned over more frequently. i've dined at the sister site, rambutan, in silver lake, and found the food not as good, and more expensive--though they do have those long-limbed waitresses.
