Reviews for Cal Pac Roofing

Ratings_icons An excellent roofing company

Kim W.

I recently decided to change my house's roof. I started by choosing 3 roofing companies to get quotes. Cal Pac was one of the chosen because I had noticed that they did the roofs of several houses in my town (Hillsborough) and all of them looked very nice.
Cal Pac's quote was substantially lower than the other two competitors', which were both very well-known and reputable companies. That was reason enough for me to choose Cal Pac and I have absolutely no regrets that I did. Tony, the estimator, is a very high calibre professional who is honest, straight forward and a pleasure to work with. He delivered everything he promised and always went the extra mile. The job was done on time and the people who did the work were courteous, tidy and efficient. In short, I have nothing but the highest praise for Tony and his crew. Several of my friends have asked me who did my roof because they were impressed with the way it came out. If you're thinking of updating your roof, give Tony a call. You'll be glad that you did!

Ratings_icons What a relief!

Ashley J.

Kudos to Cal-Pac for doing just what they said they'd do This was our first experience having a new roof installed, and we are very happy with how things went. We were warned by friends and neighbors that getting a new roof can be a nightmare, and heard lots of horror stories, so we were fearing the worst while hoping for the best. We got 2 estimates and while Cal-Pac's bid was a touch more than the other one, we felt comfortable with the estimator, Tony, and the fact that we'd been seeing them do work in our neighborhood for a few years. The only hitch we ran into was a little unexpected dry rot, but they handled it quickly and without making a big deal out of it or charging us a lot money, and from there it was pretty smooth sailing until the finished product. The roof looks great, made it through the rains last weekend with flying colors, and I would happily be a reference for them and recommend that anyone needing a new roof get in touch with them. Thanks again guys. A.J.

Ratings_icons Quick and Dirty - Installed new roof over dry-rotted plywood.

George R.

Two years ago Cal Pac Roofing in San Mateo, CA replaced my roof. They removed the old roof down to the plywood and then re-shingled.

I recently noticed dry rot under the eaves. Cal Pac sent an inspector who said that:
The damage is extensive. The plywood on the roof is damaged from the edge back at least 2 feet.
This much damage would have happened over many years.

The Cal Pac Manager told me that this type of damage is a 'problem because it slows down the roofing job.' Which, to me, means they have good reason to try to ignore it. He agreed that the damage would have taken many years to happen. But I have to prove they saw the damage before Cal Pac will take any responsibility.

What ever roofer you use be home and up there watching while they do the work. Take pictures.

Ratings_icons They do steel roofs

Martha B. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 872

We wanted to repace our old shake roof with a steel roof (comes in tiles and coated with dark pebbles to look like shakes). There are only a couple of companies who do this kind of roof--lifetime warranty, high wind resistance, better insulation, etc. Cal Pac was very good but only had one guy who could do the installation, so it took a little longer than we would have liked. This was a tough job as we have 10 skylights which he had to remove and replace and multiple roof levels. We had one leak afterward and they were very good at getting this fixed promptly
