My daughter has been riding here for over four years. We thoroughly enjoy; the clean and beautiful facilities, the knowledgeable upbeat attitude of the owners, the positive training methods, and the healthy happy horses. We spent a few years at other barns in Rescue and Fair Oaks where either the expertise was missing or the saftey standards of the facilities & trainers was lacking. I do not think we will ever change barns again.

Wow, I cannot say enough about the level of progress my daughter has made since we have been with Los Lagos (March 2011). First, the barn is beautiful, clean, and the staff is excellent as well as knowledgable. She has received fantastic training and one on one attention and has been exposed to some beautiful horses! She went from walking and trotting to now being able to jump over 3 feet! Carrie and her trainers are dedicated to their students and obviously love what they do. The horses are well maintained and cared for and from what I have observed, given prime treatment. They go above and beyond to do fun activities, shows, and clinics to give clients a well rounded experience. Highly recommend!

I have been to many barns across the country and the love and care shown at Los Lagos is unlike any other in the Hunter-Jumper industry. It is very clear that Carrie is not in it for the money, you can tell she really CARES about the animals and the students and puts her whole heart into it. Her daughter, Jill, is a world-class rider (I even got to watch her in a grand prix once out at Rancho Murieta!) My daughter and I took lessons from Carrie for over a year and not only did it really help our progressions as riders, but also strengthened our bond with one another. Her riding program really gets the kids motivated both individually and as a group. The arenas are highest quality but the thing that is really great is the trails that go right to Folsom Lake. How many barns can boast the ability to beach ride? I would suggest anyone looking to continue their skills as a rider or someone looking to start check out Los Lagos before anyone else, it really is something special!

I have riden for may years and been at several barns throughout the years. Some very top notch. Los lagos is situated in one of the most beautiful settings in California with access to Folsom lake and trails. While some facilities might have more it comes with a price tag. Los Lagos is reasonably priced with great options for training and pocket book. One of the things I like most about this barn is the owner's,trainers and people at the barn. It's NOT all about the money. They truely care for the well being of your horse and you. Both Carrie and Jill have extensive experience and knowledge in the hunter/jumper arena. Both do ride and will get on your mount to educate the rider. At some barns this is not the case.
Additionally the parties, trail rides and off barn activites make this a very special place.
After reading some comments from A.B, I'd personaly like to address some of these.
1) It's apparent you have not trained in the past at any reputable training barns because if you had you'd know the pricing is closer to double for the same services
2) A training log? I've trained with an olympic trainer as well as many other top trainers. NONE do this!
If you felt your horse was NOT being properly trained you should have REMOVED IT!!!
3) Your horse never progressed? The insinuation that your horse was improperly treated is both liable and slanderous in nature. ALL horses here at Los Lagos are ALWAYS treated with kindess and trained exceptionally well.
4) your having trouble getting him back to work? sounds like you don't know how to ride and perhaps should spend time in the seat instead of having others ride your horse.
5) changing shows at a barn is quite commeon due to how many other riders will be attending any particular show.

Lastley you just flat out sound like a SPOILED BRAT whom wasn't getting ALL the attention. It's a common problem in America today.

I sent my young horse here for training for 8 months. Jill Andrews did a fabulous job starting him and working him through low level jumping courses and beginning flat work. However, the last three+ months of training were a complete waste of my money. He never progressed past the first couple months and I've had trouble getting him back to working since taking him out of Los Lagos. I can tell he hasn't been worked consistently in a long time. The problems started pretty much around the time I let them know I would only be staying a couple more months because their costs were breaking the bank. Very disappointing. They just dropped off as soon as I was no longer a potential long term client; quite rude and unprofessional to say the least. It felt horrible to be treated like that while I was still paying for "Platinum" training!
More importantly, though, the business end of the training program was HORRIBLE. After the first couple months, my phone calls and emails were rarely returned and I didn't receive ANY updates on my horse's training. Literally, not one communication from anyone for over two months. The only consistent thing was the charge on my credit card!! Decisions were made for me without any consultation or even notification; including switching shows at the last second- costing me thousands for schooling shows instead of the "A" circuits I was willing to pay that kind of money for. I had zero communication from the manager, Carrie; or the trainer, Jill, despite countless attempts to contact them. It was incredibly frustrating and really leads me to question what was really going on at their facility while I was paying them to train my horse.
They refused to furnish any training logs or summaries, or give me ANY details about my horse (even simple things like, how does he trailer? how does he clip, bathe, tie? How are his ground manners? How does he do for the farrier?). I have NO idea what they did with my horse while he was there, except for what I can guess from riding and working with him now.
I'm glad I got out when I did; everything past 90 days was a complete waste of time and money. I would never send another horse here; not because my horse turned out horribly (he really was started very well and I'm happy with that) but because they are SO difficult to deal with and incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. What kind of professional training facility can't/won't furnish any type of log or summary about the training they performed?!

Business Response:

No dissatisfaction was mentioned until 2 months after this client was gone from our barn and wanted a written review of her horse's training for someone interested in trying him. I told her to have the trainer call me rather than give her a long written summary. When the summary she got was short and to the point, she became very irate. And that is why she is attacking our business in this way. When we get a horse from another trainer, or any of our horses go to another barn, it is customary that we trainers talk and give any important information needed. It's plain and simple. She was extremely happy and satisfied with our training the entire time he was at Los Lagos. She loved the sale videos I made, free of charge, to show her his progress. I also sent videos of his performance in classes at the horse shows. It is not true I never returned her emails and phone calls. I have copies of over 12 emails, also texts and phone calls just from the last 2 months she had him in training. Its sad that a person who lives out of state has to fabricate information about our training program when she is not there to witness our quality consistent training and care we give to our horses.
.

When we moved our horses to Los Lagos Equestrian we found home. We have never known nicer, kinder, people than Gene, Carrie and Jill.
Our horses are receiving the best training, conditioning and care available, and are successfully shown by Jill all the way to the Grand Prix level.

The horses literally glow at Los Lagos from a top notch feeding program! Having ridden and shown for over 43 years I've never learned as much as I have with Carrie and Jill. I am a raving fan and look forward to each and every lesson :-). You can't beat Los Lagos for great facilities, great training and rider education (no matter what your level), outstanding feeding program and great friends! This is the best and last barn for me - no more switching trainers or being an unsatisfied customer- that does not exist at Los Lagos- come join the fun!!!

We boarded our daughter's horses at Los Lagos Equestrian Center over a period of seven years. Carrie and Jill made the experience a memorable one for us all. They are experts in patiently preparing riders for every level of competition, and yet their lessons are consistently fun and exciting. While we have seen many equestrian centers come and go over the years, Carrie has not only maintained her facilities, but is constantly improving them! When our daughter left for college with her horse, we were very happy to discover that the skills she acquired from working with Jill and Carrie made her highly competitive in her new environment.

Having ridden and boarded horses at many stables for over 50 years, I can honestly say that Los Lagos Equestrian Center is truly a unique and wonderful place. I have boarded two different horses over a period of 9 years at this barn, and have the greatest respect for Carrie's coaching and training skills, and for Jill Andrews talent as a rider and trainer. Besides her awesome knowledge as a hunter/jumper trainer, Carrie is extremely skilled as a teacher. Best of all for me, as an "older" rider who is still jumping, she always gives me confidence, and every lesson is a joy for me and my horse.
Los Lagos is located in an idyllic area with gorgeous trails winding around Folsom Lake, and up into the hills. What a joy to be able to go out for a trail ride with friends after an exhilarating jumping lesson! It just doesn't get any better than this! maralee e

I have been a boarder at Los Lagos Equestrian Center since 1990.

That in itself should say a lot for the facility and the care given not only to my horse but to me.

The setting is peaceful and secure, the arenas are consistently groomed. the indoor arena is wonderful and allows horse and rider the ability to ride year round. Access to Folsom Lake trails abuts the property.

I feel very comfortable recommending them professionally and personally.

Los Lagos is a great place to ride either in the arenas or on the trails. It is nice to be able to have a lesson and then be able to get your horse out on the trail to give him some variety.

Jill rode my horse to the Arabian Hunter Over Fences National Championship 1999, as well as showing open with great success.
This year we are taking my other horse to open shows as well as Arabian shows to get him ready for Nationals. Jill and Carrie are willing to work with any horse that has potential as a hunter or jumper and help take the horse to its highest level.

Riding for pleasure or training for serious competition is fun and positive at Los Lagos. Carrie and Jill have a groom so they have more time to concentrate on directly working with riders and horses. The horses in training get extra attention. If you have special concerns, Carrie will do whatever she can to make your horse happy.

Los Lagos Equestrian Center, located in Granite Bay, CA has it all! Included on the property are three groomed outdoor arenas (one of which is dedicated to dressage), one indoor arena, and turnout areas. When on the property you feel as if you are a world away from the bustle of suburban living.

Their boarding facility provides a horse owner with choices ranging from outdoor paddocks which include an enclosure for your horse, to full service, training barn box stalls. The arenas are groomed daily, and are refreshed with new footing as needed. The property has excellent access to miles of trails in adjoining Folsom State Park.Carrie Orcutt and Jill Andrews provide an excellent English-hunter jumper training environment for riders of all levels. They also do a beautiful job of training hunter jumpers and all levels of English equitation.

They maintain a wholesome, family friendly environment. Gene Orcutt can be seen regularly on site ensuring that the facility is being properly maintained. There is 24 hour surveillance on the property; employees live on site. I have boarded my horse there since 1991 and cannot imagine moving anywhere else!

Thanks to my favorite "Early Bird"! I don't think Los Lagos would be the same without you Karen. I can always count on you being there no matter how early I get there in the morning!! And you are like a guardian angel, always letting me know immediately if there is a horse problem or need for repairs that I have missed. We love you Karen and Smokey!!

Situated up in the hills with 4 arenas and miles of riding trails around Folsom Lake, Los Lagos is a first rate equestrian center. Carey and Jill are quite adept at breaking down the componets of good equitation to better aid the training of the rider as well as the horse. They have tuned up my older jumper and are training my 3 year old. The lessons incoroprate practice in equitation, both on the flat and over fences. They are varied, highlighting different things each time. I am a better rider now, than I was a year ago. Plus, the horses are very happy up there and thrive. I can't think of a better way to spend a day than a great lesson, followed by a relaxing ride through oak forrests and along the lake. I would highly recommend Los Lagos.
