1 Stars: Defective Product and Non Existent Customr Service (by Lisa S.)

My dad purchased a battery 2 years ago from Pep Boys. HE passed away, the battery is defective. We asked for a partial credit to buy a new battery. Manager says no, principal contact must request this. My mom has the death certificate. We will never go back and we are asking friends/family to boycott the Pep Boys on 4441 Genesee Ave. San Diego. They are inhuman.

1 Stars: WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER (by Rod P.)

this was the first time in years that i saw THE MANAGER being a jerk. His attitude is cocky and unacceptable. i already heard that pepboys had a terrible customer service, but i couldn't believe how terrible it was.

i really couldn't believe that!
I tried to call the corporate office and report the manager and i couldn't believe that they don't support this type of thing. i should go talk to the manager, yet the manager was the person that acted like that! This is their company way of treating customers.

will never go there anymore! never! i recommend you go to the Autozone or the Kragen accross Balboa Ave for your parts needs as they will take a better care of you.

1 Stars: Shenanigans (by Kevin J.)

I bought four tires from Pep Boys during their buy three get one free sale that was on TV. Was supposed to get $150 after mailing in a rebate form, but four months later I still have no check, not really happy about it though I guess I can't blame the 92117 store for me not getting me a check from corporate headquarters, it just adds to my list here. It should be noted this store tried to charged me for an alignment that they didn't perform, I caught it on the bill and they took it off, they even said they didn't do an alignment and that it was only supposed to be a recommendation rather than a billing (sure it was).
All the same I was happy with my new tires.

Then about a month later my car really did need a wheel alignment, it pulled hard to the right and drifted when I didn't steer it straight. I decided to bring it to Pep Boys for service. The mechanic called me several hours later saying it was done and that I could come pick up my car. Since I live about half a mile away I walked there, but walking by I noticed the car hadn't been moved, it had parked a bit funny and was still parked the same way I left it (with the wheels cocked), I pointed out that my car hadn't been moved and they said again it was fixed. So I paid, got my keys, and drove out of their lot with my car pulling to the right. Drove right back and told the store manager that the workers hadn't moved my car out of the spot, he said "don't make accusations," I said that's exactly what I was doing since my car hadn't been moved or fixed and I had paid them for that service. He said that they'd "take another look at it" and after few more hours I walked back from my house and drove the car home nice and straight. It's going to be inconvenient not taking my car there anymore.

Then today I got a nail stuck in the tread of one of my tires causing a slow leak, and since I had paid for the hazard warranty that I didn't ask for on my tire sale I figured I should use it, should have been a free fix.
Dropped my car off at 4:06pm and came back at 8:30pm (the car had been promised by 6pm), but once again my car hadn't been moved from the parking space I left it in. I got my keys and asked to speak with the manager, nobody in the store gave two cares about what was going on, the manager I talked to (Adrian Hernandez) claimed to be in charge of the sales floor only and said the mechanic guys were in someone elses department.

So I have to take my car someplace else tomorrow to have the leaking tire fixed, maybe Ill find another Pep Boys who might honor their warranty, or maybe Ill just have to pay Big O Tires on Convoy to fix it. I have no idea if the Big O place is good or not but my friend says good things, I will definitely read some reviews first.

I do not recommend getting your car serviced by Pep Boys store #0978 on Genesee Ave in the 92117 zip code!

1 Stars: Never to return... (by Jennifer B.)

I thought that a well-known repair shop like Pep Boys would be a good place to fix my leaking steering fluid. Unfortunately, I was wrong. After picking up my car and driving 0.25 miles away, my "check engine" light came on. Naturally, I immediately drove my vehicle back to Pep Boys at 4441 Genesee Ave to tell them about the problem (what a mistake). With a dumb-founded look they admitted doing absolutely nothing wrong and said the issue was completely coincedental. Then, they presented me with a $90 statement "offerring" to run an engine diagnostic test. Completely unprofessional AND to top it all off, my steering fluid is still leaking today. Run in the other direction!!!

4 Stars: Always on time (by Daryl S.)

This Pep Boys always hits their deadlines. I've gotten brakes, tuneups and oil changes done there. And even if I think the time the estimate is too short, I come back and it's done!

5 Stars: Old Favorite (by Alana T.)

I would like to say I'm not a sucker for advertising but that just wouldn't be true. I saw the commericals for Pep Boys and I had to go in and see for myself. The sales staff was really helpful in getting my family exactly what we needed for our automobile. They have a large selection of products. The prices were competitive with other stores silimar. Great customer service - nothing better than service with a smile. Plently of parking at this location, and it's easy to find.

5 Stars: Still around, and for good reason. (by Michael T.)

I know it sounds like I'm selling out to their advertising, but Pep Boys really is one of the best options when it comes to purchasing parts, equipment, or accessories for one's car. The staff as a whole knows their stuff, and the selection is large enough to satisfy without being overwhelming. The prices are fairly good, and though one may save a dollar or two by going to a Wal*Mart or something, it's often worthwhile to purchase from a store that has actual knowledge of the product they sell.

By way of example, I had an alternator inexplicably die on me a few years back. The warranty was still in effect, and when the part was taken in for a replacement the thing was done with no hassles or problems. More than can be said for most places when it comes to honoring a warranty.

PROS: Knowledgeable eployees, good selection.
CONS: Slightly more expensive than other retail outlets.
