This is the best comic book store in all of Southern California. I like digging through the vintage stacks, which come in every week. The owners are always knowledgeable and helpful. Paton Oswald from King of Queens and Ratattouie practically lives in this joint.

Ratings_icons Best shop in the city

I went in there after an ugly experience at one of their local competitors, and was blown away by the difference. The staff is all very friendly and knows the product well, and the store itself is well laid out, and looks great. The selection is outstanding, from graphic novels to current releases to key back issues, they seem to have it all. They only sell comics, and comic related materials, but they have a subscription service where if you order out of the Previews catalog, they will get it for you, usually at a good discount...

A good friend of mine is a regular customer, and absolutely raves about the place, and has for years. Paul and Eric are nothing but friendly and knowledgeable about the product, and will go out of the way to make you feel welcome, and appreciated. My friend is moving soon, and when they found out, they offered to save their shipping boxes for him immediately. How cool is that?

Ratings_icons Friendly and one of the best kept secrets in LA!

"House of Secrets" is one of the first comic shops I've ever been in that didn't obviously need a copy of "How to Get Women into Your Store", by Friends of Lulu, a group promoting wider readership of comics by women and children. As a female reader and fan who has been buying comics and memorabilia for twenty years, the reaction my girl friends and I have gotten in stores ranges from weird and squicky to hostility. Many comic book stores don't get the picture that they're killing off a potential area for growth, by making their stores creepy or unfriendly places to all except wannabe Alpha Geeks. Not here. During my visits, they treated me like any other customer - with the same friendliness and laidback offers of help they give the guys. Great selection is well taken care of, and although the store is small, it is very clean and maintained. No dusty, well-read comics hanging around here!

The category listing on this is a little misleading ... House of Secrets isn't much more than a comic book store. Furthermore, I should note that I'm not a big comic book guy.

Having said that, I do know this seems to be the best place to get comics in Burbank. I used to work with a guy who did some writing for DC, and occassionally he'd send me there to pick up new issues. They seem to have a very wide selection, which was a surprise since the store looks pretty small from the outside.
