Great cuts 5 Star Rating - World class

Charles who hooked me up with a great haircut. The place has a great view of Union Square. Everyone was friendly, and professional. They also had some good music tunes!

Charles is awesome! 5 Star Rating - World class

I have been going to this salon for a better part of a year, and have tried various stylists there..including Emmanuel, Kash, Jonnie and Charles. They are all great! I go to Charles on a consistent basis and he listens to what you want, and tries his best (and succeeds) at achieving it. I have blonde color and it always seems to turn brassy after a few weeks..Charles worked with me to find the right base, highlights and weaved in color. Looks great! for the first time in awhile, I get compliments on my cut and color. I am very picky and definitely recommend highly..and not to mention, the prices are reasonable. Thanks, Charles!!

Pros: reasonable prices, attentive and skilled staff, great atmosphere
Cons: crazy busy union square location, parking is expensive

Note to self: Use the right adjectives and it will happen- 5 Star Rating - World class

First off, I am highly disappointed in all the horrible opinions others have shared about this highly diversified salon.

Let me begin in explaining my experience: CHARLES (the Frenchman) is AMAZING!! Not only was I a complete walk in. But he did exactly what I asked him; efficiently and what seemed effortless. He paid very close attention to problem areas (i.e. uneven cut bangs, as a result of my previous doing), and even showed concern that perhaps snips of hair had found their way into my can of diet coke. He's a charmer and a great listener. Any true fashionista knows the French exude style, simply cause they are born with it. This confirms the idea that Charles knows exactly what to do, to make you look and feel better about you. And the proof still remains months later, I have been approached countless times and even had my picture taken, because others want that exact cut. It just comes to show that when others ask, "Who did your hair...?" I know I got away with an amazing cut. Unfortunately I live in Houston, and haven't come across anyone just as great. I'm looking forward to my next visit and this time trying some color!!

Thank you Charles! XO

Pros: Great location with friendly and considerate staff!
Cons: Elevator ride to the top, a bit scary.. haha.

Find another Salon if you want a haircut/color that YOU want, not what the stylist wants! 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

I dont know where the good reviews for this salon come from, maybe the owners write them themselves...

My friend and me went there after reading reviews on this website.
I wanted chunky blond highlights and she wanted a short bob.
I told the stylist I put on henna but it was more then a year ago, his response was: I dont promise anything, lets see what happens.
When I'm paying this kind of money for highlights I expect a more intelligent response but I decided to go for it anyway.
After spending about 4 hours in the salon, since the stylist was getting distracted all the time to talk to his friends coming in and pick up his cell phone, I came out with skinny, orange looking highlights.
Not even close to what I was hoping for!!
My friend got a strange, manly looking blunt cut instead of the short, classy bob that she wanted.
Both of us expressed our dissatisfacion but were told that with our hair, this was the best they could do;)

Next morning, I was still upset so I went to a simple salon in Berkeley before work and in about 1 hour came out with the exact highlights I wanted!!!
Inspite of henna and my hair texture;)

Bottom line: I DO NOT recommend Atelier at all!!
Please do yourself a favor and find a stylist who will listen to you and do what you are asking, not what he wants, it's your hair after all!!

Pros: Its clean
Cons: Stylist doesn't listen, gets distracted all the time, simply extremely bad haircut and highlight job

Make sure you know whom you go to 3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

I wanted a nice haircolor and haircut and lost my hairdresser due to a move, so I decided to give a try to this place - afterall, I should be able to get a very nice haircut for $70 - nothing of the kind, the guy chopped my hair in 5 minutes, did not even style it, disregarded what I asked him to do with my hair and comon, I have long straight easy to cut hair. The salon is nice, people are nice but the hairdresser was not good at all and too expansive for making me look like a pudel. I do not remember his name now but he was the French guy, so beware. I would not recommed doing manicare there either - mine was pretty bad

Pros: decent location
Cons: not very good hair stylist
