Canyon Veterinary are Saints and should not be punished for 1 misdiagnosis.I'm truly sorry Nancy G. lost her dog. We all know how painful this is. I've never bothered to write a review before but under the circumstances I felt I had to stand up for Canyon because just 2 days ago I had the the most incredible experience there with a little feral cat named Vern who just showed up at my door a few weeks ago starving. I was going to take her to The SPCA but they wanted her brought there in a cage because they have NO time to give soothing attention to calm them. They drug them in the cage, remove them for surgery and return them to you to do what you will.(i.e.return to the wild?) I brought her to Canyon for a mere $54.00 charge. Dr. Barrett spayed my Vern and it turned out he also had to abort a littler we didn't know she was carrying.I had to pay $75.00 total because of the kittens. They OFFERED to let her spend the pre-surgery nigh plus the night of the surgery and the entire day after so she could recover in peace. Have you ever heard of people with such compassion towards a feral. The Dr and his staff deserve a medal for what they are doing. The pittance I paid doesn't begin to cover his cost. I bought all her shots, HIV/Lukemia tests.I think the entire total was $198.00. I worked with Donna and she was an angel. They are the bests.

I've been taking my dogs to Canyon Vet since moving to Castro Valley years ago and have always been satisfied. Over the years he's treated my pets for everything from minor ear infections to cancer and he's never been wrong with a diagnosis or treatment.
More importantly, he takes the time to discuss the diagnosis and treatment as well as to answer your questions. He's caring and compassionate, and understands the needs of both the pet and the owner. The only way there could be a problem with his care for your pets is if you don't follow his instructions for care and medications - something no vet can overcome.

I spent $2,000 in veterinary bills on my Collie and they misdiagnosed my dog. After four weeks he ended up in the emergency hospital and died within 12 hours. PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU OR YOUR PET.

DO NOT USE!!!!!!! After spending $2,000 this doctor misdiagnosed my dog and he died due to lack of proper care. The emergency veterinary hospital was unable to save him because Dr. Barrett "did not give them enough time to save him." PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOUR FAMILY!!!!!!

A very caring group of people work here. Our little dog Zoe was very well cared for when she was suffering from cancer. Everyone was kind and helpful in giving us all the information that we needed to care for Zoe. They are very reasonable in price.
