Recently went here to meet up with a group of friends. I had a good BLT but the stellar thing was their dessert. We had blueberry custard torte and chocolate mousse torte and I am telling you it was extraordinary. It's kinda funky inside with the front half filled with people on laptops and the back a sit down restaurant, but it's a great location to have pretty much whatever you are feeling the urge for. They have french, American, and alcohol if you want a nip with your meal.

I did a late afternoon bike ride in Berkely, and after I got back, showered and was ready for dinner, it was about 10.30 p.m. Driving around town, I saw lots of bars serving wings, but no late-nite restaurants other than pizza shops. Au Coquelot totally filled the bill. It was very busy but quick as you ordered at the counter and were given a table marker with a number, so no overstressed wait staff. The variety was amazing, with a very continental selection. It was one of the few American restaurants where I could order a carafe of wine, instead of by the glass, or the whole bottle. It was simple vin de table, but inexpensive. I really enjoyed the groove background music, the atmosphere, the quickness of service, the variety, and most of all, the ability to get a really good dinner after 10 p.m. Two days later I came back for another dinner. Just as good.

They have pretty decent food and good donuts and pastries in the morning. The early and late hours are awesome. It's a great after-party spot. They have a pretty good amount of seating and are conveniently located for nighttime Berkeley goodness.

I went to this restaurant on an early Sunday morning with my family, we had the normal American breakfast; pancakes, sausage, omelete, and other things too. I was really not satisfied with the results. And to top it off, our waitress never asked us if we needed anything and had attitude with us, it just ruined our moods for the day. The only good thing about it, is their hot apple cider.

The food here is average, nothing spectacular. Same with the coffee bar in the front. Best part about it is the availability of tables and late night hours - a rarity in Berkeley.

Front half coffee shop, back half restaurant. Au Coquelet is a popular meeting place for Berkeley residents and visitors of many different flavors.

Open late at night, evenings commonly find UC Berkeley students studying amongst the bustling front section; management to keep things manageable with a two-hour table limit. In addition to the coffee / tea / pastry fare typical of coffee shops, Au Coquelet draws in customers with its stunning variety of decadent cakes and fruity tortes.

The back restaurant is spacious, lit by the skylight and much more relaxed than the front. Table service is quick and courteous, and the kitchen offers a selection of breakfast offerings as well hot and cold sandwiches. Though the food prices are a touch disenchanting to my college student budget, I also recognize the retrun-on-the-dollar offered in food quality and ambiance.

PROS: desert selections!
CONS: sometimes hard to find a table

Au Coquelet has a nice little restaurant in the back that makes a pretty good Spanish Omlette, fair Huevos Rancheros, or Eggs Benedict. The prices are fair, and there's usually no wait for a table.

It's not "La Note'" or even "The Homemade Cafe", which I recommend. But then there's usually no wait. Its also close enough to the Saturday Farmers market that you can have breakfast then stroll the vegtables.

PROS: Reasonable Prices, Great Cafe, Good Breakfasts
CONS: Food quality and Service always Good, but not always Great.

I love this place, they are open very late (until 2AM if I recall correctly) and serve late dinner. It's the best place to go in Berkeley if you want to grab a late night coffee or just need a place to go study. Besides coffee, and other drinks they also serve food, such as burgers and sandwiches.

The service is great, they are very friendly, and the prices are reasonable.
