Grand Luxe seems to have taken a page out of the Cheesecake Factory book, but the dishes seem a bit healthier. The portions are huge so have an appetite or you will be taking food home. The service was very good. Much better than you would expect.

Overall, its a good casual setting restaurant with easy access from the Beverly Center parking lot.

Great place to eat however they need to do something about the floor being so slippery! You will definitely see the stars come out from time to time. The customer service is always excellent! And I JUST LOOOOOOVE the Beignets!!!! Those dipping sauces are the BEST!

First up I must say I love the decor and the vastness of this restaurant, it reminds me of one one of those old 1920's supper clubs and I can just imagine a big band playing with girls in flapper dresses, and guys in tuxes!

The service is always good here too, I have always had a nice friendly server who is attentive, friendly but not overbearing.

In fact, the only issue I have with the place is the menu! Grand Lux is owned by the same peeps who own Cheesecake Factory and it really shows in the food. Yes there are generous servings, that come out of the kitchen in a timely manner and look good and taste above average, but at the end of the day it is that same menu that I have begun to get tired of.

Grand Lux lives up to its name when it comes to the venue and staff, alas it definitely lives down to the Cafe part too.

A good place to go with the family while shopping at the Beverly Center for a quick bite though, which is nice.

Grand Lux is like the upscale version of Cheesecake Factory. It has tons of options for what to eat and most of all, lots of desserts. The restaurant is big and has great decorations. It's definitely a reliable place to eat.

Check out the review of this and many other happy hours at: happiest hours(dot)blog spot(dot)com - no spaces between words, but City Search won't allow it any other way. The food was all good, but not great. There are no drink specials, but the prices on food are very good (except the ahi, which was overpriced). The pina colada had to be sent back, which is strange, because in the restaurant part of GL, this is one of the best pina coladas in town, but they couldn't get it right at the bar. They brought out that great Grand Lux bread with butter, and the fried chicken was tasty, but overcooked. The sliders were terrible (have to get back to Happy Endings - now those are great sliders) and the calamari was good. Not much more to say. Can't remember the final tally, but I think it was $75 for three people with tip. A little much for HH, but we did overeat by a bit. If you're already in the Beverly Center, and want some quick, tasty comfort food for cheap, you could do worse than Grand Lux. But I wouldn't make it a special trip.

if you feel like slightly over-paying to eat at a cheesecake factory type of a place, this is the place. but the downside is this place is worse than 'cheesecake.' they try to spoof up the menu w/ slighly more costly& a slightly more 'exotic' menu, but the food is actually a lot better at the cheesecake factory. the ambience is similar as well (but i'd say a lot less noisy), and they have just about the same desserts as 'cheesecake'... i always end up going to 'cheesecake' over this place cuz the food is just better at 'cheesecake' (better salads anyway). we don't get the hype w/ grand lux at all. they should just turn all grand lux cafes to cheesecake factories.

Jambalaya is very good. Served with white rice. I want some now!Friday and Saturday nights, it's a bit crowded, so it's probably best to go during the week or maybe lunch. Not a good date place. It's kinda loud, but it's a nice place to meet your friends.

Myself, my hubby and two kids love this restaurant. We're always in L.A. and so we frequent this place often. The atmosphere is beautiful and makes you want to stay for a nice long meal. They really don't have a kids menu, but they will make a smaller sized pizza for them or a grilled cheese sandwich and some of the appetizers are suitable to be a meal for the kids. Our two kids get the Potato Spring Rolls and have this as their meal.... basically, these are mashed potatoes that are wrapped in a wonton wrapper and lightly fried and then covered with bacon pieces, melted cheese and green onions.....oh man these are good. !!!! The burgers here are pretty tasty as well as the sandwiches ( our favorite is the steak sandwich on a seeded roll ) The pastas are great and you can't go wrong with any of the appetizers....so, yeah, everything here is awesome. Now lets talk about desserts.... where do I start.....YIKES....they are soooooo good...the waiters will tell you to order certain desserts ahead of time because they take awhile to cook, but we never order these desserts until we're done with our meal, ( we don't want to be eating and have our dessert come )...... Our favorite's are the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, the Rustic apple pie,and the Beignets that come with three different sauces to dip them in. Really all the desserts are great....we should know, we've tried most all of them !! So I suggest you try this place if you haven't.

The Grand Lux Cafe at the Beverly Center complex is pretty good but most of the dishes really don't have that much flavor. I've been maybe 3 or 4 times and have yet to find anything great. Portions are large and the deserts rule, so go because you're just plain hungry or because you need to satisfy that sweet tooth, but don't go when you're looking for something delicious. It's just not here.

This place is always on the list of dinner possiblities. I'm a regular and I still haven't gotten halfway through the menu. They have huge portions and a wide variety of food. The atmosphere is adult, but not too stuffy. It's the kind of place that you might see a celeb, but it's not just some trendy place-to-be-seen. Go to enjoy the food, but don't forget to buy some fresh baked chocolate chip cookies to go!

Went to the Gand Lux In LA after church on sunday , really didn't have a good experience , when we were seated we waited over 20 minutes for our drinks and even longer for our late breakfeast. The waitress wasn't professional (maybe it was my body wash ) I had a better experience at the Grand Lux in Las Vegas there the food was awesome and the servers were very friendly. I will Give Grand Lux in LA one more shot , maybe for dinner this time & a different server

I wouldn't have known about this place. He used to be the kitchen manager here so I came here A LOT .... but the food is AWESOME. It's my favorite restaurant to date, because you can't beat their warm crusted apple pie and pastas! Its sister is Cheesecake Factory, but Grand Lux has a more romantic setting, better food selections, and they're awesome when it comes to group dining. Every now and then, celebrities will drop by so that's always a treat.

Yep, Grand Lux is nothing more than Cheesecake Factory with high ceilings and with more bathroom stalls. The pasta choices are so-so just like the recent pasta choices at Cheesecake. The dessert choices though better. They have this molten chocolate cake which was very good and our server mentioned a dessert that was deep fried. Although we did not order the latter, it sounded promising. Oh, before I forget, the bread is the best!

Cheesecake Factory has always had a special place in my heart, and when I first dined at Grand Lux, I was (pleasantly) surprised by their similiarities. I love their beet and goat cheese salad (though I think it might be an acquired taste) and their spaghettini with fresh clams. Their lunch specials are also well worth the price! Though it isn't trademarked for their desserts (like Cheesecake Factory), their creme brulee duo and their roasted pineapple upside down cake is up to their caliber. Also, they offer several of Cheesecake's original cheesecakes as well~ What more could you ask for?

This place is fun it is at the Beverly Center so you can go there after a day of shopping and eat. At night it gets really crowded so be prepared to wait for an hour and half just to be seated, however you can go to the bar and have some drinks while you wait. One of my favorite dishes there is the salmon dish with a cream sauce. It is really good and my favorite dessert is the Banana Bread Pudding. I never had it so good.

It is supposed to be Cheesecake Factory's more upscale sibling...
the decor certainly is nicer...
but the food is identical and the prices seem to be the same, if not cheaper.
Definitely a solid choice anytime!

While the food is mediocre (and the servings are way too large) - the desserts here are fabulous! The beignets are wonderfully light and sweet, and having a selection of sauces to dip in is a great touch. I wouldn't necessarily recommend eating a full meal here, but you won't be disappointed if you drop by for dessert.

This restaurant is simply one of the best restaurants in LA. Whenever a friend comes to LA and visits, I always make it a point to take them to the Grand Lux. The food is extremely good, but a little pricey. The service is always friendly and polite. I do not think the interior is too gaudy and it is actually very beautiful. Try to go on a week night when it isn't too crowded. The weekends are usually always busy.

Food was a mess, steak was burnt when asked for medium rare, service was bad, MANAGER gave attitude and tried to lecture customers about HOW they make their food, he didn't say a word of apology. Customer service is the WORST i've seen/experienced. This is one of those places that you get such bad service that you don't want to go back ever. Perfect Saturday night out was RUINED.

It's hard to imagine how big and over the top this place is when you look at it from the outside, but it is huge and the etched glass and decor is really beautiful, some people might say gaudy. The menu is extensive 4 pages of salads, appetizers, fish, chicken, sandwiches, and steaks. You can order a la carte sides too. The selection starts at $10 and goes to $40. I had the barbeque cedar plank salmon, served with veggies onion rings, mashed potatoes for $19. The salmon was delicious and different, but it did not rival upscale restaurants. But I have a feeling everything else is equally good. The bread is uninteresting and the crust was very hard. I did not have dessert, but there is an extensive selection besides cheesecake. I wouldn't call this an upscale restaurant but a great place to go with friends or after shopping.

This restaurant is located on the first level of the Beverly Center. The inside decor is beautiful and not too brightly lit. The chain that owns this place also owns the Cheescake Factory. Some of the menu items are the same- strawberry shortcake and the cheesecakes. The salads are a bit more adventurous and the entrees more varied. I like the place because it is more spacious than the Cheescake Factory restaurants that I have been to and you can have a large lunch or dinner party without being scrunched together.

PROS: Great food and atmosphere
CONS: Mall parking

There's something a bit too gaudy about the place in comparison to what they're serving, like their sister restaurant, Cheesecake Factory. The last time there, the service was lacking, while other times it was on par, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Nothing about the food really stands out, but that's not to say you can't find something tasty, including the desserts.

I am a sucker for pasta, and the pasta here rocks. My waiter forgot to bring a dessert that I ordered, but the manager served me a free dessert the next time I went. If you tell the waiter that it's your birthday, they'll bring you a free dessert thathas a candle. This place is always busy, so you might have to wait if you don't have reservations. I love the couches in both the dining and waiting area.

My husband and I had a great dinner for about $60, so the price is good for not outstanding, but really good food. I had the Jamaican pork tenderloin and he had the chicken Madeira (which he always gets at Cheesecake Factory). The only drawback was the wait. We arrived at 9 pm and still had to wait an hour. The place was hoppin'! For the appetizer we had the coconut macadamia chicken skewers, very good. I didn't find the portions that huge, but maybe it's what we ordered. We were too full for dessert, but we live so close I could stop by anytime during the week and just pick up a piece of cheesecake or two.

I have been here twice, each time by myself which is probably why I've never had to wait. I'm not sure it would be worth waiting for more than 10 minutes.

The decor is enjoyable, but the place is so loud I have left with a headache. Not the place for a romantic date.

Portions are huge, service is courteous & attentive. The sandwiches are my favorite (perhaps the best patty melt I've had in long while). Desserts are good if you have room.

Although the place might seem tailor-made for kids or large groups, I don't recommend it because of the long wait.

I have been here twice, each time by myself which is probably why I've never had to wait. I'm not sure it would be worth waiting for more than 10 minutes.

Pros: Good food, Good parking, Fun decor

Cons: , Fairly expensive, Not worth a long wait

The Grand Lux is owned by the same people who own "The Cheesecake Factory," known for good desserts- but also enormous menus. Grand Lux is no exception, the menu is enormous and 99% of it is inventive and looks great. The food also lives up to the hype, it's pretty good- I'd say slightly above average. The real draw is the creativity of the dishes though.

I have been going to this restuarant since it opened. The quality and the preparation of the food was terrible when I brought 4 of my friends there on a Saturday night. They were very disappointed when they left and I have not been back since.

After reading the reviews of the Grand Lux Cafe we were expecting something truly excellent. We hoped that the food would make up for our almost 2 hour wait, but were let down. The portions were large, but of average taste. We found the Cheescake Factory to be much more satisfying even without the "Grand" title.

Has a Las Vegas feel to this place! Made me feel like gambling after I finished my meal....the place had descent decor, the food was average, and service was good.

The service is always outstanding. The portions are certainly enormous, taken right out of the Cheesecake Factory handbook. I LOVE the pot roast! It is amazing! The Club sandwich is good too. This place is great for groups, though the wait on a weekend evening can be hours! Go for lunch, or on a weekday.

Cynthia and Vinnie LOVE this place! Everything on their extensive menu is wonderful! Found it in Vegas and so pleased when this one opened locally. Never, ever disappointed! One of our favorites!

We eat here a lot - it is near our home. The food is good enough - most of all, it's all comfort food, the type of stuff we haven't been able to find much here in Los Angeles. Made to order deserts are very good. Most of the menu items are good. Huge portions - we split nearly every time and are always very full. Warm bread is served, too, and this has some of the best service we get and we eat out every night.

It's a little pricey but the portions are giant. It's also very spacious.

I live in the area and eat at the Grand Lux frequently. The reason is that the food is EXCELLENT! I have never been disappointed with any of the menu items. The service is good and the atmosphere is lively. The only drawback is that it can get quite crowded and you might have to wait to be seated. This place tops its sister store Cheesecake factory in every way.

The decor's grand and opulent as the name promises but it's a bit on the gaudy side. They give you huge portions of food. But when the food's boring and unrefined, who wants that much? The the waitstaff couldn't be sweeter. I did like the limoncello lemonade...

Same people that own/operate Cheesecake Factory.

We didn't have reservations but were sat relatively quick for a Saturday evening. Hostess took us to a table that was not prepared we ended up standing in the aisle while it was finished. This happen more than once I observed. Server was EXCELLENT! attentive, informative and friendly. I highly recommend the Jerk Tenderloin (though it came out real pink) I had to send it back, but it was delicious. Good looking desserts

then this is the place for you. My boyfriend and I were oohing and aahing watching the huge dishes come out with great presentation. When we ordered the miso salmon and the jambalaya, we were extremely disappointed to find that both dishes were extremely bland..even after the waiter stressed that the jambalaya was spicy and the salmon his favorite dish. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone...a bad version of the Cheesecake factory.

Please, is this a joke that someone put this overbloated center of mediocre food on a best in L.A. list! Get real. Or better yet, get some tastebuds and some gran cuisine dining experience. This is maybe Bakersfield's idea of a good restaurant.
