I have had a very different experience than the previous reviewer. I have been here many times and have always received great service. The first time I was in was an emergency and I asked if I could get the pants later that same day. Mike actually did the work while I waited and it didn't take much more than 20 minutes. We have now moved away from Redlands but I make it a point to go back there for all my alterations. Although I find the prices to be about $5 more than some other tailors, I think it's worth it.

Pros: Very Fast

Cons: Prices are a bit high

.

I dropped off 4 pairs of trousers (2 lined linen and 2 khakis), 1 pair of black jeans, 1 pair of blue jeans and 1 cocktail dress - all for hemming. Mike was wonderful, measuring my clothes and flattering me all the while ("you have a great style"). I did not receive a price estimate (my mistake), and in the rush of the afternoon Mike looked busy so I told him to take his time. It was a Friday, and he told me it would be ready the next week.

When I returned to the store 1 1/2 weeks later, the clothes were unfinished. He said it would be ready later, so I stopped by the next week (2 1/2 weeks after I'd taken in the clothes).

Mike gave me the clothes, then hesitatingly showed me the receipt - $107. I was surprised, and told him I thought it was a bit high. Immediately Mike was defensive, and told me how much time he had spent hemming my clothes - he said "If you're unhappy, you don't have to come back." I calmly told him I had taken my clothes to many places before but had not been charged that much (I was expecting $50-$70, max). When I asked to see a price list, he told me that these were "regular prices" but eventually admitted there was no price list. When I asked if I could have a discount (I'm a student; the clothes took 2 weeks), he still balked.

Finally, I agreed to pay but wanted to add up the numbers on the receipt, which listed a rate of $19 ("Dress"), $18 ("Pants," scratched out) and a blank item of $70 = $107. I asked if he could itemize the prices he refused. Instead, he scribbled down that the khakis and blue jeans (3 total) were $13.50 each, the black jeans were $18, the dress was $19 and the lined linen trousers were $18 each = a total of $113.50, mysteriously more than $107. When I asked if he could give me photocopy of the receipt, he refused. I took out my camera to take a picture of the receipt and he flew into a rage, throwing the receipt on the floor. I was calm. I paid and got out with no receipt.

Be careful.
